Fact finders. Anybody wanna go explore with me? Report back what you find.

I stumbled onto a .gov website that looks like a VERY interesting source of information. Anybody wanna go explore the links therein with me and see what we find out that might not be generally known?

http://www.biometrics.gov/

Quote:
Biometrics.gov is the central source of information on biometrics-related activities of the Federal government. Two sister sites provide a repository of biometrics-related public information (www.biometricscatalog.org) and opportunities for discussion (www.biometrics.org). These websites, working together, were developed to encourage greater collaboration and sharing of information on biometric activities among government departments and agencies; commercial entities; state, regional, and international organizations; and the general public.
What this COULD MEAN is that when you go to get your eyes examined for new glasses your biometric ID(IRIS SCAN) is recorded and sent to the Federal Database to be added to your file. Whether that is true or not, I DON'T KNOW. I gotta go read, but that is not beyond what the quoted sentence implies. Now popular Iris scans ito match a mother to HER newborn as a "security matter" in hospitals make YOUR AND YOUR BABIES IRIS SCAN PART OF YOUR MEDICAL RECORDS WHICH ARE ALREADY PART OF YOUR Federal "file".

What I DO KNOW is that IRIS, NOT RETINAL SCANS can be done from almost 3 feet away. IRIS ID is permanent through your lifetime, barring actual injury to the eye, BUT RETINAL SCANS CHANGE WITH DISEASE, HEALTH AND AGE AND REQUIRE A VERY CLOSE UP SCAN OF THE BACK OF THE EYE THROUGH THE BLACK PUPIL.

Well, I suppose it could be retinal scans and then again it might be corn researchers; "a branch of biology that studies biological phenomena and observations by means of statistical analysis

Back in my college days it was fish.

Are they doing RETINAL scans or IRIS scans? Retinal scans CHANGE and become outdated with age and illness, THE COLORED PART OF YOUR EYE IS THE IRIS, it doesn't change except with injury, you cannot see the retina (back of your eye)of your eye except with special equipment. A retinal scan can be lifted off a good, fairly close photograph. They may have you "look into" a machine and call it a "retinal scan" but in fact may be recording an IRIS scan, a much more permanent and useful information.

It would appear some Organizations of Doctors of Optometry have subscribed to padding the government data bases on us:

Pay attention to the bottom paragraph "Resolved"

NATIONAL DATABASE: Every resident in the UAE will be required to have their iris scanned over the next few years. (Getty Images)

Every resident in the United Arab Emirates will have their iris scanned over the next few years as the government looks to build up a comprehensive national identity database, Arabian Business can reveal.

The technology is currently being rolled out across the country and within a year that applies for a residency visa will be required to have their eyes scanned, an executive at the company implementing the system said in an interview.

Hussan Zakaria, UAE country manager for IrisGuard, said the system is being installed in health centres and will form part of the visa application process, along with the standard medical tests for infectious diseases.

Zakaria said project is designed to increase safety and security, but has other applications in areas that relate to personal identification.

He said currently the technology is operational up to 15 state-run health centres across the UAE.

He said the technology was similar to that already in use at all points of entry into the UAE.

Iris Expellee Tracking System is used to stop people that have been deported from the UAE re-entering with fake documents.

All foreigners entering the UAE on a new visit or work visa are required to have their iris scanned.

Zakaria said that, contrary to recent press reports, the border system has been operational since 2003. Press reports had said the system was in the process of being rolled out.

Zakaria said that as of May the system has caught 250,000 people trying to re-enter the UAE.

He said IrisGuard is currently in talks with other Gulf states about implementing the system, but has not signed any deals yet.

I hate to tell ya, but Iris' DO change. I had blue eyes up till age 28. They are now GREEN and there are a couple striations that have appeared over the years. My daughters were dark brown and are now LIGHT brown.

I could be wrong, but from what I remember regarding retinal scans is the pattern of the blood vessels, which normally do not change with age.
