I just wanted to say thank you to all the kind remarks above. I have been posting on this board for sometime now, and have enjoyed talking to some of the members on the phone. I just wanted to thank all those who not only have a berkey, but all those who have purchased one from us. We really appreciate it, and glad to support this site.

So can any one explain to me why I can not buy a Berky in Iowa? As I understand I have to go out of state to buy one.

Great question, from what i have seen on Iowa's website and from talking to the main berkey company, there are 2 factors.
The first factor is that tests need to be done by their labs, which are required. They are the only state that requires these kinds of tests.
The 2nd factor is the cost. The cost is about 7500 dollars per system, per combination of filters. The total price would be well over 100 grand, just to test the berkey filters and systems.

I am going to order a Big Berkey but will have to order it in Canada as shipping from the US with the taxes, brokerage etc would be brutal if I do the importing.

Currently we only ship to Canada, and we do charge for shipping, but it is reasonable and depends on the system ordered.
