Sarah Palin will be the main attraction at what's being billed as the "First National Tea Party Convention."

Tea Party Nation announced Wednesday that last year's Republican vice presidential candidate will serve as keynote speaker for the conference, scheduled to take place in Nashville, Tennessee February 4-6. A representative for Palin has confirmed the former Alaska governor's speaking role at the gathering ...

Another big mistake on her part. This is not a movement that she should associate herself with....it's imploding from the inside, and has conflicting agendas among its wannabe-leaders.

Bad idea.

I Dunno.

Sarah might be the galvanizing factor the movement needs to bring the developing factions back together and give the organization a renewed sense of purpose over the next few years. Plus it could allow her to position herself to be able to use the organization as the base of her campaign force for 2012.

You just wish the tea party movement was imploding. The liberals are running scared! Barry boy doesn't have a clue!

Something I learned from going to tea party meetings. It is much easier leading liberals and people who are looking for someone else like big government to take care of them or give them stuff. As a community organizer all you have to do is just tell them what to do and they do it without asking questions. The difference with tea party type people are they are thinking, doing and surviving type people. They think for themselves and therefore question orders from any group or leader. They are much harder to lead. Kinda like herding cats!

I am a liberal with liberal friends, and we are getting a great deal of entertainment from your constant insistence on our fear.

You wish.

The Tea Party movement has no clear leadership, no candidates to run, and they're too busy arguing over credit for who started the movement.

And what have they accomplished thus far....NOTHING.

The Tea Party Movement doesn't need a leader.......each area has its own people who know what is happening in their districts - it is grass roots at its best, not leadership from the top down. They just need a the encouragement and knowledge of a few higher profile people to urge them on.

We are seeing a resurgence in Alberta Canada of this "independent" thought - we have had a conservative .gov for decades and they are a little on the pinkish side. So now we have a couple of Parties who are starting up and electing representatives to the Provincial .gov......something that has not happened in a long time. And it has come from the people who are most concerned and who are willing to get out and speak their mind. In large numbers......

Tea partiers are real people who care enough about our country to address the issues they have with government, and show their position by actually doing something to show others they believe America is headed in the wrong direction. Apparently Palin is like-minded enough to be a keynote speaker at "The First National Tea Party Convention." Personally, I like that she is confronting the .gov by addressing the tea partiers. You can't accuse them of just being full of hot when they show up en masse to protest.

I know you approve of the current administration, FL, but I am one of the many that strongly disapprove and, in fact, believe America is being sold down the river. I don't profess to be an especially savvy concerning politics, but I know wrong when I see it. And I also know that everytime I read something Palin said I almost always agree. Granted she doesn't have much international experience, but at least she would trapse around the globe bowing and apologizing. I also believe she brings a modicum of common sense we haven't seen in Washington D.C. for quite some time.

And speaking of bringing experience to the job, Obama has even less political experience than Palin.

I didn't say all they do is TALK......they are organizing and training to insert new candidates in their own districts. For that you have to find good people, those who are willing to work and put up with ridicule and denigration from those who don't have anything better to offer.

We just elected a "nobody" in Calgary who was unknown, but whose message resonated with the electorate like the Tea Parties do with your US citizens.

Change is coming and will shock those who think they control the local elections, because that is where the change starts. There is a way to get people elected and that is what these Tea Parties will end up teaching their adherents to do.......and when there are enough of them, it will be fun to watch.

Laurane, that's all the Tea Party movement is....talk, with no action.

Hot air.

More than one million people on the street in DC is more action that we have seen from anywhere in decades.

The tea party people represent freedom, even while Dick Armey and the Neocons attempt to control them - or attempt to look like they are controlling them.

Yeah, that's right, just keep underestimating the power of real Americans. Laugh on while we blindside you. We will not allow you to turn our country into a socialist, third world $hithole.

Hi Luarane,

You have it right. I'm a 9-12er in a small rural town. We started with about 8 members in March and we are up to 124 today. We are educating ourselves and others on the Constitution and "The Making of America".

Our government wants to divide us into Republicans vs. Democrats; Conservative vs. Liberal; Left vs. Right. They have to keep us divided because divided we fall but united we stand.

We are ALL AMERICANS. I love my country and what it once stood for, you know, as it says on the Statue of Liberty; Give Me Your Tired Your Poor. You're Huddled Masses Yearning To Be FREE.

My husband and I have had family members fight for this freedom since the Revolutionary War. We refuse to be the generation that lets this slip away.

To those that want to give up their freedom and join the One World Government - Move somewhere else. You are not an American.

Here's something to give you and your friends some more great entertainment. I'm sure we're all entertained by this...............
