Marc Faber, the Swiss fund manager and Gloom Boom & Doom editor, said eventually there will be a big bust and then the whole credit expansion will come to an end. Before that happens, governments will continue printing money which in time will lead to a very high inflation rate, and the economy will not respond to continued stimulus.

Speaking at a conference in Singapore on Wednesday, Faber said: “The crisis has not solved anything. On the contrary there is less transparency today than there was before. The government’s balance sheet is expanding, and the abuses that have led to the one cause of the crisis have continued”.

“I think eventually there will be a big bust and then the whole credit expansion will come to an end,” Faber added.

“Before that happens, governments will continue printing money which in time will lead to a very high inflation rate, and the economy will not respond to stimulus”.

In one of his Gloomiest predictions, Faber, referred to as Dr Doom, said “the average family will be hurt by that, and then in order to distract the attention of the people, the governments will go to war”.

“People ask me against whom? Well, they will invent an enemy,” Faber said.

The crisis has not solved anything because it's a crisis!!! :sht:

...the governments will go to war. Arn't we already at war?

I'd like to see more positive news rather than doom and gloom.

Why? Cuz this is what happened during WWII. Don't these people have any original ideas? It is not 1929, but 2009.

The 1930's world was not concerned with imaginary climate change, overpopulation or resource wars like they are today. Read the news.

Here is a more realistic hypothesis which fits more in line with radical thinking in the 21st century.

All of this is setting the stage for a radical shrinkage of the world's population through any means neccessary. Including pandemics, mandatory birth control, infanticide, genocide and eventually, nuclear extermination of large population centers. A smaller population of the correct and genetically desired culled herds can be more effectively managed while preserving an environment which our masters wil enjoy.

They are three quarters of the way there. This financial crisis will just grease the wheels to go faster.

Don't fool yourself - ALL of us would like to see more positive news. The thing is, when the future has been sold off already, there can be no positive news, only negative consequences. "Man saves dog's life" type positive news is the only thing left, and it is not really that, but only a feel-good distraction. It's only a time to try to clarify the tragedy unfolding so that some personal action can still be gelled in mind, and I appreciate all efforts to that end.

Just so you know this, I'm a doomer....I've been a doomer for years and years....even before Doomer Doug posted at timebomb in 1998..... I was a doomer. Over the years, I've used my doomer philosophy as an investment tool, and have found that the philosophy I've adhered to has been a very wise choice.

If you wish to hear good news, then turn on the T.V....oh, I forgot...no good news there either.

Sorry for the drift here. But if you want doom, just read the Wikipedia entry on the Rape of Nanjing. I was close to vomiting by the time I had finished reading that entry. Just horrible. That is the sort of war scenario that worries me. Absolute, out and out, overwhelming brutality that destroys your family. I don't mean half of your family is wiped out. I mean all, including the relatives. There would really be no point in living after finding your wife raped to death with a spear through her from the bottom or all of your kids raped and their heads cut off and spears through their chests and your husband burned to death. I just can't wrap my head around coping with that type of scenario, and I believe that I am not a naive person.

So, back to the thread. What is coming if we truly reach the global levels of desperation that appear to be quickly headed our way? There are so many available catalysts for a world war on the table. Just pick one...or two...or ten. :shk: Add a restless China that has been screwed and with a half billion young men with no prospects of ever getting a bride and having a family, and we are in a world of hurt. I have no doubt that a war is coming.

the money is funny all over the world, and people are hurting, this is always the thing that starts wars, world wars, in fact, unless you have a dictator, that goes bonkers, and starts taking over the world.

BlueNewton,

I just re-read The Rape of Nanking recently. The images from that book have never truly left my mind, not since reading it many years ago. Iris Chang was a brilliant woman. She suffered greatly doing all that horrible research, and it may have led to her suicide.

There was just a documentary made of it, where Hollywood actors simply read through the diaries of Rabe and the others who tried to save the Chinese. It was well done.

Yes, that's true. One good thing for us. We are going to have some horribly desperate and angry people around the world very soon. How we could NOT have a war, I can't see. Getting completely mentally prepared for exactly what that could entail is really tough. I think I had not truly understood the visciousness of which man is capable until I read about Nanjing. Without our weapons, we are sunk.

OT, but to help you out a little...BAMA pulled off a win and that saves me from a lot of gloom from DH.

Can't help you out on the economy, gov or the rest of the world.

"...eventually there will be a big bust and then the whole credit expansion will come to an end. Before that happens, governments will continue printing money which in time will lead to a very high inflation rate, and the economy will not respond to continued stimulus..."

The credit expansion has already slowed to a crawl if it's not already in actual decline.

Governments are already printing 'money' (actually 'currency') with dubious value and diminishing purchasing power.

Only a few whiffs of inflation - so far - but it's a comin'...

The economy is NOT responding as expected to continued government stimulus.

The team that's ruling from DeeCee get unprecedented low marks for their efforts to date - this should be well reflected in the Nov. 2010 elections.

Wars? Always easy to engage real and/or imagined enemies - fun way to keep the human herd controlled & managed, too.

Consider that the oil-soaked Dubai govt. has essentially defaulted on their 60-80 billion dollar debt. If they can't make their numbers & repay debt with nearly $80/bbl. oil, what does this portend?

I don't think the guy knows much. Kind of a very narrow outlook. "will go to war...against whom....will invent an enemy." He's a fool. I wouldn't waste time with him. He dosen't know islam has been at war with the world for 1400 years. We don't need to invent an enemy. And there's Russia behind islam.

When the majority of the population is desperate they will listen to any demagogue who offers them a way out. Think of the destruction of the German economy during the Weimar Republic; Hitler offered the German people a way out and they took it... and WW2 killed millions because of that.

Yes, a demagogue will appear who will be worshiped by the foolish, he will offer hope and change... wait a minute... :dvl1:

Actually the OP is right on the money. And not exactly a new idea.

Kondratieff made this idea popular in 1930's with the business cycle. Which ends with a world war. Thus far has been accurate...

Every gov that hyperinflates it's currency has collapsed thus far. The Weimar Republic, tsarist Russia, Yugoslavia, French republic in late 18th century.. the examples are abundant.

The economic policies of the US lead to a hyper-inflationary collapse, there is no other outcome possible.
The debt cannot be repaid even theoretically, so it will be repudiated with the printing press.

A Three World War scenario was developed several decades ago (see Conspiratorial History). Two World Wars have already been achieved, and the Third and final World War envisions an attack on Iraq, Iran and/or Syria as being the trigger to set the entire Middle East into fiery conflagration. Once America is firmly entrenched into the Middle East with the majority of her first-line units, North Korea is to attack South Korea. Then, with America's forces stretched well beyond the limit, China is to invade Taiwan. This will usher in the start of World War Three.

Yes you are right, and the perfect scenario for a charming, intelligent, savvy "man with a plan" to step in and offer the war weary world a new chance...at a slight price, of course-just a little mark and a little worship... The pieces are certainly almost all in place, aren't they?

We live our lives in our minds.....and the structure of our reality is interpreted by our view of the outside world, as seen through the prism of our thoughts......Unfortunately, when and if the reality of the outside world suddenly becomes painful, and unbearable, our minds will interpret this in such negative terms, that the lives we live in our minds will become hellish...
Becoming a warrior, however, will circumvent this process, and create a steel like moat around the core spirit.

Hitler did the same thing. Vices such as those you listed were against his particular tastes. Plus, they distracted the population away from National Socialism. And they were affecting his master race (fat, sick from smoking, etc). So he wanted them done away with.

Here, the first thing is to appease special interests (non-smoking crowd for instance) to divide us. Second, some of those vices kill the wrong people (dumb supporters) who are needed for shock troops early on.

[link to www.dailypaul.com]
Nov. 28 (Bloomberg) -- Mark Pittman, the award-winning investigative reporter whose fight to open the Federal Reserve to more scrutiny led Bloomberg News to sue the central bank and win, died Nov. 25 in Yonkers, New York. He was 52.

Pittman suffered from heart-related illnesses. The precise cause of his death wasn’t known, said his friend William Karesh, vice president of the Global Health Program at the Bronx, New York-based Wildlife Conservation Society.

A former police-beat reporter who joined Bloomberg News in 1997, Pittman wrote stories in 2007 predicting the collapse of the banking system. That year, he won the Gerald Loeb Award from the UCLA Anderson School of Management, the highest accolade in financial journalism, for “Wall Street’s Faustian Bargain,” a series of articles on the breakdown of the U.S. mortgage industry.

“He was one of the great financial journalists of our time,” said Joseph Stiglitz, a professor at Columbia University in New York and the winner of the 2001 Nobel Prize for economics. “His death is shocking.”

A currency cannot be hyperinflated unless it's fiat: created out of thin air, with no backing of gold or silver. Every fiat currency, in the history of the world, has ended the same way - because of greed. And our fiat dollar will be no different. This is the message of Ron Paul and all those who warned against the private, for profit, Federal Reserve bankers.
