TECH PC Monitor Dim After Power Failure

Linda

Deceased
I have a JetBook laptop, 13 months old. At 4am this morning there was a power failure due to a car hitting a utility pole.

. This evening when I started my pc I noticed the monitor is dimly lit. The pc is plugged into a power surge strip, which has been reset. All connections are secure.

Is there something I can do to restore the brightness to the monitor? Could the power failure be the cause of this happening?

Thank you in advance.

Assuming it's an LCD, it's possible that either the inverter board or backlight tubes have failed. I work for a place that repairs them, but due to the labour and resources involved it is typically not economical to repair them below a certain size (currently about 25"). I could be wrong mind you.

Change your power strip or just plug your laptop directly into the wall socket and power it up again.

Some power strips have an air gap surge supressor that is only good for one major power excursion.
