ALERT On the flu [[Virus' on Mail/Other items.]]

maric

Short but deadly
Viruses can live on anything. The question is does anyone realize that any 'normal' flu would have a 3-5 day, minimum period before the symptoms would show? They wouldn't show up in a matter of a handful of hours.

I was trying to make the point that a virulent strain could move around the country, and the world, before the authorities could get the word out.

One way to kill the bugs on your mail would be to spray it down with lysol or a beach / water solution prior to handling it and wash your hands after opening the mail.

You make a good point so come Monday I will get the mail staff at work up to speed on how to open the mail safely and how not to spread their germs around the office after they open the mail.

just a funny thought on this

The mortage company calls and asks why your late with this months payment and you reply that your afraid to touch the mail in fear of getting the swine flu...:spns:

Just leaving the mail in sunlight for 15 minutes should suffice for killing influenza. It doesn't last long exposed to UV.

Double set of surgical gloves when handling the mail would be easier than risking bare handed handling.

I'm glad everyone's considering the possibles here, we can all learn from them.
