Thanks Topusaret for continuing this poll that I've voted on at least a dozen times. I'v always voted "watchful, ready" in the past, but tonight I finally changed it to "glued to the screen". Things are gonna' get worse before they get better, soon.

Had to upgrade it one this time

Usually choose the middle answer but 'feeling it' a bit more of late. Not 100% sure why but I am.

I voted for option 3; but I am thinking it is really 3.5 - especially with the financial stuff going on in eastern Europe and the Asian markets.

I fear not but I am saddened for soon the gates to hell will open.

We must remember to help one another. Black, White, Asian, Hispanic. Rich and poor. Its not our fault, its the sick bastards at the top. We need to stick together but at the same time beware of the demons. They will be everywhere.

If you'd asked me a few hours ago I'd said coasting, but since reading about the financial monkeyshines in another post I have to vote, glued to the info sources. The 'coincidences' just keep on piling up.

Same here. We won't go to 'in the bunker' until we absolutely have to (don't have a bunker in any case, but hunkered down).

I apologize for the thread drift...Rex, it's ironic you would post that. My 2 yr old GS has been freaking out for a week going on about the dinosaur/alligator monsters are coming. He keeps crying "they're getting closer, it's so loud Nana. Don't you hear them?"

Now, part of me figures big brother has been scaring little brother; but part of me has been freaking just a tad, because...I too feel it getting closer to the time.

ETA: I voted a 4, but it's really about 3.75. Close enough.

Sorry...back to topic.

I upped my level by one to Glued.
Actually 3.5 - 3.75

Maybe I should have waited until tomorrow to have voted - the world may change that much in the next 24.

I voted watch full. If I was glued to the screen, I wouldn't get any garden work done, nor have a life.

Something to think about... Where are you going to spend eternity? If you have read history, you will know that the world has gone through famine before. But those who choose to follow Jesus as Lord, and Savior, wins.

The econ stuff had me at a 4 of late. And then the funny goings on tonight overseas with the flight to the dollar and gold has me at a 4.5 now. I have my hand on the bunker door, looking back to make sure I have everything out there turned off lol.

I have always voted "watchful" in this poll, but today I stepped it up to "expecting the worst any day" because I think that's accurate. The past couple of days have seemed surreal, like watching a big implosion in slow motion. I think it's all downhill from here.

You and me both. I am not sure if part of it is my worries about my oldest dd moving back to the Camp Lejuene area or what, but I definitely have the heebie-jeebies.

Wow. With 86 votes in, it is apparent this poll's results will blow away the previous anxiety levels.

It's going to be interesting to see if we've pegged it or not.

(I hope not -- I'M NOT READY! And before anyone says, well, you've been on TB2K since 2001 and you SHOULD be ready, remember that I've had a divorce, a cross-country move with only what would fit in a mini-van, and very little income since then. Doing the best I can with what we've got, but sure wish things would hold off for another year or two! I do trust in God, though -- He's in control, no matter how bad things get.)

I usually vote "watchfull" (or less)

This is the first time since joining tb2k that I have voted "glued to the screen"

I HOPE that I am just suffering from "bad news overload" !:shkr:

I've done the Costco "panic" run so many times in the past, when I went last week, there wasn't anything I really needed. I'm pretty well stocked, even the freezer is full. It would be hard to move big #50 bags of stuff with all the new looky-looz in my apartment bldg. It was easier when we were at 40% occupancy, now I find it hard to do the laundry at times. Good thing I prepped so early on! "Panic" runs can be a good thing, so long as you don't over do it.

I'm glued but not to the boob tube screen. There is nothing to be learned there, it's all crap. I'm pretty edgy lately, feels like something is about ready to bust loose. Topping off preps is about all I can do to feel better about it.

I'm trying to get things done, but I've got one eye either here or on news. After reading TB last night, I almost didn't sleep.

Impending "shoe drop" is constantly in the back of my mind. I'm doing the best I can and trusting God for what I can't do.

It's almost like we have a "shift" in the force so to speak.

I'm completely glued, which is better than coming unglued, right? lol

Put my anxieties into action today: topped off gas tank, refilled and picked up prescriptions, bought 100 bucks worth of shelf-stable groceries and cleaning products to put back for 'medium term' preps.

Got to thinking about what social havoc would be unleashed if even a two-day bank holiday happened. Would not want to leave my house starting about two hours after that announcement were to hit the airwaves.

Regardless of any possibility of bank holidays, if this next week or two isn't "it" for monetary collapse, I'll be pleasantly surprised. At worst, I got more groceries at deep discounts because I coupon, meaning I don't feel financially guilt for this current prep run indulgence. Hope that made sense.

OT, but where are you getting your coupons that you're getting a 'deep discount'? The best I can find is 15 cents off 2 cans of blah blah, barely worth clipping out.

As usual, I'm still watchful. I doubt I'll be glued to the screen, it's not like having immediate knowledge will change my life much. There's nothing I can do about it (and I have nothing invested in whore street){oops, I mean wall street} so I try to keep the daily routine as normal as possible come what may.

Mostly the inserts from a nearby Sunday newspaper that carries the max amount of coupons from the 4 regular coupon companies: Smart Source, Red Plum, Proctor & Gamble, and Valassis. Most Sunday papers subscribed to at least one of these insert printers. Pick a Sunday paper that carries all four.

Start your explorations here: www.hotcouponworld.com

It can be time consuming, but pays off like a part-time job, IMHO.

My apologies to the OP for the thread drift.

I've thought so many times in the past few days (weeks), that if it was just me and my hubbie, both in our 50's, I wouldn't worry so much. But we have 3 little boys. I'm scared---truly scared---not for me, but for them. I am a Christian, I believe we're in the Lord's hands, but that doesn't mean He might not will us to go through suffering---Hebrews 11 says some were delivered from persecutions by their faith, while others had to endure suffering ("they were stoned, they were sawn in two, , they were tempted, were slain with the sword; they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; besing destitute, afflicted, tormented..they wandered in deserts, and inmountains, and in dens and caves of the earth...").

And what scares me to death is that the Lord may mean us -- including our children -- to have to go through horrible things. I don't fear for myself going hungry (I could stand to lose some weight--smile), but it would kill me to watch them suffering hunger and not be able to do anything about it (I have some food, but not enough to last for years and years). I don't live in fear of personal physical attacks so much; even if called on to die for my faith, I would hope, and believe, the Lord would give me strength to remain faithful unto death--but I fear a scenario in which my children are either in danger from physical attack and I cannot protect them, or, worse, that either lawless elements, or even the govt. itself, someday holds a literal or symbolic knife to my children's throats, and tells me "Do this (whatever wrong thing it may be), or I will harm them". I don't want to see the money we've scrimped and saved to amass for our children's provision, and eventual college education, go up in smoke in the fires of hyperinflation, and wonder how I will provide for them when it is all worthless. I've done the best I know how to prepare, but I keep feeling guilt over "If only I'd done more", "If only I'd started sooner", "If only I'd had more warning, more time", "If only I hadn't done this-or-that (investments that seemed uninpeachably wise at the time). If only if only if only....

And now, I feel a sense of being TRAPPED---because, well, here's what I dread happening:
*gradual economic mudslide becomes full-blown avalanche
*SUDDEN (as in days or hours) total economic implosion--my money becomes worthless so fast there isn't even time to buy a plane ticket out of here--and where would we go?
*Total social breakdown ensues, complete with mass looting and rioting
*Martial Law declared; all borders closed; all travel prohibited--so now we CAN'T leave what will have by then truly become a prison, even if we wanted to
*Total socialist / communist / dictatorship--or even the embryonic localized version of the one-world government I believe is coming as prophesied, with "loyalty to the state" having to be "proven" in a way I do not believe I CAN go along with, so I by default become classified as an enemy of the State;
*???---arrest? hiding? persecution? prison? 're-education' camps?

And it's this fear of, "how do I protect my children", that has my guts in a knot and tears in my eyes and my throat choking up.

I can hardly believe it's really happening, that all the awful 'disaster-movie' scenarios of what the death of America would look like, are coming true before my eyes.

It's like a nightmare I can't wake up from.

Did the same thing, myself. I'm really getting concerned, especially for all the folks who are losing their jobs. They won't all find room under the freeway overpasses...
