Man accused of tossing Christmas tree at his dad

Posted: Dec. 2 4:44 p.m.

PARRISH, Fla. — Authorities say a west Florida man who lives with his parents has been arrested on a felony assault charge after he used a Christmas tree as a weapon to attack his father.

According to the Manatee County sheriff's report a 37-year-old man was arrested last week after he threw a 3-foot Christmas tree at his father. The tree missed, but the man then tried to use the steel base from the tree to strike his father.

His father and mother were able to grab his arms to prevent the attack. Deputies say the tree could have caused serious injuries because the metal base weighs about five pounds.

The man was charged with felony assault. He denied trying to strike his father.

Amazed

Does too have a life!
Confession: I've wanted to throw mine at DH a time or two but there were some ornaments on there I didn't want broken.

When I was younger, I stuffed my sister's head in her stocking and beat her about the head with a candy cane, but she got what was coming to her.

...another good reason to permanently mark Christmas trees with a non-removable serial number and register them to each new owner.

this will cut down on crime...but who would leave their Christmas tree at the scene of the crime?

how will they handle assault christmas trees, concealed christmas trees?

Christmas trees do not commit crimes!
It is the people at the other end of the tree that commits the crime:ld:

I never commited any Christmas decor crimes but I heard tell of a Christmas party before my time where one sister in law threw a bowl of potato salad at the other sister in law (the tater salad thrower was told by tater salad target that she got too big a serving for her husband.:D

Well, after 4 hours of restringing lights only to have them go out again, I once contemplated tossing a Chirstmas tree! It was almost a Lifetime channel movie..."The Year Without a Christmas Tree."

The end times are here.
WELL!! It was a 3' tall Christmas tree, obviously illegally sawed off. This should increase the penalties for this Christmas tree crime!

Set Apart
Well I bet he got that tree thru a straw purchase, and he's probably a felon anyways. It probably had non-compliant ornaments on it too. The guy probably has boxes and boxes of light bulbs for it, and has a bumper sticker that says "They can have my tinsel when they pry it from my cold, dead fingers." What a nut.
