ENVR A Global Footprint Question

This question came up at yesterdays dinner, and maybe you can help with an answer.

How would a person calculate their "carbon footprint?''

And along the same lines, How many trees or greenery would need to be planted to 'offset' that?

I'll try to be diplomatic.

This carbon footprint shit is a waste of f'n time. People who are concerned to the point of calculating their own, have too much time on their hands. They have lost sight of more immediate problems or are woefully ignorant of them. They will be the first ones dead.
