Pretty normal for Vegas.. news makes it sound a whole lot more dramatic.

We had some SERIOUS rain about 60 miles outside of Vegas so I imagine that they got nailed tonight. Started RIGHT as we finished dinner.

It has actually been raining here since last night and then on and off all day but no flooding where I am.

Flooding is pretty typical here though....

When I was about 5-6 in in 1970, I remember Caesers Palace (small and quaint back then) flooding pretty bad. There was no storm drainage back then either.

We've been driving around all over town and there are pockets of flooded streets, but nothing really bad. Sections of I-215 in Henderson weren't draining fast enough from the hard rain this afternoon but still passable, albeit slowly.

Leaving Las Vegas tomorrow. Should be nice and dry on the road.

I'm tucked into a corner at 2500 feet with mountains a thousand feet higher within a few minute walk to my south and west. The rains don't seem to come here as often as other areas of the valley, I guess because of those mountains blocking storms. We didn't see one drop of rain during the summer thunderstorm season in my area, even the desert plants were looking very poor. Got nearly a half-inch yesterday and today, it was so nice for a change, all that dust washed away. After moving here, I didn't realize just how much I'd miss the rain.
