last night was a massacre. i had to clean the turkey and do the yams. I am pretty good at cooking..but on Thanksgiving i typical find a way of escape, but this is the first year we are having turkey day w/o family, so i cannot escape the kitchen carnage.

My kitchen is spotless.

I'm heading out to forage for turkey dinner in town, or I'll settle for some french fires and a burger.

I'll be back in a bit.....gone foraging!

Two loads run through the dishwasher already and will go for three. One good thing though. I think we just added a weeks worth of preps. Lots of leftovers.:D

Two chickens and three turkeys and 15 loads through the dishwasher over 3 days, it was the best Thanksgiving meal we've ever had.

Now I've still got stock and meat to can over the next several days....

Sign in my kitchen says:

A messy kitchen is a sign of happiness.
Mine's delirious

mine too.

Mom's 78yrs and she looked at me three weeks ago and said

"So you bought one of those turkeys on sale a Safeway?"
... Yep ...
"Ok, you cook the turkey this year!"
"and you might as well make the dressing" ... "oh and gravy too, since you'll need the drippings..."

Ah well no problem

and I've almost got everything cleaned up and packed to go to grandmas (she's got desert and the space I don't)

Does too have a life!
Our hour and three quarters drive to my sisters turned into a 3 hour nightmare. For over an hour we never went more than 10 mph! Traffic was horrendous. We ended up eating and having a little time to sit and catch up before we had to leave. That left my sister with the mess to clean up after doing the whole dinner. I felt like a jerk but DH would never have made it home without falling asleep if we didn't leave when we did. I owe her big time!

my kitchen is delirious as well..and that's after trying to keep up on the dishes as we cooked! Oh well...I get to relax now and let my two teens clean up. They are so Thrilled to have a dishwasher this year!

You are not alone.. mine was a disaster area.. (Yes 7.62 knows I am a neat freak) so I cleaned it up some.. have the first load of dishes going, vacuumed the house, rinsed off the second load of dishes and they are ready for the washer, sent everyone on their way with WAY too much left overs and it looks semi decent now. Ill do the second load of dishes and the rest of the cleaning in the AM.. ugh.. so full and sooooo tired but we had a great time!

You just have to clean as you go! My wife I have to run her out of the kitchen she make to big a mess! she would use up every pot, pan, and bowl we have and clean nothing just stack it up all over the place, I can't work like that and besides she can't cook any way! Eley may clampet cakes & pies that you can use to grind grain with.

Great Great Grandma!
We're having a big family "Thanksgiving" here on Sat. Oh, it'll be fun, but I don't look forward to the mess.

Wow did my turkey turn out wonderful and moist!

I had to haul everything to my mom's who had the other half of Thanksgiving (and the space for people).

As a result the turkey was out of the oven for an hour before it got carved (It was placed in a second clean roaster and then inside a cardboard box for transport)

It was magnificently moist and tender. Next time, It's gonna be 45mins or more before it's carved and i'll see if it turns out this well again.
