WTF?!? How are we supposed to respond to these situations?

My best friend called awhile ago to tell me about her lunch outing with another friend. They went to a buffet style restaurant, had finished eating and were sitting there chatting.

A black lady came in, went through the line and picked a table about mid-way the dining area. My friend said they didn't pay any particular attention to her, just noticed where she sat because she walked past them. The woman then said loudly, to no one...and everyone, I guess, "Hey, anybody want to talk about Obama?" My friend said it got so quiet that you could've heard a pin drop and then a black man a few booths away stood up and raised his fists in the air and started chanting Obama, Obama, Obama and the woman joined in.

My friend and her friend left...fast, so I don't know what happened. Nothing, probably. But this is just one incident in one small town. What's going on around the country in all the other cities? I myself have encountered extreme insolence and very surly attitudes in our tiny town.

So how does a person handle this kind of antagonism? I'm already heartsick about what is happening to our country. But some folks are more than heartsick, they are p.o.'d and will take this kind of thing as a personal insult.

I can (kind of) understand the racial pride thing because it makes me proud and humbled to vote knowing what the women who went before me sacrificed so that I have the privilege. But I don't get the deliberate bating and insolent behavior.

Don't be intimidated, but be prepared. There is no reason to tolerate that kind of behavior any more than we would if it were any other jerk disturbing the peace or inciting a riot. Wait, those are against the law,right?? :arg:

Wear level lllA body armor and carry everyday.

And keep your mouth shut, unless you're personally being threatened. And discreetly video tape those who antagonise you, because it may someday escalate into something much more.

Everybody in that place of business was 'baited'. I'm glad that it worked out ok. Let's hope that these types of incidences are going to be rare, and not daily occurances.

They honestly believe that now that Obama is elected that he will take everything that whitey owns and give it all to the blacks. It is sickening how prejudiced they are!! I KNOW because my husband works with almost all blacks and they have treated him unfairly for years and he can't do a dam thing about it because it would be discrimination! He just keeps his mouth shut and lets them screw him over and take all his work.

We haven't yet begun to see how much they hate whites!! It is just starting!

BFC i agree with you so much; however, this racist election (from the blacks) is going to set race relations back to the thrities at least. We now have the most divise country in history. Thank GOD I live in a whitey area. I fear for those who have to live near urban hate areas. This has just begun.

The cops won't respond to a call like that, even if the owner does call, which he likely won't.

That is the kind of behaviour that will blight an area and make business leave.

Then the loudmouths will have the whole depressed area to themselves.

I would leave any establishment that tolerated that kind of behavior. Then I would write a letter to the management and let them know what happened, that it was allowed to proceed, and why I will never return to that resturant, store or what ever kind of business it was. It would certainly not be tolerated if 2 white folks raised their fist and shouted something similarly inciteful.

I would not go as far as having to wear body armor everywhere I go, but I do carry my trusty Colt .38!

Well, thats a good question. If that was me, eating with a good friend, I'd just paint her with the "invisible" brush and keep on eating. IF it escalated to the person getting into my face next? Very bad move on their part. I will react and strongly. I would not just get up and leave before I was done. especially if there were just two of them being idiots. Don't talk to them, don't acknowledge them, just be aware of your surroundings and prepare to take action.

Depending on how pissed off I was. I'd be looking for the manager and telling the guy. "this crap keeps up, kiss my business goodbye sport". Hopefully this crap settles down, if it doesn't? could get very interesting out there once people have all they can stand of that crap.

No one in my family has owned slaves or 'stuck it to' blacks.

My brother used to be a 'Wigger' asthey called it. Every one of his friends were black-including his gf. I have dated black women and stood and fought side by side with black men to get a job done or just tofight.

I am colorblind until it comes to assholes like you. I do not know what color you are and do not vare but if you start a 'race fight' in my vicinity you better damn well be on the side of right. Eat in the peace of your own castle, your home. Once Obama starts in with the pro-criminal, heavy on rehabilitation sentencing, the streets will be awash with vile animals who will rape, rob, etc. and get away with it. Add to the fact that Obama wants to take your guns away, or at least force you to leave them at home, one had best get used to spending a lot of time at home or learning how to carry a very small handgun without people noticing.

Calrissian, slavery was a terrible thing, but it ended 150 years ago. It lasted about 80 years in the United Staes before we Americans ended it. Again, a terrible thing, but for 150 YEARS BEFORE THAT, the BRITISH condoned slave trade and slave ownership on this continent. Therefore, I believe that you are just as liable for reparations as anyone here would be!

What I don't get is that the Republican party was started as an anti-slavery party and elected Lincoln. At the time of the Civil War, the Democrats were the slave holders and the Democrats fought integration right up to the Civil Rights era, when the Republicans supported the Civil Rights Act of 1964 in a greater percentage than the Democrats. How did the blacks get the idea that the Democrats have always been their friends and the Republicans their enemies?

I'll answer my own question: decades of propaganda from teachers, the news media and the entertainment industry. It makes me sick. And so do you, Calrissian.

You wouldn't see McCain supporters behaving this way, so its a moot point. Nor did we have to worry about McCain supporters rising up and rioting if/when McCain lost. Two different mentalities.
