SEKIU, Wash. — A Sekiu woman says she was shot in the leg by her stove.

Cory Davis told the Peninsula Daily News she had just stoked her cast-iron heating stove Sunday when she heard a loud bang and was struck in her left calf.

Davis says a case of shotgun shells spilled about a month ago at her home and one must have landed in the newspapers she used to light the stove.

She removed a metal fragment herself and was treated Monday at Forks Community Hospital

That's why I keep saying the govt should ban woodstoves. They're just plain dangerous. If they're not setting your roof on fire, then they're shooting at you. This has got to stop.

IMHO:

There is no reason for semi-automatic woodstoves to be in the hands of the public and they should be banned immediately!

Actually, I think she was stealing wood from the neighbor next door.

Simple methodology. You get a good dry piece of firewood already prepared. Drill a hole in from the end. Put something explosive into the hole like - like an M80. Then, using a wooden plug, plug the hole. Then use your chainsaw and cut a thin slice off the end of the log levelling and obscuring the adulteration. Then, and most important for your own personal safety, MARK it somehow using fluorescent orange paint on the end grain like the foresters use to mark loads on a logging truck.

Now place this piece inconspicuously on top of your pile. Be sure to avoid it each time you move wood into your house.

I think this is "endangerment" or possibly an "infernal machine" and is against the law - but who would press charges? And what judge would consider them?

Joe

Logs shorter than 16" are illegal unless you pay a tax for a special permit.

And I suppose we'll have the confusion of "face brick" versus "full brick" similar to ammunition.

Too confusing! I'll just apply to Congress and get my heating bill paid. Isn't that the right place to go?

And could a pellet stove be considered an "automatic weapon?" We'll have to have pellet sniffing dogs now in case someone tries to smuggle pellets onto an airplane.

It was probably provoked

I bet she had a piece of wood and was holding it in a threatening manner. It just fired in self defense.
