This seems like an awful lot of body armor. I wonder where they are planning on using it. Although I see that instead of the 1.2 million plates covered in this contract you could buy nearly 8 million plates with the same money at Bulletproofme.com.

Plates can only take a hand full of impacts before they are no longer safe to use.

Good plates start at $400 bucks a piece. The Blackhawk plates I sell go upwards of $600-$700. Remember you need 2 front and back, and you can also get side plates. Add on a brain bucket for $250-$400.............your seeing some real dollars laid out.

So $300 for soft armor
Say $1200 for front and back plates
plus $400 for side plates
and $300 for a helmet
........$2200 for damn near 40 pounds of defensive gear.
