Biden Cancels Events As Mother-in-Law Battles Illness

(CNN) — Democratic Vice Presidential nominee Joe Biden is cancelling his campaign events for Saturday and Sunday as his mother-in-law battles a serious illness.

The Senator from Delaware's campaign spokesman, David Wade, put out a statement saying "the campaign has cancelled Sen. Biden's schedule today and tomorrow because of a serious illness in Jill Biden's family. Hospice has advised the Bidens to remain close by, and we appreciate everyone's respect for the family's privacy."

Wade is referring to Biden's wife's mother, Bonnie Jacobs, who is in a hospice in Pennsylvania.

Biden was scheduled to speak in Washington D.C. and then attend a fund-raiser in the nation's capitol Saturday night. Sunday he was expected to campaign in Virginia.

Weren't we discussing the possibility of Biden steeping down for health reasons, thus allowing the Hildibeast to run as VP? Things that make one go huummmm...

Not to be cynical, but one wonders about the bashing and scrutiny the left would do if this were Palin. They would drag her through the wringer up one side and down the other.

I hate to say it..but yes they would...We could expect disgusting comments from the DU..:rolleyes: They are just vile...But then we would begin to hear speculation from the liberal talking heads in the MSM.. Then the criticism..."Maybe she is just using it as an excuse to bow out of the running.."..or "Can a woman with so many family matters really handle the VP job?" :rolleyes"... This would be the beginning of the "nice" slams....Then of course it would build to the nasty rumor monger filth that the left has always indulged in..:shk:

Yep, this. You can say what you want about his politics (and boy, I could say plenty), but he's well-known as a family man. He rides the train home most nights to have dinner, and doesn't spend all his time in DC.

I hope things turn out for the best, and that they can find comfort if things don't.

Don't agree at all with the man's politics and I sincerely do believe that 99.9% of the attacks on Pallin were orchestrated BY OBAMA and NOT BIDEN. He'll lie like a rug when it suits him however his family always comes first.

I hope the family takes trust and solace in the Lord's will..

The woman is about to transit earth in the active dying process.

Advised to remain close by = days or more likely hours.

McCain Cancelling Campaign
Senator McCain has said he is cancelling his campaign to go back to Washington and deal with the deepening financial crisis in the country. I guess this means he no longer believes "the fundamentals of the economy are strong"

Would explain his choking up during the debate, man has ALOT of things on his mind. While he is a political adversary, he is an American and a fellow human being, thoughts and prayers his way.

I know, I know, when it comes to ANYONE in politics, I am extremely suspicious.

If this withdrawal from the campaign stretches beyond a couple days, it will be time and look for his replacement to be announced.

It was widely speculated that Biden would discover he was "sick" after the debate. Everyone would have pointed the finger and said "ah ha! We knew it" With a family member sick (and I am not doubting that the poor lady is gravely ill) he will get loads of sympathy when he pulls out for "family reasons."

You're right, the campaign never would. The left wing bloggers and press would. As you can see here many of (I assume) right leaning folks are wishing for peace and support for the Biden family, the left wing would not be nearly as kind.

No doubt, I'm not defending those people. But I do know that I get a much more real sense of visceral HATE from the left, then I feel from the right. I've had people tell me they want to see conservatives dead, I don't want to see liberals dead, just irrelevant.

There was a time in my life when I would say whatever came into my head, no matter who I offended. Then I got older and adopted the "Golden Rule" in my thoughts, voice, and actions. I never think, say, or do anything to or about another human being what I wouldn't want said, thought, or done to or about me. It has changed my life. So, in that vein.....


Sen. Biden's wife's mother just died. How would I feel if my spouse's parent just died? I'd feel such pain for my spouse, and want to be as loving and supportive as I possibly could. I wouldn't give a rat's tail about anything or anyone else. I would focus my attention where it mattered - my family. And I would hope that others were sending thoughts of bright light and peace my spouse's way to get my spouse through the intense pain of losing a parent.

What I would not be doing is having a thoughtless and pointless argument about left and right politics. I may be having a conversation about the character of the person running for office - on either ticket - about the way they take care of their respective families.

I believe that BOTH of the VP candidates show enormous character when it comes to their families. Now, does that make me liberal, conservative, or a conservative-liberal - or does it really matter?

Funny .. I didn't see that at all. Palin sure is condescending towards Amercians. Were not her kids ... or "Guys and Gals" ... wink ... wink.

The only thought I got of raw meat is when she rants about war and terrorists. McCain and Palin are going to get a lot of people killed.

There is nothing conservative about McCain ... he spendt the majority of his career putting the country exactly where we are at. Along with monkey boy.
