What Did Obama Do At The 9/11 Memorial To Boost McCain's Poll Ratings?

I'm wondering if the Gibson interview is also rubbing people the wrong way too... I think the American public is really sensitive right now towards the liberal media...after what happened with the introduction of Palin...

I was shocked when I pulled up the poll and saw McCain ahead..I thought they would still be even...:shr:

This has got to hurt if you're a Democrat.

I have heard that the difference between how McCain/Palin and Obama placed their flowers at the memorial made an impression. The McCains respectfully bent down to carefully put their flowers down while Obama tossed his down. This did not reflect well on Obama.

While watching it on the news , that is the FIRST thing i noticed.. and I thought to myself... WTF is that guys problem?!?
He just tossed the flower down... which I thought was VERY disrespectful..

I believe you may be correct. The fact that the wacked out Left fringers of the Dem party were so viscous was reflected back on the whole party and the mainstream media that picked up the worst of the slurs as though there might be some credibility to the stories. Dumb jerks shot themselves in the foot on this one. LOL

Talk about political rookies! If you're going to employ Rovian tactics, you've got to get much better than the last round. IMHO

We watched the news clip wtih McCain and Obama at ground zero last night - my DS (23 years old) said, "McCain is talking to people, looking in their eyes, and making contact. Obama is hanging out at the edge of the crowd, like he was bored." He was right Obama looked like the odd man out with the families of the victims. He stood at the edge and looked around - stood a foot or so away from the crowd.

I watched it on the news. I also noticed how McCain and everyone BUT Obama laid their flowers in respect, Obama tossed/threw down his. My first comment afterwards was about how Obama was disrespectful in his actions.

Obama's body language is always very telling.

Where was Michelle

I got chilled when I saw Obama pass by the guy in the hard hat, who obviously held out his hand to shake Obama's, as expected, in the receiving line. Right in the first 30 seconds. He just walks away from the line-up and passes him by. What's with that?

Then where was Michelle? Oh yeah, she couldn't come, it would remind everyone of her Reverend Wright' famous 911 sermon. Obama could deny he listened to his sermons, but Michelle couldn't.

This is so wierd. I've always been a swing voter, voted Dem/Rep/Ind and Lib, whomever I thought was the best person for the job. I split tickets most years. It's so odd to find myself veering so far to one side in this election, and with such intensity.

Obama will be remembered as a man of letters, and for his books and speechs, as we recall William Jennings Bryan. He deserves an honorary doctorate for his memoirs. However flawed the character he exposes in those writings, his exposition on the conflicts of his teen years is superb. But he's an awful choice for the grueling job of president.

I fear this election has turned into a popularity contest, like Queen for a Day on daytime TeeVee, or American Idol more recently. He is a compelling man, and you want to encourage him to rise to greatness. Just not on our time.

Do you, or anyone else know when obamma stopped smoking crack? Or when he stopped selling drugs in his youth?

You could start by watching footage that Michelle Malkin didn't cut to push her agenda. Here's more footage from the event, not trimmed by Malkin:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QV-gENJOs8s

Starting at about 2:30, Obama begins working his way down the line, shaking hands and speaking with each person. At 5:30-ish, he gets to the fireman and they speak quite a bit.

Now, everyone can go ahead and call me an Obama supporter because I dared tell the truth. :)

Telling the truth is what we should hope from TBer's on either side. We cannot expect it from the politicos nor the MSM.

So how was the editing done to make Obama look like a total shit with the flowers? Was McCain simply trying to upstage Obama with a show?

I made no claim that the flower toss was edited. Please don't imply that I did. I addressed a specific comment with a specific answer.

It looked to me like O'Bambam threw the flowers. Guess he musta heard the part his 'Pastor' preached about 'coming home to roost' after all.

eta: I saw it on live TV, not youtube.

Not that it really matters, but the woman in the video is Cindy McCain. Sarah Palin was in Alaska, sending her 18 YO son to war...

Yeah..obama's an a-hole.

I didn't imply a damned thing. I asked a straight question. You showed that a peice of video was cut to support someone else' opinion.

In that context was the video I just saw on Youtube cut to support someone else' view or was him throwing the flowers like they were an empty McDonalds coffe cup exactly how it was?

If you support Obama, that is fine. So in support of Obama explain to me how anyone seeing that can view it differently. I'm all eyes.

Fred is correct. I couldn't get Mark Armstrong's link to work so I found another video of the event on youtube and it showed Obama spending quite a bit of time with the man with the hard hat..I'm assuming was the Firefighter..

Ok---- I am not an Obama supporter but it appeared to me that he tossed the flowers trying to get them up to a higher spot on the memorial. I'll have to back it up and look again but there were lots of stuff on that memorial..... I don't see it at disrespect. At no point during the exchange in the line of people did he appear disrespectful. I thought both of them looked like warm men chatting with these people.

I really can't wait for this election to be over.......

Ok, I went back and re played it. If you watch it just before they placed the flowers, it looks to me like they were trying to decide where to put them. Obama makes a motion with his flower and sort of points to where he is going to put his..... then tosses it up there.

OK..Fair enough.....:shr: I can see it that way too..

Something in the Obama camp has continued to boost the McCain poll numbers though.. Maybe it was that his wife wasn't present at the memorial? Did he make more derogatory comments aimed at Palin yesterday?
Or...it could be the damage has already been done by himself, and his camp (including the liberal media..) and the public is just going to be hyper- sensitive towards anything he does or says from this point on....

How can some one be president, and not show respect ,for all the families, that lost loved ones on 9/11. and there were alot of family people there. thatwas very disrespectful not to place the flowers on the plaque, not toss it. some times i think that guy has no brains.

I did not cut the footage, or post the video to YouTube. I simply found a YouTube video that showed the incident in question--the handling of the flowers. The longer video was ten minutes, and had the flower portion buried in the middle. The video I linked to was succinct, and I thought neutral.

There was a video heavily edited to make Obama look bad: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dOzVKSxL95o

However, I didn't even consider linking to that one. I only link to it now to illustrate that I chose a neutral clip.

The tossing of the flower followed by the placement of his left hand in the pants pocket clearly displays the 'southside' urban shuck that Obama is beginning to show as he lets his guard down on the exhaustive campaign trail. He is beginning to show his southside. The boy is a fake. I don't care for him or his wife. I think he would make a great basketball coach and his wife a nice school teacher.

I replayed it over and over and he clearly tosses it without any sign of respect or reflection. I really didn't expect it to look this bad.... but it's clear.

Tie that in with all the things (truths) about him that the media refuses to report- and it just makes sense... :kk2:

About the flowers. I watched a vid on utube after reading something about the direspctful toss here. From the follow up that I've read, it seems that what we didn't see is that the area they were leaving the flowers had a reflective pool or something in the middle and that BO was aiming for that. And it was too far away, so he tossed, rather than placed his flowers.

I'm not an O supporter, but I feel that he was probably way uncomfortable in that whole setting. With no wife at his side. I think he is used to being in a large entourage. Not like McCain, who is probably used to being alone. He spent years in a solitary jail cell. And he did go to carrying his own luggage in airports.....

That's just all speculation on my part. I think the poll numbers are more a result of a surge, such as is it. The Palin storm surge.
