Denver, CO (LifeNews.com) -- The niece of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. has a message for pro-abortion presidential candidate Barack Obama … that her uncle would have strongly opposed the destruction of human life under the kind of unlimited abortions Obama supports.

Obama's speech has been hailed by the media because he is the first African-American nominee of a major political party and because it comes on the 45th anniversary of King's "I Have a Dream" speech.

Alveda King called her uncle "a man of great compassion, and a man of non-violence."

"He once said, 'The Negro cannot win as long as he is willing to sacrifice the lives of his children for comfort and safety,'" she added.

King said her uncle would understand that to include the destruction of unborn children.

"I know in my heart that if Uncle Martin were alive today, he would join with me in the greatest civil rights struggle of this generation - the recognition of the unborn child's basic right to life," she told LifeNews.com.

"My uncle Martin would agree that we cannot end poverty, hunger, or suffering by killing those who might suffer," she explained. "We cannot claim to guarantee equal rights if we deny the rights of the helpless. And we cannot feign ignorance of the fact that those who are torn apart, crushed, or left to die on an abortionist's table are just as human as we are."

"My uncle said that injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere," Alveda continued.

"There is injustice in our land. We have turned being unwanted into a crime penalized by death. Today, I echo the words of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. - let freedom ring. From every mountain top, let freedom ring for all Americans, wanted and unwanted, born and unborn," she added.

Obama has repeatedly come under fire for his pro-abortion positions -- including a litmus test on Supreme Court judges to keep abortions legal another 35 years and wanting taxpayers to fund abortions.

He has also been criticized for opposing a bill in the Illinois legislature that would have provided medical care for newborns who survive botched abortions.

Really, I would have never guessed with John Kennedy being such a right wing democratic. Man how things have changed.

but people forget that JFK would have as a catholic been against abortion. but it was not a political issue during his or MLK's day.

I am glad to hear Ms. King speak up.

won't make the slightest difference to Obi's policies, he is a marxist arsehole

+10!!!

MLK is simply used to stir up votes amongst blacks and those with false guilty consciences. MLK was a true Christian. Obama is a marxist that belonged to a racist cult he calls a "church."

It should be fun to watch if she stands her ground and keeps it up...

What? I had to "go fish" to dig up this story...you'll NEVER hear about it again, not on the alphabet channels at least.

Yet its sickening how the mainstream media will pick up on a blog saying that Gov. Palin's down syndrome child was due to sex within her immediate family, and run with it like its the gospel truth.

On the other hand Dr. King is totaly ignored, and her uncle's name is brought up only for conveinence sake. Sad, but the spin doctors have the people so brainwashed, it's like they did with Hilter in WW II.

I know, I wish she would march on Washington or something. Then the mainstream would be forced to cover the story.

I am not trying to take anything away from what Dr. Alveda King stated, however, Dr. Martin Luther King was given the PPFA Margaret Sanger Award, which he accepted. His speech can be found at their site, which I have provided below. What is particularly odd is that Mrs. Sanger was a known proponent to put her clinics in black communities to "control" their population. It is amazing she got just what she wanted by getting a black minister to assist her. Here are Mrs. Sanger's own words.:

"We should hire three or four colored ministers, preferably with social-service backgrounds, and with engaging personalities. The most successful educational approach to the Negro is through a religious appeal. We don't want the word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population. and the minister is the man who can straighten out that idea if it ever occurs to any of their more rebellious members." Margaret Sanger's December 19, 1939 letter to Dr. Clarence Gamble, 255 Adams Street, Milton, Massachusetts. Original source: Sophia Smith Collection, Smith College, North Hampton, Massachusetts. Also described in Linda Gordon's Woman's Body, Woman's Right: A Social History of Birth Control in America. New York: Grossman Publishers, 1976

"There is a striking kinship between our movement and Margaret Sanger's early efforts. She, like we, saw the horrifying conditions of ghetto life. Like we, she knew that all of society is poisoned by cancerous slums. Like we, she was a direct actionist — a nonviolent resister. She was willing to accept scorn and abuse until the truth she saw was revealed to the millions. At the turn of the century she went into the slums and set up a birth control clinic, and for this deed she went to jail because she was violating an unjust law. Yet the years have justified her actions. She launched a movement which is obeying a higher law to preserve human life under humane conditions. Margaret Sanger had to commit what was then called a crime in order to enrich humanity, and today we honor her courage and vision; for without them there would have been no beginning. Our sure beginning in the struggle for equality by nonviolent direct action may not have been so resolute without the tradition established by Margaret Sanger and people like her. Negroes have no mere academic nor ordinary interest in family planning. They have a special and urgent concern."

This is quite telling...until the truth SHE SAW. There is but one Truth. Truth is not how "we see it". Everytime I read something from PP or Sanger I want to puke.

I am not sure how Dr. King MISSED the fact she was wanting to rid the earth of the black race. :shr:

Here are some books she published, long before 1966:

"Some Moral Aspects of Eugenics" (June 1920), "The Eugenic Conscience" (February 1921), "The purpose of Eugenics" (December 1924), "Birth Control and Positive Eugenics" (July 1925), "Birth Control: The True Eugenics" (August 1928), and many others.

One thing for certain, times have changed and are changing again...that is why we have a constitution. Liberal justices see the document as an ever changing regulation open to inturpetation. Conservatives see it as strickly inturpetated, as it reads.

As the pendulum of our society sways from one extreme to the other (Clinton Era to Bush) so does public opinion. Personally I don't think the founding fathers felt the constitution should change to keep up with the whims of a nation. Rather that it would frame the nation.

Will Ms. King's voice be heard above the din of mass media and effect votes? I certainly hope so, not to change this into a discussion about abortion, but that is what she talking about. The abortion pendulum has swung all the way over to the left, allowing 3rd trimester and even live birth abortions, under the 14th admendment (freedom of choice).

Norma McCorvey (Jane Doe, in Roe VS Wade) who filed the class action suit legalizing abortion...has now changed her mind, she is Pro-Life. If Margrete Sanger was still alive, and seen how out of control this so called freedom has gotten, I wonder if she would have changed her viewpoints.

I think thats why many democratic voters in alaska are with Sarah Palin's nomination. People (not here in NY...beleive it or not, Hillary's camp) are starting to see through Obama's showmenship and how impractical many of his ideas are. ANYWAYS, I hope Ms. Kings message gets across.

I agree with most of what you have to say, but this I highly doubt. Read the woman's diary and books. She was pure evil. She spoke at KKK rallies, supported the Negro Project, and on and on.

Let's not forget the Pill was not available when Mrs. Sanger initially wrote her racist hate mongering garbage. She was talking abortion here.
