Sarah Palin Supported Ron Paul In The Primaries?

It would be interesting to know who Sarah voted for in the primaries.

In a February interview with MTV, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin lavished praise on maverick Republican presidential contender Ron Paul.

She had a few nice things to say about another GOP candidate, Mitt Romney.

But Palin made no mention of John McCain.

Now that McCain is the presumptive Republican presidential candidate, he has selected Palin as his prospective running-mate for vice president.

McCain calls Palin his political "soul-mate."

But, in February, at a point when McCain was closing in on the Republican nomination, it sure sounded like she was sweet on Paul.

The governor, who sported a Pat Buchanan pin at a 1999 rally for the renegade Republican presidential candidate (Pat says: "She's a great choice for the base ... She's a Buchananite"), described the anti-war, libertarian-leaning congressman from Texas as "cool."

"He's a good guy," she said of Paul. "He's so independent. He's independent of the party machine. I'm like, ‘Right on, so am I.'"

Paul supporters were delighted. In fact, they even began promoting Palin as a possible veep choice for the Texas congressman.

As it happens, Paul won't be picking a running-mate in St. Paul.

But the congressman will be in the Twin Cities.

Conveniently for Palin, Paul -- who refuses to endorse McCain -- will be holding an outside-the-convention "Rally for the Republic."

More than 10,000 tickets have already been sold for an event that is expected to draw thousands of Paul's most ardent supporters to the Target Center in Minneapolis on Tuesday.

Perhaps Palin will join them.

Or is she now with the party machine?

I'm

finding all this very interesting. Especially as Mccain ALSO mentioned "REFORM" during the Missouri speech. They must have known all of this about the Governor.

Who knows, maybe Mccain is pulling a fast one on the party machinery and the real controllers.

It all just makes me like her more and more and more.

They're making a subtle play to win back into the fold all the very energetic yet disaffected Ron Paul supporters. It won't work.

I don't know..............it might.

As I heard this weekend......"A vote today for McCain, is a vote tomarrow for Palin". The speaker was refering to McCains advanced years and health and how he, if elected, may not be able to retain the office.

From the many things I've read and heard, she's a female version of Ron Paul (though a bit watered down), so to speak.

McCain wont get my vote. If McCain croaks and Palin gets bumped to the big job and selects Ron Paul as a VP, then things could change.

Kinda has a nice ring to it. Palin/Paul

Some people speculated that McCain might actually pick Ron Paul.

Why didn't he? Why Palin instead? RP has the experience, doesn't need to be vetted, etc. Paul would have catapaulted him into the presidency.

I think that Palin -- unlike Paul -- is a controlled / controllable asset. Which is why I don't trust her. Paul would actually try to DO something as VP. McCain couldn't have that. Palin, with her lack of experience, could be told basically to shut up and keep a low profile while McCain does what he wants to.

As I've written repeatedly, though, I'm convinced that McCain has been told to throw the election.

+1

If the GOP wanted a conservative, we would have gotten one. They instead want a socialist pig running the white house.

uhhhh, the ONLY thing the MSM would have focused on would be their ages, with both into the 70's - all you'd see from Obama and the MSM would be a constant barrage of "two old white guys"

now, that would be "throwing the election"

Ron Paul would not have run on a John McCain ticket. He won't even endorse the guy.

I was gonna say... Paul's age is against him as a running mate for McCain, whereas Governor Palin's age and obvious energy make her a good counterbalance. I suspect she's a good deal less "socialist" than McCain.
