I heard from Irene this morning. they had every thing boarded up and were hunkered down. They have everything in place. I think she will be ok. but where this storm goes in in TEXAS, is really close to her homestead. so prayers would be a good idea.

Irene has my prayers, Mom. Thanks for letting us know.

She's fine. I saw where she had posted on another forum this morning. She said that they just got a little wind & rain, & she was going to put her hanging baskets back on the porch this morning.

I just received an email from a mutual friend about Irene. In part, this is what she had to say:

She called me this morning from her cell phone and they are in dire straits down there from Ike. She said people are without food, water, no gas, no money, ATM's not working, no health care, massive flooding and thousands of homes flattened. She said Houston is really in bad shape and I believe it was Crystal Lake she said was destroyed. Said it is worse than Rita or Katrina and she went through Rita. She said people are asking where the food and water is. Roads are closed and no one can get in. She and Tom have a propane generator so they are ok for now but they are concerned they will run out in a few days. They are trying to get some delivered but not sure if they will be able to or not. To make matters worse Irene has been sick and still is not feeling well.

Thanks Deena. I've been wondering about her ever since it hit.

Is there anything we can do from here (IN VA?)

Thanks Deena, please let her and Tom know that I am holding them up, and ask what I can do to help, please!

If you can advise of a more specific area that she is in, city/county, I'll immediately be making phone calls/letters/radio contacts for her area making noise.
