The bars around here(Michigan -21 drinking age) are promoting "Party 18-20 yr olds Drink 21 and over"
Till 2:00 am. Is this a regular thing now? I do know that the rule of No One allowed in bar after 9 is called a "house Policy" not really the law. Do YOU have bars around your area that promotes 18 yr olds in bars till 2? What are your thoughts on this? Also, there are a lot of "Pimp and Hoez" parties in these places. Any comments on these? Thanks.

Very common in places that present bands on the weekends. It's just so the younger crowd can get in and see the bands and hang out, and they charge for entry and make their money there. They are VERY tight making sure drinks only go into the hands of those who have been carded because of course none of them want to lose the priveledge of being able to do that.

When the bigger national touring acts come around, they will admit all ages even.

As to whether this is a bad environment for teens and kids, I've taken my daughter and her friends to many a show at the local clubs and their comments on the 'bar atmosphere' were along the lines of 'this place smells'. There is really nothing appealing about these places to young kids outside of seeing their favorite bands play.

Lots of bars do this and have been doing this for years...especially in urban areas. I would recommend avoiding these establishments because they are often filled with young men who are easily prone to fighting.

When I was 20 yrs old, married, and obviously pregnant, hubby and I went to a local bar with another couple. It was about 10:00 PM. We sat at a table near the bar, and DH went up to the bar to order drinks. He ordered 3 draft beers for himsef and the other couple and a water for me. Bartender said Ok, but I need to see all their IDs. No problem...I was the only one under 21. DH came back to the table to get friends' IDs. Bartender pointed at me and said, "I need to see her ID too." DH said, well, she's 20, but the water is for her. (Did I mention I was OBVIOUSLY pregnant? (about 8 months) and it was a restaurant too. She said..no, she has to leave if she is under 21. There was a family in there with young kids. DH pointed that out, and she said it was OK becuase the kids were with their parents. I could be in there if i was with my parents...but not my husband. :shr:
