I had dead pig and broccoli.

Fixed some porkchops from the hog I bought last week. Really tasty stuff!

Now for dessert... hmmm.. whatever shall I have?

We grilled one of the chickens we hatched back in late April, and had coleslaw and tater salad (no, not him) with it.

Lets see.....

Bone in, Rib Eye steaks on the barbecue,

Homemade tater salad,

Broccoli salad,

Steamed mixed vegetables

Ice cream for desert.

That should do it!

Today is our 24th anniversary, so we'll be having Husband's favorites. (The kids won't complain either.)

mini (half, thin-sliced) rib eyes (barbecued)
cheese enchiladas
rice
fresh salsa
salad

I'd make his favorite dessert, but he's never hungry after this meal. And there are never any leftovers!

Brats simmered in Guinness with sourkraut on a whole wheat bun with spicy mustard. Ore-Ida crispy crowns. Fudge brownies for dessert. Oh, and did I say Guinness?:chg:

I give up.
Barbequed chicken, fresh green bean casserole, and I'm just now having a lovely local fresh peach for dessert.

All of the above sound great too. I'm going to have to try the Brats-n-Beer thing.

You guys have are having all the foods we plan on having over the next two weeks!. Here in Bodega Bay at an RV Park, we are preparing sauteed onions and bell peppers with sliced chicken/apple sausages over bow-tie pasta. We got rib-eyes and chicken ready to be BBQ'd and brats and sauerkraut, all planned for upcoming dinners.

Tomorrow we'll be at Humboldt Redwoods state park barbecuing those ribeyes for sure!

Spaghetti and meatballs that simmered all afternoon, with a side salad and biscuits.

Home made butter tarts for dessert.

Crockpot chicken stew with home grown meat, taters and veggies.

Easy and healthy for a hot, muggy day spent fencing and canning.

Saved, to glorify God.
Hot (cheese)dogs on a bun with home-made chili and all the nectarines and pears and peaches you can eat. (bought a big box of each from the "apple man" who brings them from eastern WA to sell along the roadside.)

You need to get some actual friends! You ask this question way to often. And I'm not sure that's what this board is for. Once in a while I can see...

I'm worried that next you will be asking bathroom questions.

We had grilled pork steaks, steamed broccoli and mashed potatoes.

Kinda like what BR had. Except these were store-bought pork steaks. I tried butchering a hog in the back yard once, but the neighbors complained to the homeowners' association. They made me get rid of the pigs. And the cows. And the goats.

Not sure about dessert. Maybe a bowl of ice cream. I'm too full now to think about it. :lkick:

Grilled t-bone over lump charcoal, fresh sliced cucumber with red onion from our garden in red wine vinegar, baked potato with fresh chives from the garden, fresh picked green beans, and a nice Zinfandel. Toasted marshmellows over the fire in the chiminea while we enjoyed God's blessings. :)

Homemade pho...chicken stock, thinly-sliced cheap beef, baby bokchoy, green onions, cilantro, jalapenos and lotso noodles, noodles, noodles...and apple slices from a tree our friend adopted at the community garden. Beer. Orange juice. Seltzer.

This too shall pass.
We had 'camp stew'. Grandma had been talking about it the other day, and decided to make some (the easy way, in the oven, instead of in the coals of a fire!). Veggies and hamburger cooked rolled up in aluminum foil, with a pat of butter (which was probably unnecessary, but that's the way she learned to make it). It's very good!

ETA: I hadn't read the thread before I posted, and I see you all are talking about the heat. It was about sixty here yesterday, and only in the upper sixties today. Frosted hard last night, and will probably do so again tonight. I have my window open, and am looking forward to a nice, snug night's sleep under my down comforter, LOL!

Pats of butter are never unnecessary, Freeholder. It's a basic element of good cooking. Butter enhances flavor without shocking the palate as modern MSG-laden food does.

And your Grandmother is a living testament to the fact that a high fat diet is healthier than the pundits would have us believe.

As for me, I ate fried bratwurst with Gundelsheim German sauerkraut.

Aluminum foil stew is great, even if you make it in the oven. I love it.

We had spaghetti with toasted bread slices. For dessert, flourless peanut butter cookies (the best PB cookies ever). This is making me want leftovers. LOL!

I just loooove these WFD? threads!

We had Ruben sandwiches (gorgeous piles of corned beef, raw saurkraut, Swiss cheese, 1000 Island w/ a hint of grated onion and horseradish,) on freshly sliced still-warm NY rye bread -all grilled in butter with sliced garden tomatoes. Chocolate milk shakes.

I keep meaning to try Alton Brown's celery syrup recipe for celery soda, but alas, the siren sound of chocolate milkshakes is too strong.

Gillman - we'll have to have the rest of our saurkraut mit d' sausages this veek, too! Have a wonderful trip - the weather here is IDEAL for a trip up the coast.

DDIL made chili rellenos (sp), spanish rice, refried beans and corn muffins. She also made fresh salsa. Friends were over to help us with a project. They brought homemade chips for the salsa. I prefer her enchiladas to the chili rellenos, but everybody else loved them.

I'm so lucky to have her. So is my son.
