One of the property managers of our apartment complex was murdered this weekend.
She lived on the property, so she was also a neighbor.
Please pray for the remaining family and friends of Linda Price. Her son was arrested this morning on suspicion of her murder. (note: the article says he was arrested Sat, but we're pretty sure it was Sunday morning since we awoke to the sound of the county police search chopper directly overhead, and it remained circling the area for about 30 minutes.)
The entire weekend around here was surreal. Dancingsloth and I are pretty shaken up.

T.O. man arrested in death of his mother
Woman was found in apartment complex where she worked, lived
The Ventura County Sheriff's Department has arrested a Thousand Oaks man on suspicion of killing his mother at the apartment complex where she worked and lived, authorities said Sunday.
Linda Price, 67, of Thousand Oaks was found Saturday morning at the Arroyo Villa Apartments off Via Petirrojo. The Sheriff's Department reported receiving a 911 call around 10:30 a.m. that a woman was not breathing.
Deputies arrived shortly thereafter and started cardiopulmonary resuscitation, but were not able to revive Price.
Suspicious injuries around her shoulders, head and neck brought in detectives from the major crimes bureau and medical examiner's office.
The coroner's office performed an autopsy Sunday morning and determined that Price had died from asphyxia caused by strangulation.
Information from the investigation led to the questioning of her son, Kenneth Paul Price, 39. The Sheriff's Department described him as a transient who lives nearby.
"Based on his statements, along with witness statements and physical evidence, investigators believe that Kenneth was responsible for the victim's death," according to a statement from the Sheriff's Department.
Kenneth Price was arrested Saturday and is being held at the Ventura County Jail.
As of Sunday evening, his bail amount was $505,000, and a court date was scheduled Tuesday at Ventura County Superior Court.
Kenneth Price has a long case listing with the Superior Court stretching back to 1996. His most recent convictions involved resisting, obstructing or delaying a peace officer or emergency medical technician earlier this year, and a 2007 conviction for a similar charge and trespassing. Past convictions dealt with driving and registration violations. In 1998, he was convicted of driving under the influence.
Linda Price worked in the office at the apartment complex.
On Sunday morning, residents received a note informing them "with great sadness and heaviness of heart" that Price was dead.
The note described Price as a valued employee of Shapell Industries for more than 12 years.
"She was a very nice lady," said Katheryn Smart, who has lived in the same complex as Price for three years. "She always asked about my kids."
On Saturday morning, Smart's husband came into the apartment about 11 a.m. and told her that Price was dead. Outside, police and crime scene investigators filled the courtyard.
When Smart later heard that authorities were investigating her death as a possible homicide, she was shocked. It's a quiet complex, she said, and she doesn't remember anything like this happening before.
About two weeks ago, however, Smart said she had heard a male voice threatening someone in Price's apartment around 2 a.m. She said she looked out the window but didn't see anything going on.
Price was well-known around the complex, and neighbors described her as nice and said she will be missed.
"I already miss her," said Sonja Nitrini, who has lived in the complex for about six years.
She said she would chat with Price when she dropped off her rent check in the office. They would share stories about being grandmothers, Nitrini said.
Kent Vierich, Price's upstairs neighbor, came home Sunday and found Price's door sealed with police tape. He was shocked to learn later that she was dead.
"She was a very quiet person and lived alone," he said.
Notices are posted around the apartment complex looking for Price's cat, a short-haired cream-and-orange tabby.
"My mother just passed away," the poster says, "and I can't find my way home."
