It's time to once again gauge the anxiety members are feeling regarding the current world situation and how they view the relative near-term future.

With a nod to JC Refuge, who developed and created this identical poll the first seventeen times, and to CfI for invaluable assistance, here we go again. The poll will remain up for five days. Your poll responses are private and cannot be viewed, but I encourage you to post your response and why you voted the way you did.

This too shall pass.
Has anyone ever done a chart (graph) coordinating those past scores with real-world events or expected events (such as, one of the highest scores was just prior to the anniversary of 9/11)?

I voted glued to the screen expecting the worst any day, which doesn't exactly describe where I'm at right now, but is the highest alert level I've ever had on one of these threads. Now, if we start bombing Iran, then we'll see about the bunker. Barring war, I don't really expect to see 'a day' when we can say, this is IT, TS has HTF! I think it's going to be a creeping miasma slowly strangling and smothering us and every last semblence of freedom that we still have.

This is the first time I’ve vote “glued to the screen, expecting the worst any day now.”

Mainly I never voted this option because I am never glued to the screen, however, things now can evolve very rapidly, the “ducks are all in a row.” We are in a hastened fashion, building up our reserves and mostly in energy and water preparations.

I voted watchful and ready. I was at the glued and freaked stage back in the spring and wore myself out planning and planting a bigger garden.

and also, we were concerned about people's disposable income disappearing, so we cleaned out the barn and house for needless items/toys and had a couple of yard sales. and once we paid $10 bucks at the local flea to tag a spot raise cash to pay down on the tractor. it went pretty well. we sold half the stuff we brought. we just parked the truck in our spot, let down the tailgate and put out a table of stuff and on the tailgate.

so, while I'm very concerned about chaos happening any moment, I'm kind of too burned out, and tired, to keep up the physical momentum.

besides, the garden is going gangbusters, and between my beans coming in, and I'm starting today to can them up, and peaches in at the local orchard, I guess you could say I'm just taking it one day at a time, and hoping for the best.

Last time I moved up to glued - I am now glued to checking in 4 at least times a day for current events. I am as prepped as I can be and just looking for a heads up of an hour or so to get home and off the roads before the DGIs.

I checked watchful and ready HOWEVER I woke up last night totally freaked out thinking I had heard explosions. No thunderstorms in the area so I know it was not that. I must have been dreaming but I literally had chills running up and down my spine. :shkr:

I don't believe I would ever go below watchful and ready. However I do feel that things are coming to a head and that something has to pop pretty soon. I don't think we are going to get past late fall without some major events taking place.

I put watchful and ready but I'm actually leaning a little more and more to glued to the screen !! Gardening and canning like crazy is keeping me from being glued to the screen though. I feel my time is better getting more and more done in that area. I just have a bad feeling things are fixing to go down hard and quickly ! Hope I'm wrong !!

I voted watchful and ready. Not exactly expecting anything TODAY but the not too distant future is a big concern.

I'm totally freaked and in my bunker. Naw. Been preping hard with food and other housewares. For some reason this week, I have felt more of a need to work on my web gear and bugout bags. Getting them in order and upgrading a few items on them. Working today on a small bugout bag for the wife to keep in the van at all times. That way she will at least have enough items to last her a good 5 days, to be able to make it home from work if she had to take out on foot.

When is the worrying, and prepping going to end? I keep saying to myself, this is enough stuff. Yea, months ago. So what am I doing now? Enjoying my brand spanking new 16 quart, stainless steal stock pot, that I finally broke down and bought it, from Costco. It has 4 large chickens in it, that I just cut up. Then when it is all cooked up, and chilled by tomorrow, I will can up some real nice chicken and broth. Nothing like home made chicken dinners to sooth the worries, and pains.

glued, figuratively. never voted this high on the chart before.
seems like each of the major projects that i've got going reached a certain critical plateau this past two weeks and then the literal rains burst forth just when it was ok for them to do so. ie: barely staying one half step ahead of the storms.

no time to let up on prepping.
food, water, shelter, clothing,
energy, tools, keep the money flowing in and out.

at the rate the foreclosures are taking banks down,
i'm thinking doomer doug's prediction of systemic collapse in 90 days might be
a little on the polly side.

starting to lean towards bruce beach's scenario. july 28th wouldn't be a huge surprise. just an unpleasant one.

I think that's a great idea. Just how does TBer's anxiety level relate to real events?

. . . .
Deemy,

My greenhouse got delivered this morning. Dropped a pretty good chunk on the one I bought, but thought it one of the more prudent moves I could make. Going to lay the timbers tomorrow and plow through the boxes of parts and pieces to see if it all arrived.

I voted watching and (almost) ready....

I voted glued to the screen, expecting the worse any day now.
For the past 2-3 weeks I've felt the need to prep harder and
to make sure everything is organized. (Just wished it was but
I'm trying my best between back and feet pain)

I've also felt a strong need to dehydrated as much food as I can.
I've been having strange dreams the past few weeks about
war, having to be sheltered in place, and having dehydrated foods.
What is strange is that I've even been reading less on TB2K lately and
listening to the news less, so I don't feel like the news is what's
causing me to feel this way.

However, with the urgency I feel to prep harder and that something
could happen any time I still have a peace inside that everything
will be okay. We just have to keep our Faith and Trust in the Lord
and He will carry us through whatever comes our way.

I would like those who have voted "absolutely no worries" to comment
why they feel this way.

I am also between watchful and ready and glued to the screen...computer screen mostly. It is more like waiting for the second shoe to drop.

In fact, I keep wondering why things haven't gone to "Hell in a Handbasket" yet. The waiting makes you crazy!!! Although more time is good for more prepping.

I posted glued to the tv but I don't really have time to be right now. Having a major cluster headache right now and I have 3 to 6 teenage boys coming in less than 2 weeks to stay during a Babe Ruth world series nothing is done and I am a wreck along with my house. Prayers needed.

Up to this point, I've always voted option 3 - watchful, just in case. Today, I voted #4 - "expecting the worst any day now." "Glued to the screen" doesn't fit, because that's not a part of my process. Now that I am working again, I have a list of things that need to be bought and done (fencing, bikes, etc) that are on our "The List." Gonna knock a few things off "The List" soon...

A couple of weeks ago I would have voted for freak out, but I have been able to calm myself and move back into watchful and ready. I have tryed to watch less news, enjoy life more and spend time with family, church and in my garden. The Lord knows what is coming for us and I don't but I do believe watching, waiting and ready is the best I can do while proceeding to love others, do good and enjoy life.

watchful, ready, and checking the preps, just in case

But not sure I could ever feel completely "ready", all I can do is try to be.

Watchful and ready, trying really, really hard not to be glued to the screen. Doing over my preps organization, extra canning, making list after list, stocking up on prescriptions, etc. But, my son and DIL just gave me my first grandson on the 13th and while I prep, my main focus is loving and treasuring my Mother, my children, my precious grands and my sibs.

You didn't have an option for me. I'm burned out and sick and tired of endlessly reading about crooked, lying, cheating politicians and crooked, lying and cheating big business CEO's, and floods of stories about people torturing children, small animals, and other humans. I'm also fed up to the gills with the way the "law" works and the judges that ought to be in jail rather than sending others there.

People are losing their jobs, their homes and the future sure doesn't look any brighter for them.

This country is in an economic melt down and the money we spend goes to China, Mexico and a whole list of other countries that turn out shoddy merchandise.

Medical care is beyond the reach of way too many citizens of the US. Yet we provide medical care, housing assistance, school for the children of illegals, and food stamps to people who shouldn't be here to begin with. And doing so cuts into the services needed and required by our citizens.

I'm still staying on top of the preps I can afford, am building a big garden this year for use next year, put as much food by as I can with dehydrating and canning. We eat meals at home, that we cook from scratch. We live below our means and if we want something, we (gasp!) ~save~ until we can pay cash for it.

So, color me burned out. I get so depressed sometimes that I want to climb into a cave and pull a rock over the entrance. Life is supposed to be much different than this. That's my opinion and I'm going to stick to it.

I'm aware of all the insanity going on, but I'm not dwelling on it anymore. I'm focusing my energy on enjoying every day I have with my adored, beloved husband and give thanks for all the laughter and joy we share.

What's gonna happen will happen and I don't think anyone has any idea when that will be. Five years, we were being told by scientists that the world was going to fall down around our ears in the next 60 to 90 days, exactly the same thing we are hearing right now. Yes, I'm convinced it will happen and things will go to hell in a very big way, very fast. Meanwhile, until then, I'm going to focus as much as I can on happiness, joy, good friends, good books - you get the idea.

Absolutely no worries. I would have voted "Don't really give a flying fig," but that wasn't there.

Just me, caring never made a difference, so it's easier not to.

2.05 is pretty high compared to past polls. What's got everybody on edge?
how long did past polls run?

Sorry for the delay, Knell...work intruded...lol

All polls have run five days. The last poll seemed to drag out and needed multiple bumps, so i queried whether to reduce the number of days to three or four. The conscensus(sp?) was that in order to preserve the integrity of a long-running base of opinion over a long period of time, and no way to norm a shorter poll with longer polls, it was best to just leave it at five days.

I voted watchful, ready, and checking the preps, just in case, but as the days pass I'm getting closer & clser to being glued to the screen.

Thanks again for doing the poll, Topusaret.

There have been other times I have been concerned, so it's not exactly something new.

What feels different to me is that numerous things are out of kilter right now. There are so many different areas of concern it'd be damn near impossible to stay on top in every category....it's hard not to conclude how incredibly vulnerable we really are right now.
