Overall, "Journey" was a good movie; I went last night with a friend.

Clean, family entertainment. There were a few scary parts that might frighten a small child, like when the prehistoric fish start jumping into the raft at the people, the T-Rex chase scenes, walking on the thin, cracking muscovite, and all the many other hairy situations that they get into. The glowing prehistoric birds are cool, and well as the underground sea and the mushroom forest. There's also a sad part when they find the missing brother/father dead. The ending is good; they end up sliding down the side of Mt. Vesuvius on a T-Rex skull. (started out in Iceland)

You definitely have to suspend disbelief for this one, but the CGI and special effects are very cool! I will probably take the kids to go see it.

That was so great!!! I wish that we had seen it in 3-D - that would have been so cool! I understand that it was filmed to be seen in 3-D, but only the MAJOR theaters are playing it that way.

Glad to hear this. And I especially like Brendan Fraser. He's very good in these types of movies. Like "The Mummy."

He could end up getting stereotyped in these types of adventures like Jeff Goldblum has, but that's ok, because if the audience really likes you in this stuff there's lots more money to be made.

Thanks for the tips. Sounds like a good one. :)

I had a friend that saw it at a "digital 3D" theater, and wore the high quality special glasses. He said it was freakin' amazing. Also, as a side note, according to my friend, he stated that Brendan Fraser (the lead actor) has been instrumental "behind the scenes" in developing this technology and is a big believer in digital film techniques. Pretty interesting to hear that coming from an actor...

(as another side note....the Japanese actor on "Heroes" who I can't remember his name actually has another life...I believe he worked with George Lucas in special effects before he became an actor...)

Did you happen to mean Nicholas Cage? Because I don't think Goldblum is type cast into sci-fi, is he?

Well, he was in another of my favorites - Independence Day!

Slight thread drift - did you see Hellboy2? It was really good - a lot of fun - a little scary - I jumped several times. My kids loved it!!!

The best scene was when Hellboy and his colleague (the Fish Guy) were slightly intoxicated and singing a Barry Manilow song!!!

Jeff was in The Fly, Independence Day, Jurassic Park 1 & 2. His popularity has increased tenfold due to these movies.

Copy that... 10 fold. BTW, The Fly was one of two movies in my very extensive movie going career that ever made me gag/dry heave. It was the donut scene. Took me by surprise those rat bastards.
