This was just sent to me in an email. You won't believe what they've done in just a few years. According to Wikipedia they have over 250,000 Asian workers building this city. Dubai is located across the Persian Gulf from Iran.
Much of this city is already built. How come I never heard of it on the news?

The news has been there if you were looking for it. I see mentions on tv and in the newspaper from time to time.

For example, there was a tv show a few years ago on the Burj al Arab hotel, the world's first "7" star hotel (although technically the rating system tops out at only 5). I don't know it for a fact (I could have the area of the world wrong), but I think the world's largest mall is now located somewhere in the Persian Gulf. In any case, the biggest mall is no longer the Mall of America. Same with the world's largest casinos, banks, hotels, etc., with the new ones making the US's best look a little pale in comparison. Some of the folks in the Persian Gulf are building entire artificial islands in order to build even bigger things.

Hansa...I'm surprised you're just hearing about this. First heard about this on Discovery I think. And then recently, it was some show called "How'd They Build That" or "Megastructures" or something or other--anyway, the host is this big friendly lug that goes around and asks tons of questions wherever the show goes each week. Apparently he was the first film crew to be allowed on top of that tall building down there...it was FREAKIN' AMAZING!!!!

Yes Dubai...talk about Babylon!!!

These are beautiful. One big quake where no mountain or wall is left standing will bring it right back into the sand. They need to enjoy it while they can.

My nephew who was an NHL hockey player....

(he can afford this place!!) stopped off in Dubai on his way to play in Japan......he sent photos of him and his dad at the ski slope, and he said the whole place was incredible. He didn't have words, so he sent photos. He will be taking his little family there again one day. Doesn't appeal to me, I don't like lots of people and bright lights, although it is very pretty and architecturally splendid in pictures......not much of a view toward the desert though.

Guess I don't watch enough TV anymore. :) I always thought N.Y.C. was Babylon.

The Pulse......
Dubai has been in the news a lot lately. It's where the uber rich and famous like to go and has held several golf tournaments there...Hosting Tiger Woods, etc...(before his injury..), and other World Championship events.

They have a shopping mall that produces snow so customers can ski while shopping.... Hotels with gold bath fixtures, etc...:shk: Yadda yadda...the same insane and overthetop show of wealth that any low-life-camel-jockey who suddenly comes into money would possess..

Women still wear burkas there and follow behind the men from what pictures I've seen..:shk:

They remind me of the Las Vegas of the Middle East....Cheap looking, Fake and destined to ruin someday...

My brother, who lives near there, says Dubai and the UAE, the most progressive of the Arab States, wants to become the new trade center of the world, as they realize they better invest the declining fabulous oil money into something lasting, before it runs out.

The new Burj Dubai tower will be the tallest in the world, and Saudi Arabia is considering a building nearly a Mile High ! When I read the Concrete Construction article on this Dubai engineering marvel, they said the concrete pumps develop 5000 psi to pump that high ( around 1700 ft, IIRC ), and at the end of the day when they empty the pipeline, it fills 15 front-discharge mixers with excess concrete. They really have some top civil engineers over there. There is also an indoor ski slope cooling over 18 acres below freezing, and blowing snow, etc. My bro. showed me extensive pictures of this. The rest of the city is also following suit in breathtaking upgrades. The reason for all the Asians there, is they are being wooed there for business, just as if it were Hong Kong.

Environmentally INcorrect disaster in the making.

No worries tho' - they'll buy some OwlBore Carbon Credits to make it OK.

My brother works for an international company based out of Sweeden. They had a company mandatory meeting of all the "big wigs" for a week in Dubai. They even had a dinner in hotel that looks like a sailboat. He said he has never been in such a place before. The opulance was amazing. He took his wife so she could shop. She said the malls were beyond imagine.

They also said that is was wierd. Even though they were around so much wealth, they still could feel the muslim undercurrents of mis-trust, being watched, wierdness. They said they were very glad to get home.

...and the USA is different ? :lkick:

Dubai is the most amazing and dynamic place on the planet. The only real problem it faces other than a crazy islamic rogue nuke, is sea level. The entire place would be flooded if sea level increases at even a moderate pace.

Been a long time since the US had anything to brag about.
Used to be we had the tallest buildings, the fastest trains.
Now it's always some other country that is claiming to have the best, fastest, biggest or tallest.

Thats not true.

We can brag that its U.S. money building places like Dubai everytime we fill up our tank for another $100 bucks!.

Thanks to not developing our own natural resources.

Dubai has LONG been the ne plus ultra for polo ponies around the world. They have recently become the location to go to either buy or sell thoroughbreds and other horses (Arabians, DUH!)..

Dubai is also where the Cleveland Clinic is opening up more capabilities than they have at home (if THAT is possible). Rather than take their royalty to the hospital, the Royalty decided to bring the hospital to them...

Dubai is now the home of some truly ground-breaking engineering technology, funded by their petro-dollars.

I by chance had a conversation with a building engineer from Canada who is probably over there by now. He's leading the effort for construction of a new island that will be using all-new technolgy to produce the island.

Instead of dredging up the sea bottom and moving it to build-up the island, they will effectively be operating a "man-made volcano" to create this island.

The material used is like a mix of high-tech concrete based on raw glass that will resemble basalt granite and be pumped down to the sea floor to build up the island to a height of 15 meters or so above sea level. The equipment moves forward onto the new land and the process is repeated as the island grows outward.

The idea is to use what if readily available to the builders at their location. The glass component uses the wildly abundant sand in Dubai and is made using their virtually free natural gas. The limestone for the mix comes from Italy, but the ships transporting are taking home materials from Dubai and actually will be hauling the limestone over as ballast.

The end result will be a product that is going to last almost forever. Glass does not erode and raw glass is extremely strong. In our conversation I made the comparison to basalt and the comparison was temed very valid by the engineer.

I'm looking forward to seeing this shown of Mega Builders and I'm sure the world will be seeing more of this sort of construction technology being used in countries where the economies are strong and not encumbered by wealth-tranfer payment schemes, like the US and Europe.

Just think what they will do with the next 7-10 TRILLION dollars we will ship there over the next 10 years. Yes folks, that is Trillion with a "T".

But don't worry, we are protecting the continental shelf and the polar dessert.

WildWeasel, good point. If you are wealthy in Dubai nobody taxes you to death. You STAY wealthy.

Of course if you are POOR in Dubai, it's YOUR problem.

This is really weird. Last night out of the blue.. I had like a voice in my head saying 'Do a look up on "The World"'.. and since I was bored I did, figuring I would see some atlas bs, but the first thing listed was 'The World' in Dubai, and I clicked on the link and watched all the videos for it, and something about the voice of the man in the videos and the people involved in it's making really creeped me out..and than today..This Post! eep.

Definately something strange happening there.

Did you miss hearing the sucking sound?

No it's been sucking for a long time and picking up speed. Where did you think
the new world order would be located. Not in the good ole USA that is why
every thing left the good ole USA. We've been screwed.Blued and tatooed.

Saved, to glorify God.
NOW who is for a little bit of PROTECTIONISM? They DO NOT WANT Americans to readily KNOW what is happening with all this transfer of wealth from America to China and the Arabs. They want us to keep believing Globalism benefits US. It "quiets" those who are getting fleeced, if they cooperate.

Our OWN GOVERNMENT has dealt TREACHEROUSLY WITH IT'S PEOPLE.

Actually, Dubai has been profiled and covered on the MSM for several years now. They've received much fanfare and it's considered the emerging business capital of the ME, if not the world! Most of the Fortune 500 international corporations have a presents there and anyone who is anyone in the global financial sector has an office in Dubai!

Now them's the worldly facts ... but personally I have a VERY, VERY, BAD AND SICKENING feeling about Dubai. As someone else mentioned, 'Babylon' IS NOT A STRETCH for me! I believe their exist an extremely evil and soon to be revealed end-times connection to that city!

Mention Dubai to me and my hair stands UP! Big Time!

..................

I'll bet these futuristic engineers are going to power up with the Sun instead of carbon, fossile or nuclear man made and troublesom energies.

As Bohannan said, the sun supplies us with a billion times our energy needs every single day. A wise man would find a way to discontinue dependance on all current fuels and find a way to harness only one half of one percent of sunshine to power our whole world.

My brother said that when he was in Dubai that they wanted to just go and look inside the hotel that looks like a sail boat. They charge $50 to enter the hotel and look around unless you have a room there (which costs are outrageous). Needless to say, they waited until they had the company dinner in the hotel to look around. He said it was like a dream.... so opulent.
