Membership Revoked
just got back we stayed in a cabin of a friends and eveything went well we spread their ashes this morning, but i have to tell something that happened with my four year old son last night,
it had already been a long day for me and i was tired by my brother in law and his kids all wanted to go down to the lake to go swimming
my son really wanted to go but i wanted to stay at the cabin and he said please daddy please and wouldn't take no for an answer
i really didn't mind him going with his cousins because they are all excellent swimmers and one was a lifeguard , but i relented and i rode my harley with one of his cousins on the back,i told him i'll watch you play on the shore but don't go out too deep as he has yet to sharpen his swimming skills,
so as i was chatting with my couisin my son asked if he could go over where the "not deep" water was with the ducks, it was probably a thirty foot inlet about twelve feet across and a real shallow looking beach area but i'll be damned if two feet after stepping in the damn thing turned into a nine foot deep hole so he was gone..he just disappeared under the water, i took off running as fast as i could in my boots and my riding gear i saw his head pop up again and then he went back down flailing i jumped in fully clothed and the damn water was over my head, but i managed to get him and get us both to shore, the reason i'm telling you this is two fold, first your security key fob works on a harley after its soaking wet, and secondly i think the spirit of my father in law was there with us making me look over just as my son disappeared, he really loved that little boy, and i'm just thankful he talked me into going
who knows how it could have turned out otherwise,one thing that was kind of intriguing and gave me pause was the fact that i had been wearing a black armband since the day he died, for the trip my wife gave me a small silver decorative pin to hang on the armband with her dads picture on it when he was in the navy,
as we were getting ready to leave the beach one of my cousins asked what that was on the ground so i looked down and there was john smiling up at me as if to say well done, i pinned him back on the arm band and off we went,
i kept the picture but this morning we had a private ceremony and i left the armband up there along with a baseball cap that said korean war veteran,
it was a nice way to end things for everybody and to really finalize things
