So after I got home today after gallivanting around town I spent a couple hours on the computer doing something that makes me money and I'm listening to the TnV.

Cnn is on and besides the Kennedy thing, and Hillary's kisser plastered all over the TV they, the bobble heads are talking about RECORD HIGH TEMPERTURES on the west (left) coast.

I'm thinking that now that we have hit the 90's it's NORMAL.

We're usually in the pool by late April or the first part of May but it's been a bit cool this spring.

Now that our temps are NORMAL, the MSM is spouting to the :sheep: that RECORD HIGH TEMP 20 degrees above normal, when in fact it has been cooler and they are finally getting back to normal.

Now, are my views on the weather off base?
We've been here 10 years now so I kinda got a feel for which way the wind blows and it's been blowing cooler.

Well, up here in "da tundra" we've only started getting leaves on the trees as of about FIVE DAYS AGO. Even now, the leaves are only about 40% "fluffed out". Been a VERY cool spring here.

Last night, the low temp in Atlanta, GA was only 2 degrees above the record low for this date. (WSB TV weather report)

Where I live now, in the mountains of PA, about 70 miles east of Pittsburgh, the temps have been unusually cool. The extended weather forecast is predicting more normal temps in about a week. Will see.

It's 20+ degrees above normal here and the heat will just head east making a poll pretty worthless. ;)

BTW, I think global warming is crap.

I mark things regularly on our calendar, and save them every year so I can look back and compare.

We are a LOT cooler here than last year at this time, we were in our pool on 5/8 last year for the first time, and no way is the water even close to being warm enough for swimming.

We are in an area that almost never gets snow, and a snowy winter for us would be 6" total for all winter. This year we had almost 2 feet of it.

Global warming my arse.

North Puget Sound area...NOT normal for May, that's for sure! IF we get into the 90's it doesn't usually happen until late July or August...this is scorching summer weather today for us and it's only MAY. We've been having some weird weather here most of the year so far anyway, so...whatever. Back in April we had days on end of only in the 40's with rain...then ONE DAY of mid-80's...and the NEXT DAY back into the 40's with rain...the NEXT WEEK...SNOW!

I just need to put things in perspective when the bobble heads start clammering about anything weather related. First, it's hot NOW. It doesn't matter what it was last year, or the last 10 years. That's besides the point. It's hot NOW. So, therefore, they have to make a story out of it, ESPECIALLY nowadays because of the global warming theory. So--yeah...it's hot now. Big deal. Why?

Because of my 2nd point. I DISTINCTLY remember as a kid in the 1970's in Pasadena, California REGULARY having temps in the high 80's and 90's in spring. I also remember those temps at times in the fall, and how we used to have "Smog Alerts" and we couldn't even go outside because of breathing problems. But what's more important--as an adult, I DISTINCTLY remember in 1992 or 1993...third weekend in April...and we had a MAJOR heat wave, with temps in the 100's all over southern California. It made the news, because it was HOT. But no one said crap about global warming. I remember in the summer of 1990. We had some strange heat wave that was WAY WAY WAY out of the normal--temps at the ocean were above 100, and temps in the valleys were in the 110-115 range. I was working a job in Long Beach, and had to drive home at 9pm to Pasadena. There was a temp guage off the 605 freeway up near Baldwin Park, and at 9:30pm at night, it read 109. Media covered it, because it was HOT. But no hysterics.

But guess what? When the handwringers of the world can stop being hysterical, they'll finally understand that local regional climate anomolies, like heatwaves, or bad rain storms, or a bad hurricane, are because of how elements come together at a certain time.

And that's been going on WAY LONGER than any of these Al Gore-bots have been alive.

WAY longer.

To proclaim or disclaim climate changes with a poll like this is to sit around a pot belly stove and say, 'yep, it sure is hot this spring' or 'yep, sure is a cool spring this year'.

Maybe we should go to a weather site and check the temps and the rainfall for the last 100 years and then say it is colder or warmer, wetter or drier.

Or we can just sit around the pot belly stove and bitch about the weather and spit on the stove once in awhile and listen to the hisssss.

According to our weather-muff (the honey that does the weather on the channel we watch) last year, for most of the continental US, was the coldest and snowiest in a decade.

It was hot today, although I don't think abnormally hot. The shock to the system was because five days ago - Monday night it was a hard freeze. Lost my tomatoes for the second time :)

Had really hot weather the last three days and only started to cool down last night. Tonight we're back to our old weather pattern. Nice cool marine air!

Well, please send some cool air this way - we are up past Sacramento and it has been unusually hot here - at least 100 today - and it came up so fast it is pretty hard to get used to. On top of that we have guests from British Columbia this week and they are finding it very hot, and they are hibernating in the air conditioned house!! Think they will be glad to get back home. We have at least 2 more days of hot weather before it starts to cool - which even I am looking forward to!

Ever since the 1970s, when i first noticed that the Jet Streams were flowing in radically different patterns than the norm, it seems like the temperatures are either way over or way under what the norms are supposed to be. It isn't uncommon for record highs to be recorded one day, followed by record lows, a few days later. Very few temperatures seem to be occuring, anymore, here in the Northeastern U.S. in the normal range. Everything is very unpredictable (which may explain why the weatherpeople have more and more trouble forcasting the weather correctly, these days). The poll seems to back up my observations, above.

We've been here 10 years and this has been the coolest spring yet by far. It has also been wetter than normal. Many of the people I work with have a handful of cows and usually they plan on getting the cows on grass after the first week in April, it was about a month later this year.

It's NOT global warming, it's global CLIMATE change.

Some areas will be warmer, some will be colder, some will be dryer, some will be wetter. This will cause crop damages as changes to growing periods, and season lengths in areas will change.

Yes I believe our planet's climate in total is changing.

It's caused by Al Gore giving of too much carbon dioxide & methane.

Seriously, what I don't believe is that MAN is mostly responsible. I don't believe that hugely expensive changes mankind is being asked to make will make any significant change NOR will it correct the problem.

What I don't wanna see happen is in thirty years, the real root cause of this problem discovered after companies are forced to spend hundreds of billion of dollars only to have the "experts" say to us all "oops, sorry we were wrong, you spent all that money and put all those companies out of business for nothing"

We set a record yesterday, both for daytime high, and a high overnight low, for the date. 95 degrees yesterday - record was 89. Thankfully the humidity was quite low, which made it not quite as miserable as it normally would have been.

Last week our area set a record for over night low then set a record for high temperature that day. Unusual but proves nothing.

In SW Fl we have warm muggy nights and hot days,
90+ degrees. This is about normal for our summer.

What we need is RAIN. We have a dought.
It's is affecting all our growing seasons, to the
point one of our largest packing houses just closed it's doors.

You northerners will see it in your prices for veg's, melons and oranges.

We have green tomatoes and pea pods already! It's going to be a great year for fresh veggies. Y'all ought to head south... we don't require passports and visas for Yankees down here (yet)!

We're definitely below normal temps here & they're forecasting below normal temps right to the end of the month. Currently at almost 1 pm it's a chilly 50F ... the forecasted high for today was 52, & we hit that at 11:30 this morning. I think the only thing I'll be growin' in the garden THIS year is lettuce, spinach & peas!

Yes, in Northern NV over 90 degrees in May is unusual. Then later this week we are supposed to get down to 37 which ISN'T that unusual for May around here. I just couldn't get the house cooled down last night which is VERY unusual for this time of the year.

Actually, cooler!!

Here in Arizona, it's cooler!!
Here it is, the middle of May and we have not hit 100 yet!!
Although, I expect that will change tomorrow.
It's supposed to hit 108.
I know that sounds bad to you folks back east, but it's just a normal late spring here in the vast Sonoran desert!!

Been chilly in eastern PA for the middle of May. But "they" call for a hotter than normal summer. If we could maintain 70 degrees for more than a day or two, it would be nice.

Well, we never got out of the 50's today with wind out of the north. I wore my winter coat when I went for a walk on our back property. Leaves still aren't fully out - crab apple just now budding. Lilacs just barely beginning to open. The tulips have lasted longer than I can ever remember. We're supposed to have frost tonight.

Dennis,

All the Spanish you need to know:

ALTO! ARRIBA LOS MANOS!

dd (12 gauge- the REAL universal language)

ALTO! ARRIBA LOS MANOS! means ' HIGH! UP THE HANDS!' in Spanish.

I'll tell them this, 'Pare o sea el Disparo'.
