Included are some pics of things I planted at the Changed compound. First I am going to post the fruit and nut trees.

Can you identify the trees?

Next I'll post pics of the bushes and vines. In order of appearance are raspberry, concorde grape, blueberry, strawberry, and cranberry.

Next are garden vegetables. In order: red pepper, red potato, peanut, squash, black bean. All of these grew from seeds we got out of the vegetables when we ate them. I bought raw peanuts from the grocery store and planted them and they actually grew. For the potatos, I soaked them in water until they started to bud and produce roots and then I cut them up and planted them. I have noticed that since I placed mulch around them, something is eating the leaves. I think it is slugs.

For the black bean I went to Walmart and bought those plastic bags of beans you see in the soup aisle. I planted them and they actually sprouted and are growing like crazy.

I also planted cotton and tobacco, but don't have pics of the tobacco.

The trees in order are: pecan, asian chestnut, peach, asian pear, and red delicious apple. I have at least two of each but didn't see the need to post all the pics. If you have never had asian pear, I recommend that you buy some from the grocery store. They are crispy like an apple, but have a pear taste, not mushy.

I have been planting things with a fury because of the skyrocketing fuel and food costs.

Also planted but not pictured include onions, carrots, lettuce, corn, green pepper, garden been, broccoli, cucumber, and cantaloupe.

Cant see pics on cell ph but sounds great. My garden has 14 dif crops all doing well. Got 7 rows of corn planted just before rain.

Holy cow, I identified four trees right, generically speaking (pecan, apple, pear, peach).

Probably because I have all those. :)

I'll be a country boy yet.

Everything looks great!

Older, fatter, grayer, slower... 8^)

dd (That was the answer I used to get from a friend in Special Forces every time I asked him how he was doing. Funny thing is, now I'm growing that way too!)

This spring we set out mulberry, pawpaw, pear and mission olive trees; about 10 grape vines; and built 4 raised beds for vegetables and herbs. Plants that you can eat are a great investment.

You are doing good !

We haven't gotten to planting nut tree. We have some very old walnut trees that need to be taken down and that is not going to make the squirrels very happy.

Changed,

That's quite a Victory Garden you have there!

Looks great!

We all really need to follow Changed's example and get out in the yard and plant some stuff. It will help on the budget, give us exercise, provide us with healthier food than we can buy in the store....

Thanks for the pics, Changed...

Wonderful Work!

Thanks for posting, Changed. It's always fun and inspiring to see another's projects.

I will have to try those Asian Pears - that's something that I've never eaten. Might have to add that to our orchard if we like them. Thanks!

Awesome Changed ! I wish I could grow some nut trees here but I've been told by all the nurseries they just don't do well here. :(

Potato leaves are sensitive to moisture...pull back the mulch and let them dry out....don't water potatoes too much...give a few days between good waterings to let the ground dry out.

Had the same problem...just too much moisture. Not slugs for me.
