The secret of emerging victorious from a game of Alaskan-style 'Tag'
such as this.....is to lay down a thick, viscous trail of *fertilizer* on
the ground between you and the pursuing bear. The bear will step in
the slippery fertilizer and lose its footing....thus enabling you to quickly
escape.
I know you must be wondering.....where the hell does one find 'fertilizer'
in such a snow-covered and remote area -- and in the heat of a game
of polar bear 'tag'?? No problemo....the sight of the large and determined
bear in hot pursuit and determined to 'tag' you....will induce a very ade-
quate, spontaneous and naturally-occuring source of 'fertilizer'....right
where and when you need it.
Trust me....it will be there! :D

So cute.....

the little white teddy bear standing up on his little legs to peer at the critter running around a truck.....why couldn't he just stay still a bit, so he could get a closer look.

And of course the bait got away - in the other vehicle.....probably just sat in there till the bear wandered off.

Soooo............."what's the rest of the story?"

I'll take some literary liberties here, and call like "I" see it.

Like they say about any wild animal attack, you don't have to be the fastest runner, just be faster than ONE other fellow.

The faster fellow, well, he's in the Bronco laughing his ass off at Mr. White-turned-Brown pants.

So how did you get these pictures? Who was filming it and couldn't they help?

These pictures were sent to me by my brother. I 'snoped' polar bear and couldn't find anything. There was NO accompanying story with these pictures.......

I'm guessing that the poor fellow is D-E-A-D.

The 'other' photos probably weren't circulated because of the attack and for the families sake.

Does anybody have any insight or news on these photos? I sure don't.

IMO, if there was a firearm nearby it would have been used emergently and that game of 'tag' wouldn't have happened. At all. One can only assume the worst here. That is NOT a playful bear, that's a determined bear and needed to be killed.

This too shall pass.
Why would someone lock their doors in (what looks like) the middle of nowhere???

I was wondering that, too, but then was thinking that if there are two vehicles there, they are probably not too far from town (possibly Point Barrow?) and crime rate is likely high. I'll have to ask my sister-in-law, who has spent about half of her life in Barrow.

In any case, inside the vehicle might not be much safer than outside -- that bear could get in, if he wanted to.

And I knew enough to listen to BFC's warning about that link, LOL!

I remember this! Didn't the guy have to shoot through his leg/ankle to hit the bear?

That would sure explain the tennis ball sized hole in his ankle, clem.

Thanks for the explanation...I was totally baffled by how a bear could make a hole like that.
