Fix Our Flag

I am sure in the past we have discussed this before. But as I watching a movie this began to bother me. I was wondering if it bothers you?

The backward American Flag is now becoming part of police, fire and first responder uniforms throughout the country. This is largely due to their support of the troops and their effort to appear more "military."

The backward American Flag added to the Army field uniform on February 3rd of 2005 by the Secretary of the Army, General Peter J. Schoomaker, United States Army Chief of Staff, under Regulation 670-1 (chapter 28, Wear and Appearance of Army Uniforms and Insignia, which authorizes the wear of the reverse: side full-color U.S. Flag cloth replica on utility and organizational uniforms on a permanent basis).

The regulation states that when authorized for application to the proper uniform the American flag patch is to be worn, right or left shoulder, so that “the star field faces forward, or to the flag’s own right. When worn in this manner, the flag is facing to the observer’s right, and gives the effect of the flag flying in the breeze as the wearer moves forward.

The backward American Flag is referred to as the "reverse" side flag by the military. These photos clearly show there's no true American Flag present on the left shoulder. Why on earth would they automatically include a backward American Flag on the uniform when there is a perfectly good spot open for the real American Flag?

God has a plan, Trust it!
In 2005, they had insugents who were using "like" uniforms and posing as American soldiers to get into areas they shouldn't be. There were numerous alerts of uniforms missing.

To combat that, they put the backwards flag on the uniforms going forward so they could track "real" uniforms from those that were copy-cats.

Now I think its just "stuck" since we've been there so long and the Iraqi's know to look for that symbol.

I don't take it as being backward. If you are moving forward, that would be the direction of the flag if you were actually carrying one. But then again I look at things with an optomistic point of view.

Just imagine that the flag is on a staff, and is being carried aloft in a parade.

If you, the observer, are viewing the flag from the left side of the street, the blue field is on the flag's upper left, as we normally think of seeing it.

If, on the other hand, you are viewing from the right side of the street, the blue field appears on the flag's upper right. That's just the way the flag looks from that side.

There isn't any issue here. You just need a bit of imagination.
