A varigated Chokecherry! COOL!
How could I find out if its propagatable or not? I am NOT a plant biology major.

Well I am, but I won't begin to try to explain the different kinds of variegation, not when there's the internet. Wikipedia is always a good place to start. I did have to look up chokecherry to see if it was a real cherry. Prunus virginiana. It is cherry. You could take a cutting of the variegated portion and see what happens, see if it comes back next year. Or you can just leave it and enjoy it! It's kinda cool.

Variegation

I've got some Hebe that I purchased variegated. Very pretty, but over time the variegation gave way to regular green foliage. Other plants, the variegation stayed. Funny how it works.

My first thought on the chokecherry was "kill it before it spreads" but if you want to propagate it, then by all means . . .

To each his own.

I don't know exactly what a chokecherry is, but regarding the variation (it IS pretty): a) it will probably have to be vegetatively propagated (cuttings) b) you will probably have to vigilantly pinch off normal leaf sprouts/vines, and c) the varigation may be produced because of a virus.

I say that because in Holland, when they had their big tulip bulb bust, the varigations were virus caused (today they are not) but sometimes I see varigated wild (?) mustard, and it does not looke quite right.

On the other hand, you may have a valuable plant!

I'm going to my favorite nursery tomorrow and am going to take one of the pics with me and see what they say.....
There are some tree type chokecherries with purple leaves they use for a landscape plant, this one sure would be pretty if it stayed to form, some mutations/sports don't. This is just common chokecherry, which suckers. A LOT.
It would be cool to have a plant named after oneself, wouldn't it?
