What is Goin' On?

I am 50 years old. Father of five. Married 32 years to one.

I look out across the last few weeks and shake my head wondering, "what is goin' on?". I am not sure what counsel to give my four married and one in school children. The calamity after calamtiy has risen to a height where I am starting to wonder if this is "just the begining of trouble", or are we about to slip down a slope with no power over stopping the slide.

I get the feeling that suddenly, everything that I depend on, trust and keep me and mine comfortable are about to seriously interrupted to the point of never be seen again.

What is next? 10,000,000 people killed in one event. A volcano erupting that sends the planet into a few years of no crops?

How bad does it have to get before we, "turn from our wicked ways"?

All I know is that life as I have grown to know it is suddenly changing at pace that is unsettling. The downward spiral seems to have a power, a destiny and power of it's own.

I have been wondering the same thingthe last few weeks....volcanos, eartquakes, children dying, cyclones.....
When are people going to figure it out??
God is giving His warning....

The Lord says fear not for these things must come to past.

We live in the times of the signs, folks. Even with all these catastrophic events going on, what is amazing to me is the level of vitriol, hatred and outright threatening of Christians almost everywhere I look. Right here in the U.S.

As troubling as these times are right now, we can live in peace if we believe God and do the things we know to do to prepare our families for shelter in the storm.

As to people not seeing it, well, the Bible says people will be deceived, and it's pretty obvious that's coming to pass.

Yes the signs are everywhere, it can't get much more obvious. Even the most asleep people are starting to say 'what the heck is going on?" People that I've known my whole life that never were into religion or anything are starting to ask me about prophecy & stuff cause they know I've been studying bible prophecy for years.

I feel awful that I have stopped trying to warn people. They have all basically told me that there is something wrong with me to be thinking so negatively all the time and that things are a little rough but it is just a phase of life and it will get better too.

I struggle with if I should just keep saying something even if they close the door on me completely or if I should just quietly keep preparing and if it is God's will - I will have the preparations to help them and then they can let me tell them about Him.

Any and all advise is welcome.

Whatever is going on does seem to be getting worse lately.

Counsel your adult children with the truth -- not just the good, but also the bad, and the ugly -- in explicit detail. They will thank you for your candid and forthright approach. Do NOT mince words.

Instruct them in the power of PC, and how it is employed as a control mechanism AGAINST truth.

Teach them how NOT to be sheeple.

Discuss the U.S. Constitution and what the founding fathers intended vs. what is actually going on today within our Executive, Congressional and Judicial branches of government.

Instruct them in the art of contrarian thinking, and how to read between the lines.

Help them to understand international business interests vs. national interests -- banking, manufacturing, professional services -- and how our middle-class is being eroded by the offshoring of jobs.

Talk about the mainstream media, and its true agenda -- exists to sell advertising, spread propaganda, fan emotional flames -- and on OCCASION, accurately reports the news.

Have them read and discuss "The Prince," by Machiavelli, in conjunction with a quick read and understanding of the Hegelian dialectic, how these two are related, and how they are used in our modern world to control the passions, perspectives and emotions of our citizens.

Delve into the power represented by the Federal Reserve, and how that power has been wielded in our nation and our lives -- particularly focus upon the devaluation of the dollar, the corrosive nature of inflation, and usury. Reflect upon recent Wall Street shenanigans, and the role played by the Fed in these events.

This is a good start -- more to cover, once these items are digested and understood.

it's a slippery slope alright

It seems that we all feel that a downward spiral, or vicious cycle which feeds on itself, is in control now. We can learn from the past - and the best examples I can think of as lessons right now are Noah and the Ark and Lot and Sodom and Gomorrah.

Yes, it seems folks in our system/country/world are rushing blindly off a cliff, in so many ways. Perhaps humans like lemmings self-destruct every so often, I don't know. These things happen sometimes, conditions change and people go on as if they didn't, and we can't wait for everybody to smarten up and realize that what seemed a good idea yesterday was folly, and may be suicidal today. We can't change the world, we can only change ourselves. When you realize that a certain behavior is insane, or leading to a bad end, make like Lot and make your own decision, quietly, without waiting for crowd's approval.

Thanks for expressing so well, AdmiralHalsey, what so many of us are feeling in our hearts. It's a heaviness, and hard to carry sometimes.

I feel the devil is working overtime. I work with a bunch of people, 7 to be exact, who all profess how they go to church and are good christians, yet one verbally abuses me and when I try to stick up for myself I am told I live in a warped sense of reality and I am being argumentative. It sickens me. The big boss sticks up for the verbal abuser. There are a few who see what is happening to me but will only speak with me about it and try to comfort me since they would be a target.

These people are skimming off the dole in our workplace and show no remorse what so ever.

Anoth guy I work with is constantly using the Lord's name in vain in one breath and telling me what happened in church in the next breath.

I cannot leave my job it is not an option at this time but I tell you I am so disheartened by the whole situation. I wish it would stop.

Well, the calif. ruling doesn't please God, of that I am sure, however, I do not think he has lifted his hand from us, we still have alot of people praying for this country.

Yes, praise God, so are my kids [all grown up now]. Thanks be to God, that's a big worry off my shoulders. No matter what happens, they belong to Him.

Emily, people believe exactly what they want to believe. All you can do is give them an option, they have to make the decision for themselves, just like we did. If you stay quiet, the evil wins.

Ask yourself who you would want to see in heaven beside standing beside you, i.e., a good friend that doesn't know Christ yet, or a relative, etc. Then go tell them. Even if they say you're nuts, or they say no, you can at the least have some peace knowing that you gave it a shot.

But most importantly, don't stay quiet. Listen to the still small voice. He will tell you if you are wasting His time.

Every time I think I've seen the worst possible perversion in mankind, I get shocked yet again. It seems that we've arrived at the point where "good is evil and evil is good." I am SO tired of it all, and I firmly believe that we are in the VERY last days. (That's why I started a thread on reopening the MAG rooms here on the forum.)

Dennis, Over the centuries I am sure humans have thought that "the end must be near". But the calamties and distress of today seem to be everywhere, all the time. No matter where you look in the world, humans are becoming more and more selfish and cruel. I don't have much time to stay on top of world happenings, but what I do see leads me to agree with you to a point. In only my opinion, I believe that those who believe WILL KNOW when He is about to return. I'm not talking about yadayada, ya He's returning...ya I get it. I talkin' about, a couple of days before He returns, those who believe WILL KNOW that He is showing up this week. For those who are not believers, He will arrive "as a thief in the night".

So are we in the VERY last days. You would be hard pressed to convince me otherwise. It is not the end just yet because if I was, Timebomb 2000 would be lit up like the fourth of July with believers who KNOW what is about to happen.

I liked KateCanada posting the Serenity prayer... here is another prayer I have learned this past year... I have this long commute to work and started listening to books on tape, lectures, etc... anything besides the radio.

I really like the Carolyn Myss tapes... and this is a prayer she talked about....

When life starts getting tough and we start heading in a downward spiral of negativity, just start blessing our lives...

"Bless my house, bless all my stuff, bless my cats, bless my health, just keep me going..."

You can fill in with what you want to bless, add " just keep me going" on the end....

Seems to make the days go a bit easier...

Truely, it has become a mad world...

The Invisible Woman!

It started to happen gradually…
One day I was walking my son Jake to school. I was holding his hand and we were about to cross the street when the crossing guard said to him, “Who is that with you, young fella?”
“Nobody,” he shrugged.
Nobody? The crossing guard and I laughed. My son is only five, but as we crossed the street I thought, oh my goodness, nobody?
I would walk into a room and no one would notice. I would say something to my family, like “Turn the TV down, please.” And nothing would happen. Nobody would get up, or even make a move for the remote. I would stand there for a minute, and then I would say again, a little louder, “Would someone turn the TV down?” Nothing.
Just the other night my husband and I were out to a party. We’d been there for about three hours and I was ready to leave. I noticed he was talking to a friend from work. So I walked over, and when there was a break in the conversation, I whispered, “I’m ready to go when you are.” He just kept right on talking.
That’s when I started putting all the pieces together. I don’t think he can see me. I don’t think anyone can see me.
I’m invisible.
It all began to make sense, the blank stares, the lack of response, the way one of the kids will walk into the room while I’m on the phone and ask to be taken to the store. Inside I’m thinking, “Can’t you see I’m on the phone?” Obviously not. No one can see if I’m on the phone, or cooking, or sweeping the floor, or even standing on my head in the corner, because no one can see me at all.
I’m invisible.
Some days I am only a pair of hands, nothing more.
Can you fix this?
Can you tie this?
Can you open this?
Some days I’m not a pair of hands; I’m not even a human being.
I’m a clock to ask, “What time is it?”
I’m a satellite guide to answer, “What number is the Disney Channel?”
I’m a car to order, “Right around 5:30, please.”
I was certain that these were the hands that once held books and the eyes that studied history and the mind that graduated summa *** laude – but now they had disappeared into the peanut butter, never to be seen again.
She’s going…she’s going…she’s gone!
One night, a group of us were having dinner, celebrating the return of a friend from England. Janice had just gotten back from a fabulous trip, and she was going on and on about the hotel she stayed in. I was sitting there, looking around at the others all put together so well. It was hard not to compare and feel sorry for myself as I looked down at my out of style dress; it was the only thing I could find that was clean. My unwashed hair was pulled up in a banana clip and I was afraid I could actually smell peanut butter in it. I was feeling pretty pathetic when Janice turned to me with a beautifully wrapped
package and said, “I brought you this.”

It was a book on the great cathedrals of Europe. I wasn’t exactly sure why she’d given it to me until I read her inscription. “To Charlotte, with admiration for the greatness of what you are building when no one sees.”
In the days ahead I would read, no, devour, the book. And I would discover what would become for me, four life-changing truths, after which I would pattern my work:

• No one can say who built the great Cathedrals—we have no record of their names.
• These builders gave their whole lives for a work they would never see finished.
• They made great sacrifices and expected no credit.
• The passion of their building was fueled by their faith that the eyes of God saw everything.

A legendary story in the book told of a rich man who came to visit the cathedral while it was being built, and he saw a workman carving a tiny bird on the inside of a beam. He was puzzled and asked the man, “Why are you spending so much time carving that bird into a beam that will be covered by the roof? No one will ever see it.”

And the workman replied, “Because God sees.”

I closed the book, feeling the missing piece just push into place. It was almost as if I heard God whispering to me, “I see you Charlotte. I see the sacrifices you make every day, even when no one else does. No act of kindness you’ve done, no sequin you’ve sewn on, no cupcake you’ve baked, is too small for me to notice and smile over. You are building a great cathedral, but you can’t see right now what it will become.”

At times, my invisibility feels like an affliction. But it is not a disease that is erasing my life. It is the cure for the disease of my own self-centeredness. It is the antidote to my strong, stubborn, pride.

I keep the right perspective when I see myself as a great builder. As one of the people who will show up at a job that they will never see finished, to work on something that their name will never be on. The writer of the book went so far as to say that no cathedrals could ever be built in our lifetime because there are so few people willing to sacrifice to that degree.
When I really think about it, I don’t want my son to tell the friend he’s bringing home from college for Thanksgiving, “My mom gets up at 4 in the morning and bakes homemade pies, and then she hand bastes a turkey for 3 hours and presses all the linens for the table.” That would mean I’d built a shrine or monument to myself. I just want him to come home. And then if there is anything more to say to his friend, to add, “You’re gonna love it here.”
As mothers, we are building great cathedrals. We cannot be seen if we’re doing it right. And one day it is very possible that the world will marvel, not only at what we have built, at the beauty that has been added to the world by the sacrifices of invisible women.

And yes, we MAY indeed be in the very last days but one must also consider that things "seem to be accelerating/getting/worse/more frequent/whatever" to a large extent because we live in a much more connected world thanks to the Internet, 24 hour multiple news channels all around the world, etc.

We all hear MORE stuff FASTER from places all around the world that we would never have heard or known about 10, 20, 30, 40 years ago. SOME, maybe even a lot, of what we PERCEIVE as "MORE" or "WORSE" may appear that way simply because we might never have even known about it in the past....even though it might have been happening at about the same rate...the fact and news of it just never made it to "our world" a few years ago like it does today.

Absolutely Kris. That's another prophesy fulfilled. So many things are coming true!!!!

If you lived in England in 1349 at the height of the black death, you would probably think the world was going to end at any minute. And you would probably look on the world today as an absolute utopia.

The world is going to go on - and go right on changing. Some of the changes are going to be difficult, but things could be a whole lot worse.

I love the pop corn guy in your context.

When you know the outcome (the end) everyday does not have to be "days of dread". You can't fix the evil in the world with humour, but it sure makes swallowing that pill a whole lot easier.

One thing that makes me cringe is the amount of people that have 'dead eyes'. It's almost like they don't have a soul. Kids used to have twinkling bright eyes, now they too have 'dead eyes'. What is it?

This place is filled with people who call themselves "doomers," who think every little thing is a portent of the collapse of society. Hang out here too long and you start to think like that (even Pollyannas like me ).

I think there will be he11 to pay for the California ruling? Let's see, more fires? maybe a few floods and then some landslides? Or better yet, a San Fransisco earthquake? (so sorry to the good people that live there) but California just keeps offending GOD. I agree disaster after disaster all over the world, death from all kinds of natural and man made stupidities following these events.

Except for here in North America.

Tell me, besides the screw up post katrina, when was the last time the US, Canada or even Mexico has lost 10,000 people at one event.

Yes we have been lucky to avoid the big Earth Quake, Volcano or big Hurricane so far.

I guess CONUS benefits from the industrial revolution and how the continent was developed over the past 75 years.

We are very lucky to be living in the US because it seems to be avoiding the really bad natural disasters at least for now!

Is it because we as a country are morally correct, and that God really loves us more here in the United States and makes other countries suffer or is it just location, location, location.

I feel we have someone watching us here and possibly it's devine intervention that helps us here in the US, really truly I do.

Yesterday was just such a bad day...it was almost like hate ...and destruction and all things bad were whirling through the air everywhere . I came home from work and when I finally had time I got on TB and started to read this thread....fell asleep over this thread. Was to bummed and demoralized to reply.
It is two minutes to midnight...and the spiritual darkness is so thick that normal....temporal sight is completely gone. Without the light of the spirit...we will be lost....forgot to pray for that light yesterday morning and got a taste of what it is like to wander in the dark.......not going to do that again.
