Shelf life for canned juices

Does anyone have an idea what a realistic shelf life for canned juice is? We have some canned orange and pineapple juice. Use by dates are generally about a year, but most of these dates are overly conservative. On the other hand, these juices are quite acidic, so I wouldn't expect them to last as long as many canned goods.

What's your experience?

Canned orange juice doesn't seem to last very long. (Then again, the only time I buy it is in the plastic bottles, meant for "single serving" use... and those definitely turn dark and change color by soon after their "use by" dates).

Pineapple juice, despite being acidic, seems to keep in our cool cellar quite well in the metal cans. After a couple years beyond the date, you can see some changes in the metal of the cans on the inside, but even hubby's "super sensitive" tastebuds don't complain about the juice.

For long lasting juice storage, those "shelf stable concentrates" in aluminum cans are great. They are also quite expensive per ounce, which seemed odd to me- they have to be cheaper than shipping all that water weight, you'd think?

The last suggestion I have is to go HERE:
www.rppsupply.com

They have shelf stable juice concentrates in 1/2 gallon plastic jugs... they dilute at 7:1, so each jug makes 4 gallons. The price per gallon is about 1/2 to 1/4 the price for pure juice at the grocery store.

And the really great thing is: NO high fructose corn syrup, no added sugar... they are 100% juice. They DO have artificial flavorings and colors, but they have excellent flavor, and the only "sweetener" is pear juice concentrate. You can mix and match flavors to get a case price. I bought one of each of 6 different flavors to try, and we like them all. They don't have a "use by" date on them anywhere, which is sort of weird, but we're on the last bottle from my first order, which is about 22 months old, and the stuff is fine.

our juice stored in cans did not last near as long in taste as the ones in glass - they were small bottles - have had pretty good luck with juices in plastic bottles also - some 5+ years old - some difference in taste but still ok - the cans had a metal taste to me and a change in normal taste after just a couple years - this was orange, apple and grapefruit juice - the concentrate cans were yes and no - the Ocean spray crannbetty juice are now 3 years old and doing fine - had some welch and for get the other name that were different concetrated juices and some leached through the cans and others had weird taste when made - sticking with the large bottles - they last and are usuable to store so much more when emptied
