Any lessons from Lebanon?

Where's all the huffing and puffing about how the very minor tiff in Lebanon was going to plunge the world into nuclear-doom-whatever? There were reports of ferocious and heavy fighting but the actual dead seem to number less than 20. It seems very quiet over there. I've been called a polly DGI and have been accused of not understanding the immense and heavy gravity of what was about to happen.

So, did it happen and we're all dead as predicted? Is it still about to happen any minute and I'm just not patient enough? I ask again, what's the big deal and where's the doom-beef?

When we're done with Lebanon I'll ask the same regarding Serbia and Kosovo. Now *that* was supposed to be the big one, right? Doom in our time. Nukes flying everywhere as Russia and Nato went for the throat. No beef there either...
