I have to go for an MRI tomorrow. Six weeks ago during an Ultra Sound to check out a uterine fibroid the tech discovered a cyst on my ovary. I had the CA125 screening that came back very low (an 8 which is great) and a follow up US last week. The cyst grew from 5.4 cm to 5.9 cm and I was told it has to go! The doctor has assured me that he sees nothing suspicious and that it is either a hemorraghic cyst or a dermoid cyst. Not being content with good news I went on the web and discovered that 20% ofovarian cancer does not cause an elevated CA125. I asked my doc and he said most common forms of the cancer did cause an elevation and again he saw nothing suspicious and I would be fine. I'm pretty sure the MRI is to determine what kind of surgery I'll have (lap vs open) but I am really nervous about the MRI-not the procedure-the results.
I'm 45 with 4 kids 5 to 12, and I am just about to open my own little store in June. Everything was going so well, until this. Ugh. I also just discovered because of my extra dry hair and sleepiness during the late afternoon that my thyroid is completely out of whack! My meds haven't changed since I was put on them in 1998. I had my levels checked in January and by March they had changed. They upped my dose of synthroid but I'm still tired, cold and flakey (my skin not my brain, that went years ago!).
Please keep me in your prayers, I need some help along the way this week!
Thanks,
RD
