Interesting in a digital camera age, I can still find someone using a 4x5 camera - looks like lots of film in his pouch, too.

Not that far away . . .

Such a difference in cameras!

Perhaps the difference between using a view camera and a digital one is like holding a fine leather bound novel and savoring its feel and scent as much as the tale within ....... as compared to reading the same story online .........

But what would a 4x5 equate to????/

It's gotta be something like 100 or 200 megapixels.

More???

One of my favorite cameras is a 4x5 Graflex Speed Graphic. Great camera - you're limited by the amount of film you can carry, which makes you a lot more careful about composing your shots.

There are still a lot of people out there using old film cameras. Even vintage cameras with film you can still get or find unused on ebay. Want a realistic looking old photo? Just use a vintage camera with film that you can still get from obscure manufactures.

There are a few out there still.

Still A Geology Fanatic
I am one of those antiquated photogs... yet to enter the digital world. First and foremost I am an artist....and digital has some refinements yet to be made to satisfy my artistic eye.
Film captures and enhances nuances of light and shadow that digital often misses.

I have a 4X5....that granted.... sits in its bag...in this hustle bustle world. Getting out the 4X5....is akin to hitching up the horse and buggy. It takes planning but once set up and used when the light has not gone flat one gets a photo......richly detailed.

Alas....there is usually no time...so I get out the Pentax...my favorite workhorse camera. I have three.

Lately I have been scanning and storing....it seems like millions of old photos....onto my hard drive. Going into the digital realm backwards.
