Catch a falling star

So last night before retiring I took one last look at the sky. And there, was a falling star. We’ve all seen them, brightly flashing across the sky as it travels through the earth’s atmosphere. Zipping to earth only to disappear somewhere over the horizon.

Have you seen one that wasn’t totally consumed before streaking across the sky? Have you ever wondered if there was anything left to impact the earth?

Last night was a rare treat. Not only did I see a falling star, the star landed on the mountainside about 2 miles (as the crow flies) away.

As it crosses the sky a falling star appears white but let me tell you, this one wasn’t. Oh the tail was white but as it dropped closer to the mountainside I could see its color was an iridescent green. Captured against the stark white snow covered mountainside. The surrounding mountains echoed the crackling sound it made while falling.

I’ve always wondered…. Now I know.

The White Cliffs of Dover caught alot of falling stars.

We have 3 in a old cigar box that were DUG OUT in the 1950s.
