Just turned on the local ABC affliliate and there are at least 7000 people clogging the streets of Detroit as they try to make their way to the Federal Building.

I just warned DH who is on his way down there to pick up parts for our oil change.
I think he's taking the freeway but if anyone needs to get down Michigan Ave., they are out of luck. I expect this only to grow now, especially since the media is covering it. They are not due to pass legislation till tomorrow and so that gives the crowds a lot of time to grow, especially with the warm weather today.

Seriously, its time for ICE to go into the crowds and start picking up the illegals. If the legal ones want to protest fine, but the rights of a citizen (including the right to protest) does not extend to someone not legally in this country.

Well, it's a mix of Mexican flags and American flags. As soon as the newscaster had the camera turned on, the protesters starting chanting so loudly- something none of us could make out- that we could hardly hear her. One woman is mad that her nephew is Cuban-Mexican-American and serving in the US military yet she could be deported. Whatever. We were active duty military too and i can tell you from experience, it was the minorities with all the rights. Everyone plays the race card in the US military.

Now huntington park highschool in Bell California has walked out in protest.

Also Dallas Texas I am hearing about another protest rally.

If someone is in the US military, that means that they are a legal US resident. They can't be deported.

Having a nephew in the military does not confer any rights. If she is here illegally, she should be deported.

One of the things that here nephew is fighting for is for the rule of law to prevail in this country, not the rule of a mob. I suspect he would agree with me that his crazy aunt should be deported.

Listen, I am not claiming to be a prophet here but I suspect that if these protests escalate into riots, which is entirely possible here in Detroit where they burn buildings when the wrong team wins- we could see martial law ushered in one city at a time. Think about it, these illegals cannot be prosecuted here, they have to be deported, but when you are talking about thousands of people at a time, I could see massive measures being taken. If there were any kind of emergency on Michigan Avenue right now people would die, burn, whatever. No help could reach them.
This unnerves me.

1200 high school kids walk out

600 other high school students walking out

400 middle school kids walk out.

150 stalled and blocking traffic on delano and van nyes

Walkouts ALL over LA County

LAPD Just alerted LA City hall to be prepared for a very large group.

Frankly, what they are protesting doesn't really make one bit of practical difference. Apparently, Congress is passing a "feel good" bill declaring it a felony to be here illegally.

In 99% of the cases of illegal aliens, some criminal law has been broken by the person--in most cases, entering the US without inspection. Really, nothing would be served by prosecuting most illegal aliens as criminals. If we don't currently enforce the laws, I don't see why we're going to start prosecuting them of a new offense.

In most cases, they shouldn't be prosecuted, they should merely be required to leave. And in most cases, I would even be in favor of allowing them to re-enter the country legally.

But what the advocates of illegal immigration are promoting is that we should have a large permanent underclass in this country. We'll pretend that they're illegal when it's convenient for our purposes, and we'll look the other way when it's convenient for our purposes.

They are doing a great disservice to these people by advocating that they should live here and work here with no hope of becoming legal.

My wife is a legal immigrant. My personal opinion was that this was the result of benign neglect on the part of these advocates. She's not so charitable. She believes that the liberal "pro-immigrant" groups actually want to preserve this permanent underclass, so as to provide a permanent constituency.

I can't say I disagree with her. It seems to have worked for Chavez in Venezuela--he stays in power because he makes sure a majority of his citizens remain in poverty. I guess it makes sense to have a permanent majority in poverty here as well, so that the "pro immigrant" groups can continue to use them for their purposes.

Im watching the live feed from LA and I am AMAZED that no news is covering this.. there are thousands of kids running at full speed all over the streets.. this might turn ugly VERY quick.. its remnding me of the LA riots.

I wondered about the Naitonal Guard being in Iraq so if they are then call up the Militia and let them do the job. I am sure they would help.

The morning news says that the catholic church is joining with the protestors
Because the new law will also make anyone who in any way aids illegles felons.
They are concerned their soup kitchens, and outreaches will be taken over by the goverment, locking up the volunteers as felons.
because they happen to feed a homeless that happens to be undocumented.

I know.. its NUTS.. the video feed is dark now but I saw it with my own eyes.. looked like about 200 kids walking down a residental street and they started tipping over those large plastic trash cans. I did see the cops follow behind them and they started picking them up.

I am amazed.. NOTHING on fox or cnn about this at all..

For ONCE WK - we are in complete agreement.


Of course - out here there is a large influx of illegals in the counties South of ours - I imagine if they started to go beserk out here like they are elsewhere - the locals will be taking 'care' of the problem themselves.

But then the Federalies would have to be called in to 'restore order'. I mean, you can't go having American citizens enforce the law and restore order, that's TERRORISM.

It's also RACIST according to them as well. Just look at the Minutemen.

If only more Americans had read and understood 'Unintended Consquences'.

I say Round up the school buses loak them all in and send them back over the border. Waiting here in Phoenix to see if any of the kids walk out. DD shcool is next to a full hispanic school wondering how she is doing and worried about her safety.
