Thanks Alan, Don't know how I've missed some of these. I will have to come
back later and review all of these. BTT

Yep, another vote for the sticky.

Based on the current sticky, "Consolidated must read threads", you would think that nothing worthwhile has been posted since 2002.

Many many thanks for this thread

I mentioned this place elsewhere today, and low and behold...a post with a great number of prep links.

Many thanks indeed!

A bump for the morning crew who may not have seen it when I first posted it yesterday afternoon and to add one more hurricane prep thread.

Thank you, Alan!! I was on vacation when most of these threads were coming up. I couldn't bookmark them, or print them, or download them.

Thanks to you, there are all here...nice and neat. I will be putting them on CD as well as printing them out.

We've been prepping for a long time, but we always learn more. Plus we have family members and friends who don't prep. Hopefully we can get a few of them to read some of this good information!

These should to be listed in it's own section so it will be easy to find when needed or for newbies.

Alan, what a great job, and service to us all. Add three cheers for LilRose.

Definitely pin it!!!!!

Is Deemy's thread on bug out bag heat mentioned in there? I love that thread.

Mods, please discuss pinning this thread. It is perhaps the best prep reference thread on Tb2k.

Diesel

First - this needs to stay on page one for a LONG time!\Second, can anyone help me with renovating diesel? I'm buying PRiD but is there a specific sequence and timing to bringing tie diesel back to life that i need to know about?

Thanks!

First, Thank you Alan for posting this, this needs to stay current and easy to find!

Second, for Kerosine, is there any stability treatment, like pri-g for gas and pri-d for diesel fuel, or is kerosine such a simple fuel that it will store long time without needing stabilizer added?

Also, how long can propane be expected to store? I have a number of the 1 pound camping cannisters (commercial), and a 20 pound tank, partly full, that has had fuel in it for a while. (the 20pound tank was my dad's, so it is several years old, now)

Here's another vote for tacking this one to the top permanently.

Kudos to you, Alan, for taking the time to compile all the requisite links for the entire series.\

This is the most comprehensive and complete collection of "how to prep" that I have ever seen. This would make a very excellent internet BOOK. Thank you for your time putting it all together.

Thank you A.T.H. for rounding these up in one area. There is the hurricane lessons learned thread that I was searching for the other day.

I appreciate having all of this info in one place. Thanks to all that put it together.

My problem I see is that:

There are multiple scenarios that require very different preparations and very different survival strategies.

To assume that you have all bases covered because you could ride out a Cat 5 hurricane or a Class 8 earthquake is excellent but not in my opinion adequate to assure the survival of you and yours.

The hurricane, earthquake and oil supply disruption even a limited nuke/terrorist attack generally share several commonalities:

1. they are mostly localized.
2. they are mostly of limited duration.
3. there are people with the capability and mandate to rescue those hit by the problem that can ride in from unaffected areas and begin a rescue and recovery program.

The USA has had and will continue to have many of these sever disruptions and they are likely to increase in severity due to global warming (whether GW is anthromorphic or not).

BUT to survive what I see as coming - which is the Collapse of western industrialized civilization will require an entirely different set of survival skills.

a brief list would include:

entrepreneurship
leadership and organization skills
relocalization of entire economy

To get to the end point of post collaspe stability will require that one or one's genes and ideals survive the transition during the collapse.

Survivng the transition will IMO take another different (third) set of skills than those needed to survive post collapse. It is fine to be self sufficient today while the majority of the USA is a functioning industrialized economy - but one needs to look beyond the present to see a time ahead where most of todays assumptions are no longer valid.

I agree that a PDF may be premature since we are adding new threads daily. Plus, anyone who wishes to add to an older thread can certainly do so. NEWBIES, we relish your contributions.
But having them on a sticky would be good.
I will PM Dennis and ask how this is done.

Thanks Alan and everyone for your support! And your contributions!

Lynnie, dennis put this in the must read consolidated threads list up on top of the front page threads......

But, if anyone wants to contribute or add on, just start a new thread and we can add it up there later.
