I went from watchful to a bit concerned because the $'s crashing down around our ears and nobody seems to be phased by it in the meat world. This, combined with the potential of either multiple or "the big one" terror event, and our econ will crash. We are ripe for the picking.

So yes, I'm a bit concerned. . .

I'm slightly elevated and checking stuff. No major reasons....Ukraine, new OBL/AQ tapes, oil concerns, PM flux, etc. Hard choice to go up from my usual "bit concerned". :shr:

I went back up to watchful, ready entirely because of the economic situation, especially locally. The company my husband works for recently announced that they had defaulted on a $60 million dollar debt. :shkr:

I think it's *always* prudent to be watchful, ready, and checking one's preps, whether there is any discernable or immediate threat or not. Life is capricious and it pays to be vigilant. JMHO. - Jesse.

BTW - I don't understand what the scores *mean.*????????? :shr:

Seems that being watchful is only logical, and preps are periodically checked and reviewed here anyway...

It's worth a refresher for everyone ...

First, the descriptions of "a bit concerned," "watchful, ready ...," "glued to the screen," etc. do not have to be taken as literally as some people think. They are trite characterizations of five notches on a scale. The scale attempts to measure on an ongoing basis the aggregate stress level at a given point AND in relation to other points in time that we have measured.

In other words, think of the scale in terms of being from 0 (no concerns) to 4 (totally freaked). Most of us remain somewhere between those extremes no matter what. Personally, I tend to fluctuate a bit between "a bit concerned" and "watchful ..."

Perhaps the clearest way to think of this scale is mathematically, and that gets us to what the scores mean. Again, "no concerns" is equal to zero. "A bit concerned" equals 1. "Watchful" is worth 2. "Glued" is 3. "Totally freaked" is 4.

When the poll results are in and the poll closes, we add up the scores and divide by the number of respondents. That gets us our average score. We have swung between 1.65 and 2.14 over the last six months. That represents a span between "concerned" and a bit more than "watchful."

Hope that helps.

It's still frightening out there. Economy is my big reason for staying prepped and watchful.

i'm always checking the preps, but i'm running along at threat level green right now.

that could change if the democrats keep up the hate speech much longer though.

Though I'm still watchful and alert--it's been a lifestyle since 1994--my level of future anxiety is lower than it has been in a long time--possibly years. I think the multitude of panics and threats that have not materialized (that some were so certain about) has caused me to put most of these "gut feelings" in better perspective. Although I'm not so foolish and naive as to assume that there is no danger from terrorism or economic collapse, I don't live in the red zone of worry each day for the shoe to drop to the floor.

That being the case, put me down as a 2.5

We have remained watchful on all of the polls and have not changed. That will not change unless there is something more concrete to make us worry more. It just makes sense to remain watchful and ready.

Personally, I went for being Watchful for since it is Christmas Time,
do NOT think much will happen until after Christmas and New Years.
Yes there is the Ukraine, the Dollar going down, etc. etc. Around the
election I was more worried it seemed. For me this was with
everything going on with the election and stuff combined with just
being back in town after all summer in the wilds. Our society more
and more is freaking me out it seems. But now am just watchful,
and checking the Preps. Don't think much will happen between
now and the Holidays (Xmas and New Years). But things could get
really interesting in January and February. After the Xmas buying
season and the slump that always happens at that time, with
the dollar going down, it could be really worse. Plus it being
mid winter and the cold, perfect time to trap the Sheeple.
Just my personal opinion and Creator Bless!

Well on the way to a record low anxiety reading at this point. And out of the first 62 polled, no one is "totally freaked and in the bunker!"

I always seem to pick the "Watchful" choice but for different reasons.
Last time I was uneasy about our water supply here at the chicken coop and I was watching terror threats.
This time I almost fainted when I realized that we had only one jar of peanutbutter in the house.....can you imagine? one jar??
This time I am a bit DOT conscious because of the government people resigning latelly. Over the past 2 months it seems like alot and then there's tom brokaw and wasn't there another news guy resigned recently? Yeah Dan Rather. What do they KNOW?

Of course there are the other dots that folks have noticed too.

Yeah I went out and got a case of peanutbutter just so I could sleep at night.

Terrorist attacks have never been my biggest concern. Right now the economy has me worried, but I've been worried about that for years. Just that now it finally seems to be doing what we've been watching out for all this time. I wish I knew how long it would take to hit bottom; some kind of time-line would help me prioritize the purchases and projects that still need to be done.

For the first time I voted ' a bit concerned'. Before, it was always 'watchfull'. I'm beginning to think that it could be another year or so before they hit us.....

Still watchful, but thinking about ramping up some of my preps. Economy on my mind as things are looking crummy in the part of the oilfield where my DS works. & from time to time I wonder how stable my pension people are, so everything is getting paid off. Will own our home clear (except for ins. and taxes, of course) in a year and a half. Got to do an inventory of everything else. If I would just be able to stop buying books, I would probably be in better shape.

I'm a bit concerned. I have done everything I can do for now, so there's no sense worrying - life's too short.

Seems to me that the entire world is going upside down. So am I worried? Of course. i don't want to see The Great Experiment die (aka: USA). But I fear with the attitude of most of the people I run into that time is running out.

It could be a nuke
It could be more wars breaking out
It could be the economy
It could be the anger/rage prevalent in the World today
It could be something in the food and/or water
It could be natural disasters
It could be space related

Or,

It could (and most likely will) be all of the above.

just my $0.02

I voted "Watchful," just as I have in every poll I've voted in so far. That's just the way I live. Numerically, tho, this poll has me more like a 1.5 or 1.75 than a 2. However, that might be because I am just more comfortable w/ our current position (my family, that is) than in times past.

I voted watchful but I have to admit my anxiety level is lower. I haven't been glued to
the board looking for the worse lately. Deep down inside I have a very antsy feeling
that when things get this quiet with all the smaller dots and the termoil that the
board has been going through the past few weeks that is when things usually
happen. However, I've had so much other crap in my life lately that I dont' have
time for the STHTF in the world. :) It's just going have to wait till other life matters
get straighten out. :)

JC Refuge...

Thank you!

I suppose I should clarify then. I am always "watchful" in life in general, but I am not at all anxious. I think next time I'd better vote "no concerns." Not that I don't think things can happen in life, I know they certainly do and we are living in particularly "interesting times." I just don't WORRY about it, I guess.

OTOH - As our liberties have been slowly eroded since 9-11, I do tend to make different choices these days than I used to. At the moment they are more of an inconvenience than anything else. - Jesse.
