The previous poll (just before the presidential election) set a new high-water mark, as expected. Will our results reflect a similarly opposite reaction this time?

Please post a brief explanation here (and links to current relevant threads) so that, in the future, we can go back and reference the issues that were on people's minds.

This is the eleventh poll in the series. Pete/ME should be posting a graph in this thread representing the previous poll results.

Only if the bit about the Pakistani ISI bomb coming here in time for the inauguration is true. Otherwise, since no pre-election attack, much calmed down.

FWIW, the early "exit polls" do suggest we could set a record low score here this time.

"For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction" ... this truism applies to things psychological as well as to physical forces.

This is odd... as I have felt the need to check out what preps we have. In fact, I have been organizing, and re-arranging items this morning. Now, I'll explain why. George is very tight with our little money as I am... if it's not an emergency, we don't spend. Well, this morning, he limped out of the store, gave me a strange look and said he had to go back for some ground beef. Really surprised me...
He said when he came back, folks were buying up so much meat this morning. Said one lady got 10 big packs of meat, and the Mexicans were grabbing meat like crazy. In fact, they had to grind some meat for us.
I have bagged the meat to where we can get 8 good meals out of the meat. I have been having the feeling that I should be ready for anything at any time. I have 3/4's of a deer George shot that I have soaking in ice water. I'm going to bag up the meat and freeze it til we get ready to smoke the meat. I might make sausage out of some of it, smoke the rest.
He's down in the woods hunting now. It may be a hard winter... the deer are very fat this year. I have taken the fat, will render it down, and use the fat for rubs for colds...
Everyone is preparing for a hard winter here.
Each time I read the news, I'm more and more convinced that we are headed for some very hard times in the near future.

Cautiously relaxed. Preps are normally checked over periodically, no change in that. Equipment the same.
I keep up with the news and the boards, and generally am just waiting, and going on with life as normal as possible in these times.

No value in overly worrying about things I cannot change.

It is precisely the minimal amount of 'chatter' that has me the most concerned. (People busy talking are rarely busy doing. Think about your children .... When they are noisy, you keep an ear on them, but keep working on whatever it is that you are working on at the time. BUT, when they get quiet, you KNOW something's up and go check on them.)

Most of the information we are receiving is the same few mind-numbingly repetitive crumbs. Sorta like bulk email spam -- everyone that gets a copy feels obligated to pass it on to everyone else they know.

The flip side is that what little information is getting out - is profoundly NOT good. Recent revelations about the possible use of wmd in the US, Arafat's death, increasing instability in NK, China engaging in more provocative actions, etc, etc, etc.

Add to that, the deeply divided attitudes of the American People -- a growing number of whom are suffering from what appears to be an irrational persecution complex that may well lead them into actions that will bring about their own self-fulfilling prophecy.

For these and related reasons, for the first time, I moved up to 'glued' on the last poll and I am still there. If I do not see clear and concrete evidence of positive resolutions to the issues I've mentioned (and those I haven't), I'll probably be ratcheting up my own personal level to 'bunker status' sooner rather than later.

Personally have been at #3 for most of the time, that is being watchful of
what is happening. But now am somewhere #4 or #5. I voted for #4 but
am somewhere between #4 and #5. And personally am preparing to
Bugout Permanently. I personally believe that we Two Leggeds are
choosing to take the path that will lead us to our destruction because
of the Greeds of the few that are in High Places that have the Control
and Power in our Two Legged Society. It is not just us here in the U.S.
but over the whole world it seems with War Mongering, Environmental
Destruction. It would be so good that we could take the path that
leads to Peace, Balance, and Harmony but that does not seem to be
the case. I guess we will have to have WWIII to realize our mistakes and
hopefully there will be something afterwards.

It just saddens me that how many here in the U.S. think that Abortion
and Gay marriage are our biggest problems and not the direction we are
heading in towards WWIII. Then there is the ever growing hatred between
the opposing forces in the Middle East and all over the world it seems as
if the Disharmony and Inbalance is ever growing. It seems as if so much
lately any Hope or Faith that we might take the better path has soooo
vanished like a Snowbank during the summer. Now my prayer is becoming
that just hoping and praying that something is left after our destruction
occurs. If you have faith for a better future then more power to you but
it has certainly now been vanquished from my heart.
Just my two cents worth. Creator Bless!

Still watching and waiting and topping off the preps.

As I try to round out the preps, I am noticing a decrease in available edible foods and a steep increase in the price and some shortages in the things I can eat.

I perceive us moving toward the season of plagues and famines. I cannot pinpoint exact future events that will bring these on, but they are happening soon and perhaps even happening now.

Since nothing happened prior to the election...I too am more relaxed. I voted a bit concerned.

It might be interesting in this poll this time to add if the poster is pro or anti Bush. I think we would see a pattern.

pro-Bush.

I was extremely worried about election violence. When the election passed and nothing happened, I felt a wave of relief. The stock market seems totaly unfazed by the election, the drop in the worth of the dollar, or oil prices. In fact it seems to have a life apart from current events. Very strange. I think as a nation we are all being manipulated to polarize against each other. Divide and conquer. Can we get anymore divided?A nation divided is a much easier target than a people united. Don't be manipulated by right or left fanatics screaming their outrage. We are all americans and love our country. Maybe not our government, but our country.....yes. May this Christmas season bring us some badly needed peace.

I am pro third party as I don't see a whit of difference between Bush or Kerry. The election barely registered on my doom alert.

Anti Bush. Anti Kerry. I just thought that if Kerry won the presidency and the congress stayed Republican there would be gridlock which was the best we could hope for. Preps in place. Just waiting to see what country Bush invades next. Anybody want to bet it has oil?

First of all am an Independant and am beholden to no party but I
seemingly always prefer the Third Party like the Libertarian Party.

Personally, also thought that if it was Kerry with the Presidency and the
Republicans with the House and Senate, this would make a more Balance
in the Government and so forth. But in the long run, it doesn't really
matter for how many of them that are both Republican or Democrat
are dedicated to the New World Corporate Order first. And who only
give lip service to the Constitution when it befits them. It is sad that
of how many are in the House of Representative, 500 and something,
that there is ONLY ONE I feel I can trust. This is Ron Paul for those that
are interested. How many of them who are either Republican or
Democrat are selling away our Constitutional Rights for a New World
Corporate Order pot of porage. So Sad! Now with all the branches
of the government being of one party, they can pass anything they
want which will NOT be to the People's benefit. Just watch and see.
They might say this and that in election time, but once in office - it is
ALL to the benefit of the New World Corporate Order.

But besides this - take a look thru out the world, it seems as us
Two Leggeds are increasingly bickering among ourselves, fighting
among ourselves on our petty differences, increasingly raping and
pillaging the Mother Earth for whatever on acoount of our materialistic
greeds. We could have a most excellent future. But it seems as if
the Greeds of the few that are in High Places wherever and by
whatever political party's name are manipulating everything that
those few can have how much more money while us Sheeple are
more and more just serfs for them that are in the High Places.

Where we are now in today's world and what is happening is so
very very obvious to me. If someone can't see this then that is what
befuddles me, how one can not or will not see what is happening.
Maybe it is because that I have spent so much time living in the wilds
and not in the cities. So do very much feel and sense that we are
taking the wrong road and we have very few days left till the
destruction that we have wrought comes back upon our own heads.
We shall reap what we have sown. Just my two cents worth.

Creator Bless!

We're entering winter, and I live on a hilly street. Anyone who has experienced local inefficiency in clearing streets needs to have some concern, and in my location especially so, as it may be physically impossible to take the car out for a week or so. Thus I vote for #3.

As far as the terrorist chatter, IMO they are just trying our nerves in the US while reserving their real targeting for the 100,000+ more readily available targets in Iraq ((and Afghanistan)). More body count, less effort needed.

I think the events of Monday ((the burner and the fencejumper at the White House)) merely proves there are still idiots out there who want to receive attention.

Sorry I'm late, but things have been a bit hectic around here... As promised, here is the chart. I did have to change the floor of the chart a bit due to our increased value around the elections. This makes it easier to see the changes over time.
