ESFP adrift in INTJ sea
I'm sitting in the middle this week....though I have short spurts of the next 2 doomerish positions....

It's interesting to note that neither RELIC nor I are willing to commit to airline tix for a trip we REALLY WANT to take, the weekend after Elections....It seems that we BOTH have trepidatious feelings about the period from now thru elections.....
BOTH of us haivng these feelings is relatively unusual as I am usually the Shrinking Doomer and she the pragmatic one.

Don't know if it's wise, but my level of watchfulness is lower than it's been in a couple of years. We're still prepped and ready but I'm not glued to the news and the chatter like I have been.

I'm watching St Helens with some interest, but only because I'm within a fairly heavy fallout area should she have a big blowup, otherwise I'm just a bit concerned...

Don't worry Nerdling.

You hang out on this board long enough you'll find plenty to worry about.

A few of them will even have some basis in reality.

My concerns about terrorism events have diminished and maybe that is not smart. On the other hand, four hurricanes on the east coast, the economy and fuel situation keep me feeling that we need to be prepared for almost anything. A sense of "when, not if". Now let's all forget about doom and go out and support the economy this weekend! :D County fair for us! Texian

I have to confess that I've never seen terrorism as such as much of a threat to most of us. Right now, though, I don't like what I see and hear from Russia. I also don't like some economic indicators, and Peak Oil is going to make both situations worsen quickly, IMO.

Ah, we are all frogs dropped in a pot of water, nice and warm, but getting a bit warmer, and we do not notice it much.

Natural events are concerning, as well as the economy, the approach of the election and the possible aftermath, the price of gasoline. I feel like we are skating on thin ice and am rather insecure. Not a good feeling.

Interesting that - given all the stuff said about terror before the election (or at least inauguration day), the mode is kinda calm, relatively speaking.

Well lets see here. If I just take a look at this site I see:

the NWO is going to take over here in the US
Iran is about to have a civil war
reservists arent reporting for duty
immigration is terrible. im a minority now in Texas as are anglos in Colorado
AlQuada is about to attack the US and Japan
Beijing is about to attack Taiwan
next month Isrial and Iran will be at war
there is a terriorist allert in the tri-state area
mt St Helens errupted today
we just had the largest earthquake in Ca history
there is evidently a killer hamster on the loose
and worst of all, this morning the board was down.

we should all be absolutely scared to death.
But, it's just the way the world is today, I guess.

So as always, I'm being aware of my surroundings.

In the past polls I've always voted in the middle. But this time had to vote for "Glued to the screen, expecting the worst at any time."

My concern is not so much terrorism at this point in time as it is earthquakes. I live in southern California, and yesterday a seismologist stated that with the number and size of the aftershocks from the Parkfield 6.0 earthquake, we might be looking at a larger event southward. Thus, I'm watching earthquake activity on the USGS board frequently.

I've not voted in any of the previous polls but now I'm with Mrs. Peavey, glued to the screen.

I've been eating constantly for several days (very unusual for me), stocking up again (more than usual) and checking the news constantly, most especially for earthquakes and Mt St Helens.

I'm worried that St Helens will trigger something somewhere else, the swarm at Qualeys and then the large ones at Parkfield and Bakersfield seem to point to something (????).

I'm waiting to see what Russia is going to do, I'm concerned about the tremendous amount of money and effort devoted to changing public opinion as regards President Bush and the Republicans (if you just had TV news and popular publications available for news you'd think the Republicans and President Bush were vying for position as the antichrist).

Voted for "watchful, ready, and checking the preps, just in case." This option selected for several reasons: The time of year in relation to the elections, multiple sources of information (both online and off), which are cause for concern, and just simply the feeling in the air (yep - nothing scientific about that one).

I voted watchful and ready. It seems that we all have stopped being overally cautious. All the threats and no action has contributed to this factor. I wonder if that is what they wanted to happen? If our guard is down and there is another attack there would be more of an emotional impact.

It just seems like we have waited and watched for such a long time. Some who were worried after 9/11 did prepare. Now the same people have just tossed all their preps to the side. They compare us who do worry and prepare to chicken little. We also have democrats screaming that Bush is using this as a political tool and it isn't as bad as what it is made out to be. So, even more people have quit worrying.

I guess this is what they have waited for-perfect timing. We are too wrapped up with everything else that is going on.(Just an opinion)

I've been alternating between watchful and glued. Right now I'm at watchful. Bunker and 'no worries' are out of the question.....

I am the Winter Warrior
Since I am always watchful; I actually have no level below that one. I *do* have several levels above it though. :D I would have to say that, right now, I'm somewhere between 'watchful' and 'glued'. It is the only level to be on, what with bad hurricanes and erupting volcanos and earthquakes ever where.

Right in the middle - watchful. That's where I've been on each of these "stress level" polls. The level was briefly up a bit as each of the last 3 hurricanes were headed this way (and I managed to be in the path of 3 of the 4), but that's about it. I don't get too worked up about what the media says is the news. I have a high level of skepticism about the "official news" anyway. Stay prepared in a general way, and then don't worry about it. There's nothing you can do about it anyway beyond the basic preps (and salvation through Jesus so you're in good shape if those preps fail you).

Relax and enjoy today. THESE are the "good old days" of tomorrow. That's the value of being prepared - you don't have to worry about stuff. Whatever happens, you can handle it.

I actually dropped a notch to a bit concerned. I am prepped, gonna take off for 2 weeks in china and forget my worries....hope the country is still here when I get back. ;)

Here's the chart... sorry I'm a little late, but a big weekend at work... BTW, I changed the data labels on the bars to read vertically... it was getting a bit cramped in the horizontal orientation.

I'm watchful and ready, too. Unfortunately, I'm also really busy with fall harvesting and getting the yard and garage and house ready for winter. So, I watch and work.

I need to spend more time in prayer, and not the prayer time I've been having (which is while I'm working). Though that works, too. I need more time with "prayer on my knees."

Sammy (who is feeling like something is going to happen soon and there's nothing we can do about it or no way to be really prepared for it.)

I think most of the folks in Florida have checked and rechecked their preps for the last month and a half or so and we're about wore out with it.

Still, we gave out fifty one CERT applications today so maybe we've got a lot of former DGI's who are suddenly getting it. If we can get an even dozen actually go through the course and show up once in while maybe all these storms will have paid off in some small way.

.....Alan.

Sleep? What is that?
I'd have to echo Sammy55 and Stephen. I too feel that prayer is the most important prep and I find it hard to do when i am distracted with news...

I think there is a real talent if you can pray while under pressure!

However, I also believe that the vocation is a prayer in itself, so if you are working so much that prayer time has to be shorter, that is still good, just offer the work itself as a prayer. Noah didn't build the ark on his knees. ;)

---outnumbered 10 " Watchful and ready and will check preps when kids stop spiking fevers and throwing up... :scn:

Thanks, outnumbered10! Here, I am always feeling badly that I don't do enough praying and only praying. I'm just too busy!! But I pray when I'm doing housework, or working in the garden, or driving, or busy at work.

You made me feel better. I liked that about Noah, too!

I do have to concentrate more time on my Bible reading and prayer time, though.

As far as preps go...my kids think my DH and I are nuts, but we'll see who they run to when TSHTF!! I'm just scared about the debt we have, though. I wish we were debt-free. I wish we could retire!! :)

I voted in the middle again, but concern has sort of ramped up somewhat. I don't know if it's something I was reading about the economy, gas going up again or just that winter is practically here and there is still lots to do before it actually hits. Your guess is as good as mine.

I can't say glued to a screen yet - I am calm, because I am as ready as I can afford to be at the moment for whatever may come. I am concerned enough that I cancelled a big trip I was looking forward to in a big city in California.

My instincts tell me to stick close to home. So I am doing so.
