I'm OK because I can make water out of thin air and one trip to the junk yard I have 40 wind mills. Aside from that, my solar system, years food supply, water filters, KI, Doxy, 100k rounds, 100lbs seeds, 10lbs fishing hooks, gas masks, 12 forms of communication, (and more) gives me a warm fuzzy feeling inside....

My only concern is traveling from the Adironcacks to Albany 3 times a week to my welding job, and to Kingston 3 times a week to work on a shelter I am building. Once and a while I stay at my brothers house to cut travel time and he doesn't have so many preps.

Something tells me my 2 bug out bags will be my best friend some day. One thing for sure, it will be one heck of a field trip from Kingston to the Adirondacks on foot.

Prepped to the max ......BUT .......Somehow I feel the public is being taken for a ride.

Too many "the shy is falling" & nothing happens.

Somebody is blowing a lot of smoke.

If I let my guard down, that's when it will happen.

If I keep my guard up, it will still happen but I won't be supprised.

Stay ready. :usfl:

After going through the various levels of prep stress, I've moved passed the "bring it on" phase. Now, I'm worried about what my MREs will taste like in few more months. Kinda sad, really . . .

I voted "no worries" because there really wasn't another choice. Heck, I commute into DC every day. Nevertheless, somethings coming down the road and I'm not sure what. Picking the particular concern is too stressful. I do, however, have the utmost faith in devine providence. So, no worries.

Tropical Storm Warning

Elevated one notch to 'watchful and checking' due to the tropical storm warning for the state I'm in. (first one for the season to boot). Hurricane season always causes the personal level to increase a notch or two.

suggestion - for posterity's sake, should we list the 'events' happening in the world when the polls are taken? for example, the ridge warning today?

I've gone through the roller coaster so many times. I've done all the prepping I reasonably can and had decided to just relax and enjoy one day at a time and not let worry spoil my life.

But my anxiety level has racheted way up lately. I am very uneasy about the upcoming election. There is so much acrimony and outright hatred involved. It seems to me like the pot has been simmering for ages and is due to boil over at any moment.

I guess I am just an incorrigible doomer!

My Doomer prediction is that terrorists will detonate bombs during the month of August in NYC and/or DC. :shkr: :shkr: :shkr:

Of course, all my previous predictions have been wrong, so I have absolutely NO credibility.

Exactly, kpaul ... the hope is that those who are feeling significant stress would comment with a post about what exactly is driving the anxiety for them ... for purposes of later reference.

Hmmm....I, too, voted before I heard the news about the alert levels being raised. I was already torn between "watchful, ready, and checking the preps, just in case" and "glued to the screen, expecting the worst any day now" but went with watchful. Now I may be just a bit more glued. ;) I really don't expect anything until possibly the Republican convention though. There was no reason for them to attack the DNC.

...priceless...

Here's my thoughts on today's news...

- Citigroup buildings and the New York Stock Exchange in New York City, The International Monetary Fund and the World Bank buildings in Washington, and Prudential financial in northern New Jersey are all NAMED as "specific" targets ... all on the east coast...

total value of business, buildings, people, economy - $trillion$ of buck$...

- Details from bad guy sources, never before released to the public in advance of threats like this, such as "included in the intelligence, the official cited these examples: midweek pedestrian traffic of 14 people per minute on each side of the street for a total of 28 people; that some explosives might not be hot enough to melt steel; and that the construction of some buildings might prevent them from falling down."

total value of Information Technology used to grab these details and forward them to those that would save us..... - $billion$ of buck$...

- The fact that the feds are suspecting a car or truck bomb to be used in these "certain attempts" on the above mentioned targets, yet state "The 59-story Citigroup Center building is the third largest in midtown Manhattan," and they don't mention "plane bombs", just like the ones used on 9/11...

total value of NOT mentioning this in the media reports, but giving all the rest of the details... - (-)$5.00

- The fact that my family and I live in the middle of the Wyoming desert, surrounding by scrub brush, wildlife, and blue skies...because we "expect" the bad guys to keep trying on those same kinds of large cities...

total value of thinking way ahead of the curve, and moving out of the big city even BEFORE 9/11... - PRICELESS

Well, it's evening and I've voted on each of the other polls. Still, I voted "a bit more concerned". It's just "another" terror warning. Not to discount them, but when something happens, then I will FREAK out (for a few minutes any way). I know there may be a good chance that something will happen between now and the elections, but we've said that so many times for so many "good" reasons.

Guess I've finally found that balance.

Oh, I get the option of retracting that "balanced feeling statement" when something happens!

Still only a bit concerned.

Been working outside all day in the heat so I'm too tired to care if Al Queda nukes D.C. or New York. So long as they're not crossing my property line it can wait till tomorrow!

I also made the mistake of voting prior to reading todays news re the alert bump. I was torn between watchful and glued and went with watchful... I think I'll be glued though...

JC, I have already updated the spreadsheet and chart and we are currently at 1.80 at the time of this post. I'll post the chart later in the week. Same style as the current, only one more bar.

LOL! Jc, I think "Doom Level" is kinda off-the-mark. Better label for the graph (IMO) would be "Anxiety Level". And that would be fascinating ONGOING research...

Agreed, Dennis ...

Pete, could you please change the graphic headline for the next iteration? Thanks!

Consider it done. I take it that Dennis' suggestion of TB2K Anxiety Level is what we want. If you'd like anything different, let me know.

Anxiety is just what I feel. No rhyme or reason for it really........nothing in the news is significantly different than in the recent past..........just a "feeling", I guess. Pure anxiety!

I check this board over and over every day to see if what I feel has been somehow realized. My family has always said I'm a bit on the "goofy" side, so just chalk it up to Goofiness.

Still...................................(I see I'm in the majority vote on this one, so others are feeling anxious also).....

the scale is 1 to 5 based upon the poll options, where 1 = "no worries"?
FYI, the formula for how to calculate these poll averages is in the first poll thread (see link in the first post of this thread).

To your question, DJ, the values assigned to the responses run from 0 to 4 ... "no worries" being 0.

Once again, between watchful and glued--unless, by 'glued to the screen' you mean glued to TB2K! I HAVE to pop up here at least once every 24 hrs to see what's going on out there. I haven't mentioned how thankful I am that this forum is here--thanks Dennis and also to mighty author of Rise and Fall of the American programmer, etc. Many Dots have been appearing in the last 30 days(thanks to all who have posted in the BS), that lead me toward glued...
