I am %83 likely to survive a depression according to their estimates. I think my main problem is living in a suburb. That is a debatable one and every area would be judged differently in my opinion.
The area we are in could be in serious peril if racial problems occured but otherwise I think our neighbors would pull together and their are some very proficient people here: horticulturalists, construction, doctors, pharmasists, lpn nurse, other type nurses, dental hygenist, electricians, plumbers. We have a very diverse group of neighbors. Teachers, ex military, eye doctors(2),several cops-city,state,county, including detectives. Our next door neighbor's mother and father have a farm with about thirty beef cattle and about fifty laying hens. Another guy we know has a farm nearby with about sixty or eighty beef cows. We are electrical contractors and have most any power tool that anyone could need in a shtf situation. We have several people with tractors in our area with all attatchments needed for farming. A welder with a shop out back,a mechanic/race car buff,a fresh water spring in the woods less than 100 yards from our front door, several people (including us) with gardens, yards big enough for large gardens, all the stores we would need like walmart, lowes, home depot, several groceries, hardware, auto parts, mechanics shops, tractor supply, and many more things that could be of help in hard times. Of course if things got real bad then no stores would be open, but I think we would still be in pretty good shape but only if no major racial problems occur. If racial problems occur then we are toast if they come our way. Way to many in our area to overcome without some serious confrontation.
Looking at what I have just said we have it a lot better than I realy thought we might, but again only if people pull together; and that is a big if. Things could definantly go the other way.
Aso I have no gold or silver and many here think that will be a nessasary item but I will most likely not trade anything I can use or eat for something that is of value in a monitary sence only. I think a millionaire who wants to save his fortune from evaporating would want to stash gold and silver to ensure still having wealth if and when things got back to normal, but for me it would not be that important unless I had the extra to invest. Preps would be my main concern and then barter and trade would hopfuly get me the things needed. Don't think I would trade for gold unless it was very obvious that people were trading for it and things I needed were attainable with it.
