I give up.
This isn't nearly the worst thing I've read in the past couple of days either. I had to get off the news for a while, but unfortunately I just saw this:

#BREAKING: Man charged with murder after allegedly stabbing 15-year-old sister to death in Dunwoody. https://www.ajc.com/news/crime--law...year-old-sister-death/VrdHVrD1mlN9UU4QHv6StM/

June 19, 2018

Dunwoody police say they don’t know what drove a 27-year-old man to beat and stab his 15-year-old sister to death outside their apartment Monday afternoon.

Gavin Denzell Henderson was arrested on charges of felony murder, aggravated assault with the intent to murder and cruelty to children in the first degree in the death of his sister, Keaira Henderson, after he called police to turn himself in.

A neighbor called 911 to report someone was beating the girl in front of the Lacota Apartments in the 6600 block of Peachtree Industrial around 3:20 p.m. Monday, Dunwoody police Sgt. Robert Parsons said.

The caller said the man and the girl were in a heated argument and the teen went door to door looking for someone to help her, Channel 2 Action News reported.

Officers responded just minutes after the call, but Keaira Henderson was dead in the breezeway by the time they got there. She was stabbed multiple times, according to police.

Her older brother was arrested a short time later outside a discount store on in the 6800 Peachtree Industrial Boulevard.

The manager of the store told Channel 2 the called police at Gavin Henderson’s request, after he walked into the store carrying a knife and covered in blood. Police believe the knife was the murder weapon.

“He just told me, ‘Can you call the cops?’ I said, ‘Why?’ He said, ‘There’s been an accident,’” Shehab Faisal said. “He’s showing me blood on his hands and his T-shirt.”

When police arrived just after 3:30 p.m., Faisal said Henderson walked out of the store and surrendered. Henderson was taken into custody without incident and the knife was recovered, according to police.

“The motive for this attack is still under investigation,” Parsons said.

No further details are expected to be released as the DeKalb County District Attorney’s Office is preparing for prosecution.

I give up.
I only saw one picture of possibly the sister, and she was a cute little thing. But it didn't say where the photo was from so I don't feel comfortable posting it. Too sad.

C'mon folks, it was the knife! Knives are so out of control in London they are considering breaking the points off them. And now it has come here. We need a knife control program right now. Call your Congressman before we are overwhelmed.

To be honest, I never really understood why knives have a point at the end. If I'm cutting something, I cut ALONG it. I don't stab at it. And Lord knows I've nearly skewered my foot more times than I can count when a knife dropped off the counter. Seriously; this isn't meant as sarcasm.

You don't need any point on a knife to stab and kill someone anyway.

Just shove it in. Flesh is weak.

Well, I just spent 20 minutes slicing a bunch of vanilla beans lengthwise to split them before putting them in a jar of vodka to make more pure extract. Couldn't have done it without a sharp point on the knife. But *in general*, you're right... most knife work involves slicing with the blade edge.

No, and even that one has a pointy end. I’ve never really thought much about knives, in all actuality. I’m kinda thinking the pointy tip is a relic of “back in the day” when they were weapons. (Mind you, I’m talking only about kitchen knives here.) If I need exact control over cutting, use a scalpel (I prefer #15 blades) on the 3” flat handle. I can do very exacting work with that.

Back in the day, most folks - if they could afford a knife - only had one. It had to do everything, tool wise and weapon wise.

In the Stone Age, blades were usually used for just cutting and scraping. They were struck off a flint or chert 'core' and used till they dulled, then tossed or re-purposed as a borer or the like.

I have a set of knives in a wooden block that sits on my kitchen counter. All kinds of knives. My son says he bugged me to buy it at Wegmans many years ago when he was a little kid. i don't remember. I hardly ever use those knives though. We are especially scared of the fillet knife. I'm serious.

I have 4 of these knives and they are great for cutting pork ribs. Mine all have a fork at the end, great for stabbing the racks of pork and placing them on the barbecue.

Would *I* Lie???
IF I remember right, meat cleavers, perfectly legal under the "No point" law, are one of the leading offenders in UK along with machetes.. many of which are flat or round-ended.

Personally I think I prefere a couple clean-through the broiler room, than some uneducated monkey with no apparent understanding of anatomy hacking away at me wildly with a meat cleaver.. I mean, all other things considered.

Stabbing is a far more effective way to kill someone with a knife than slashing.

Slashing can be a useful defensive technique, IF you know what to cut - see http://martialbladeconcepts.com/ for one example, there are other approaches as well. But 'the other guy' may be better at it than you are, keep that in mind.

Most women I know use a knife to open cans or jars and the tips get destroyed anyway. Not too many knives in my house with tips except for my pocket and hunting knives.

For gutting and processing animals... got to have pointy knives. Granted a small 2" pointy sharp blade will work, but in many operations a point is needed. Like to see one fillet a fish with a heavy butcher blunt type knife.
