Democratic presidential candidate Martin O'Malley may not be doing well in the polls, but he's putting in a concerted effort to make his voice heard on gun violence in the wake of the recent Charleston massacres.

"A single American life is worth more than all the guns in the United States," O'Malley said while giving a speech at the U.S. Conference of Mayors in San Francisco. "How many senseless acts of violence do we have to endure as a people before we stand up to the congressional lobbyists of the National Rifle Association? How many more Americans have to die?"

While governor of Maryland, O'Malley instituted laws banning assault weapons and high capacity gun magazines that "exist only to inflict human casualty." He also implemented strict licensing rules cracking down on the gun-permitting process, to ensure maximum safety. Because of his actions, the National Rifle Association gave O'Malley an "F rating."

O'Malley recently told supporters that his legislation passed in Maryland is just his first step for his plan for the nation. If elected, he said he wants to enforce a national assault weapons ban, stricter background checks and increase efforts to reduce straw-buying of guns.

This coming from the SOB who was surrounded by armed State Police when Governor of Maryland and probably has armed security now that he is running for POTUS. Just his attempt to garner more support for his run. Not sure why he can't protect himself with his guitar and biceps. Ignorant b*s$%#d.

well, that's odd. most of our ancestors were willing to sacrifice their lives using guns to try to win or keep their/our freedoms, - a process impossible to attempt without guns.

guns don't kill people. only marxist and drug-addled scumbags (did i just repeat myself?) kill people.

It doesnt matter. We all knew the fight was coming, the only thing was when, so now, later, what difference does it make only that it is coming and to be ready to make the most of it and make them bleed, heavily.

They have ramped up gun confiscation big time. It is obvious O plans to do it before he leaves office. May be that Jade Helm is about that. Whatever they have planned the stupid sheeple are falling for it. I can't even be friends with anyone who believes in taking guns. That is where I draw the line!! We give them up, we are toast! How will we protect ourselves then? We will never get them back, that's for sure!

there has never been a single century of human history where pirates/bandits/highwaymen/muggers have ever killed even a minute fraction of innocent people that tyrannical criminal governments have

even more markedly so after the invention of firearms

its not even the same league

I'm sure it will make him warm and fuzzy if the criminals stab people to death or bludgeon them with a club instead of shooting them. If if you could get rid of firearms it wouldn't solve the problem. The spirit of murder is in the human heart and not in a mechanical device. All you do with banning certain firearms is prohibit law abiding citizens from protecting themselves because we know that criminals go to the nearest police station to turn in their illegal guns when a new law is passed...right? That is the level of critical thinking skills that our politicians have today. Empty headed idiot trying to make a name for himself off the tragedy of others.

You beat me to it. This was precisely what I was going to post. While we're at it, ban stairs, ladders, tall buildings, cliffs, bridges, knives, rocks, scissors, and any other potentially fatal substance,location or device. Ban anything that can cause injury or death.
