CHAT What are the more business friendly states and US holdings?

I may be acquiring an established business, but the business climate in WA state is appalling, with the morons in Olympia driving ever more businesses away with their constant money grubbing and no end in sight.

So. I'm thinking about closing the business here, and reopening it in perhaps, Idaho. I'm looking at a Delaware agent arrangement, as well as doing business based in the Virgin Islands, but distribution here stateside. It's painfully obvious that WA state is being cannibalized and I need to move if I'm to run this business.

I know there are many, many people here with the expertise I need to make a more informed decision, the entire survival of this business hinges on a move to a more business friendly locale, even though the product is not likely to be produced or distributed there.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Check Wyoming...I have heard a lot of good things about it. Of coarse there is not much there yet. At least not like the east or West Coast.

South Carolina can be at times but it is slowly falling into regulation hell.....

First you need to find out who your customers are and where they live. Moving will only do so much, you need a client base. Most of the problems for small businesses are from the feds so you will only get so much relief in a move. Now look at the specific regulations for your business by state. Example: as problematic as Florida can be about real estate connected businesses it is still easier to have such a business here than say a New York. You need to find a state that is friendly to your particular kind of business that will also have a customer base for you to work with.

Actually the business customers would remain where they are. The business is literally mobile, and can be run from any place that has internet, it was run entirely from Texas last year, yet the delivery and production (hired out) was from my area. I'm looking for a tax shelter, WA state is like kalifornia and ny, corrupt to the core, run by a single county on the coast, comprised of hard core communists, hostile to businesses to the point they are leaving in droves, so they're ratcheting up the taxes to make up for lost revenue. They said on the radio last week that the state had a "closed door meeting" (illegal) on how to pick the bones of the remaining businesses to get the $1.2 billion they overspent. Boss told me they just raised the business taxes $5.3 billion on small business owners a short time ago. When I was in business 13 years ago it was nearly impossible to keep my head above water due to excessive regulation and taxation.

A few years back Idaho Governor Butch Otter gave a speech in Spokane, and the rotten business climate in WA came up, he invited everyone to Idaho, saying they LOVE business people and treat them right. The next day WA governor gregoire was on tv demanding that Otter meet with her so she could straighten him out. HAHAHA, hope she held her breath.

Anyway, thanks all for your input, I'll check out New Mexico and the web site you provided m.anderson, thanks!

Idaho is great Flipper!

I've been working balls to the walls, non-stop, straight since last March with no room to hardly breathe (or correspond, I'll PM you when I can Flipper, I haven't forgotten you!) during the day and I don't want all my time spent taking care of the Free Shit Army which is fostered here in Wa. state.

And yeah, I remember when the gov. of Idaho made that speech in Spokane. I thought it showed Gregoire who had more power than she.

Imagine the nerve of her demanding that Butch come to her with tail between the legs to straighten him out. I mean, Really Now!!!

And all the while Gregoire and her whole gaggle of acolytes (assistants) were going to and fro to DC sitting their liberal asses in First Class!

My husband's best bud who made millions in his business and paid huge taxes on B & O (business and operating tax) out the ass here in King County was coming back from DC and was sitting up there as his usual, with Gregoire and her "Kool Aids", was so disgusted by what he saw and the total waste of our hard earned tax dollars taken from the sweat off our backs that he didn't ask her a question, he told her straight out and very loud, "How dare you and you little assistants take up almost all of First Class with MY TAX DOLLARS!!! You even hiked up my property tax three times in the last 5 years! You all should be sitting back in row 38 where you belong!"

Nice rant Billy! He moved his whole company out of state after that and I think he went to Idaho if I remember hearing right. V

Wow, Vessie, great story! Billy's probably on a list now. HAHA. Gregoire is pure evil, funny how dames like feinstein and gregoire begin to display their dissipation and corruption right on their face. Pelosi tried hiding it with a face lift, putting her belly button where her mouth use to be, but it still shows.

This one's for Billy!

And this one's for gregoire, inslee and others of their ilk.

Hahahaha...

Thanks Flipper!

Our social group is much like Green Acres and we call Billy, 'Mr. Haney'!

Actually Pelosi's face lift went a bit higher, her belly button is way up in her hair line! It's the other orifice that is her mouth now! :D V

Florida has problems with property taxes and insurance but we have no state income tax and medical insurance is comparatively low to other states too ... tells you why we get a lot of retirees in this state.
