Some of the warmest weather of the year arrived in Alaska over the weekend and will continue through the first part of the week. The heat is also raising the risk of wildfires.

Folks heading to The Last Frontier should be prepared for hot weather and possibly smoky conditions.

Heat challenged records in Fairbanks and Anchorage, Alaska's two most populated cities, over the weekend. The high in Fairbanks on Sunday reached 88 degrees, falling just a degree shy of their daily record.

Are you serious??? That better make its way eastward. Here in Northern MI we got up to a high of 59 today. I've got my heat on right now. No sign of summer yet in these parts!

While less than a month ago they were dealing with one of the latest springs ever ... like 119 years ever.

Still pretty chilly here in Maine also. Been in the 60's and low 40's at night. I still have the plastic up on most of my raised beds. Only things growing well are the cool loving plants. Tomatoes and peppers are just sort of in limbo so far. It's 60 out there right now and a high of "maybe" 70 today.....woo hoo.........

Well at least it hasn't rained yet today.

This is one of the coldest/rainiest springs since we moved up here. We need some sunshine for the plants to grow. Too darned cold.

Wise Owl IIRC we had a year maybe 10 back where we had no real summer either, just chilly and damp till winter. Maybe it was a preview? We haven't been to the lake yet this year and frankly all this rain has my grass competing with the weeds trying to block out the trees!! I'm waiting for that gray mould stuff you get on lilacs to move across the lawn...it's that wet here.

Here in E WA it will be 50's for the rest of the week, we need rain and this cool front is supposed to give us some :).
