I need some suggestions on where I can find a site or a good book to help me with legal jargon. Translation into everyday English is what I am after.

Thank you!

Okay... if you are reading a contract and it starts off like this--- "the party of the first part (meaning yourself), hearby referred to as "scum-bag"... then you know you are in trouble.

I would find a "paralegal" and have them help you wade though it all.

Funny!

No, I just have something from my son and I would like to read it and make sense of it. His case and he is just keeping his mama informed. Unfortunately, his mama finds that it is all Greek to her.

Hello, Wiscontessa.

Black's Law Dictionary is the resource nearly every lawyer uses. Currently in it's 9th edition, it can be a bit pricey (@ $130.00). See http://www.blackslawdictionary.com/Home/Default.aspx for the latest edition.

You can find an earlier edition on line for free at http://thelawdictionary.org/ . It is only the 2nd edition, but may answer your questions in enough detail or at least get you started.

I am not an attorney (nor have I ever played one on TV!) and this should not be construed as legal advise, but 16 years of helping out in my husband's office taught me a thing or two!

Thanks everyone!! I found something on-line and a member has pm'd me with some very good information that I can use. I'll also check out my library for that law book if nothing else.
