This question came up on another website... "why is there no blood on this guy's clothes and only on his hands? Don't you think he would be a splattered mess after hacking on a body and decapitating it?" Hmmmmm.... another false flag with actors?

I've field-dressed elk, deer, steer, and buffalo; once the heart stops beating blood pressure drops to nothing and the only parts that typically get bloody are what come in direct contact with the corpse.

Besides, he's wearing dark clothing, and he could be drenched in blood for all you'd be able to see against it.

I see blood on his sleeve and pocket, at least.

Oh, and what's that wet-looking spot in the middle of his chest?

here is the link to a blog out of the UK that generates lots of questions about this event.
http://www.worldblogofblogs.blogspot.co.uk/

must go to the link to see the pictures and details.
short snippet from the blog:

London Calling - Fake Terror Comes to London Town

The MSM reports another 'Terror' attack. This time a beheading in London.
But what is the truth of this incident? What does a critical observer see?

Where is the blood on this man's light colored jacket?
We are informed by the BBC that he and the other man were hacking at the victim for minutes on end in a visceral bloodbath. A large pool of blood can be seen in photographs taken looking down at the scene from above.
Other reports clearly state that the victim was beheaded.
Both of the attackers should be covered in blood - not just their hands.

Note the inconsistency between blood drenched hands and upper jacket.
Even his face ought to be visibly blood splattered for this to make sense.
Instead his face is clean, his trousers and jacket are both clean.

Here is a link to a youtube video where the guy has clean hands!

Every single time something bad happens, immediately a conspiracy pops up.

That too is disinfo. The point is: Is this young soldier dead? Did they do it?

The answers are obvious.

IMO, they need to be publicly hung from an immense gallows.

Alas, that was the Britain of old, which not coincidentally was at a time when Britain was the #1 arse-kicker in the world. Not so now. Britain hasn't executed anyone since 1964. Like the US, the political class running the UK, whether Labour, Liberal Democrat, or Conservative is the real impediment. However, there is hope;

Also in August 2011, a representative survey conducted by Angus Reid Public Opinion showed that 65% of Britons support reinstating the death penalty for murder in Great Britain, while 28% oppose this course of action. Men and respondents aged over 35 are more likely to endorse the change.

In 2013, an ongoing case of a man who murdered two unarmed female police officers in the UK after luring them to a house, rekindled the debate about whether capital punishment should be reintroduced. Public opinion suggests that for multiple murder, treason or other "crimes against the people" such as intentional food contamination resulting in death should warrant capital punishment."

Copycat warnings after Drummer Lee Rigby's death in Woolwich

From: AAP
May 24, 2013 4:32AM

SECURITY experts are warning of copycat attacks, following extensive media coverage of the brutal murder of a British soldier in suburban London.

Drummer Lee Rigby, 25, was hacked to death in a knife attack on Wednesday just yards from the Royal Artillery Barracks in Woolwich.

The two suspects in the killing were shot and wounded by police and are now in hospitals under armed guard.

Two other people - a 29-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman - have been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder.

Rigby, who had a two-year-old son, had last been deployed to Afghanistan in 2009.

Soldiers have long been seen as targets by Islamic extremists.

In Australia, three men were jailed in late 2011 over a terror plot to kill soldiers at the Holsworthy Army Base in Sydney.

"It's not the first time there has been a plot to go specifically after soldiers, but obviously this is the first successful one from an al-Qaeda-inspired point of view," terrorism expert Andrew Silke, from the University of East London, said of Wednesday's attack.

"A lot of the terrorists very much see themselves as soldiers fighting a war."

Last month, three British men were jailed for planning terror attacks at a town which for years was the first to receive soldiers killed in Afghanistan.

Another pair were jailed the same month over an al-Qaida-inspired plot to send a remote-controlled toy car into an army reservist centre.

And in 2008, another man, Parviz Khan, was jailed for life for plotting to kidnap and kill a British Muslim soldier. He admitted he intended to film his beheading.

Professor Silke says so-called lone wolf attacks using simple methods have become more common as al-Qaida is weakened.

And he warns there could be more to come.

"We know from research whenever a terrorist attack gets an awful lot of media attention it leads to copycats and we get a lot of other groups being inspired by it saying 'Why don't we do something similar'," the academic said.

The University of Reading's Dr Christina Hellmich agrees "individualised jihad" is likely the kind of attack we will see in the future.

Defence analyst Matthew Henman argues the suspects' failure to flee on Wednesday and their politically-fuelled rants afterwards, suggest "an effort to maximise publicity".

News outlets have named one of the attackers as 28-year-old Michael Adeboloja, a British citizen of Nigerian descent, who was reportedly raised a Christian but became interested in Islam as a teenager.

British Prime Minister David Cameron said the Woolwich attack was "a betrayal of Islam" and the best approach was to "go about our normal lives".

"We will never give in to terror or terrorism in any of its forms," he said on Thursday.

The Australian National Imams Council has urged clerics in Australia to use their Friday sermons to condemn the attack "in no uncertain terms".

Muslims Australia's Keysar Trad said "it takes a sick and twisted mind to hack another person with a meat cleaver".

“They wouldn’t throw a bricks threw a church window would they” sob sob.

Well not being a Christian I only have to advise Muslims, that if Christians wanted to have bricks thrown at their church windows, they’d need to start trying to cut peoples heads off in the street while chanting Jesus is great.

As soon as they start doing that, and start trying to dictate to a democratic society from a minority of less than 10%, then you’ll start seeing rocks thrown through church windows.

Exclusive: Woolwich killings suspect Michael Adebolajo was inspired by cleric banned from UK after urging followers to behead enemies of Islam

Friday 24 May 2013

One of the suspected killers who attempted to behead and disembowel a young soldier in the horrific Woolwich attack had listened to the preachings of a radical Muslim cleric banned from Britain over extremist activities, including alleged links to al-Qa’ida, The Independent has learnt.

The cleric Omar Bakri Mohammed has been secretly filmed stating that decapitation of the enemies of Islam was permitted. Today, in comments met with outrage, he told The Independent that he could understand the feeling of rage that had motivated the attackers and that what they had done could be justified under certain interpretations of Islam.

Michael Adebolajo, a British-Muslim convert of Nigerian origin who gave a video interview with a meat cleaver in his bloodied hands while the body of 25-year-old Drummer Lee Rigby lay on the street behind him, declared that he was fighting for “Almighty Allah”.

Last night the second suspect was understood to be Michael Adebowale, 22, of Greenwich.

Mr Bakri Muhammed, who now lives in Lebanon, told The Independent: “I saw the film and we could see that he [the suspect] was being very courageous.

“Under Islam this can be justified, he was not targeting civilians, he was taking on a military man in an operation. To people around here [in the Middle East] he is a hero for what he has done.”

Mr Bakri Muhammed said of the suspect: “I knew him as Michael when he came to the meetings and then he converted and he became known as Abdullah; I hear he then started calling himself Mujahid. He asked questions about religion, he was curious. He had first started coming when there was a lot of anger about the Iraq war and the war on terror. Whether I influenced him or not, I do not know. But he was a quiet boy, so something must have happened.”

In other developments, two new arrests were made: a man and a woman on suspicion of conspiracy to murder, following raids at six addresses in London and Lincoln.

Shocking footage also surfaced of the pair being shot by armed response officers from the Metropolitan Police.

A clip on the Daily Mirror's website shows one of the men charge at police and drop one of his knives before being gunned down.

His accomplice is seen raising his arm and aiming a handgun at officers before he too is downed, as eight shots ring out in total.

It also emerged that the two suspected killers of Drummer Rigby were already known to MI5 and, almost certainly, to counter-terrorism officers in the police. One of the men was stopped from travelling to Somalia to join the Islamist militia Al-Shabaab last year.

Security officials insisted that there had been no evidence that either of the two men were planning an imminent attack. Nor was there any evidence, they say, that they were discussing beheading. They point out that there were plenty of references to it in Islamist websites.

In 2007, following the conviction of a group British Pakistanis who had plotted to kidnap and behead a British soldier, a secret recording emerged of Mr Bakri Muhammed saying: “When you meet [Westerners], slice their own necks. And when you make the blood spill all over, and the enemy becomes so tired, now start to take from them prisoners. Then free them or exchange them until the war is finished.

“Verily they remind the sunnah of removing the head of the enemy. They remind the sunnah of slaughtering the enemy. They remind the sunnah of how to strike the neck of the enemy. They removed the head of the enemy. Use the sword and remove the head of the enemy.”

In another message, Mr Bakri Muhammed had said he hoped that “British Muslims who are in the Army over there” (Afghanistan) can be captured.

Mr Bakri Muhammed, who is Syrian-born, and has named one of his sons after Osama bin Laden, stated that he and his followers were not involved in violence while residing in the UK due to what had become known as the “covenant of security” under which Islamist organisations were allowed to carry out their activities, but desisted from taking armed action in the country which had given them refuge.

“But in this case obviously the covenant of security did not apply,” he said.

“Beheading is how criminals were executed under the laws; but that must happen with a Sharia court and decision by judges with criminals. On this occasion he was taking military action, not a legal one.”

Mr Bakri Muhammed had set up the organization Hizb ut-Tahrir in the UK, where he had claimed asylum in 1986, but split with them after doctrinal disagreements and set up the Al-Muhajiroun group which attracted hundreds of followers including Adebolajo. That was also wound up but at least a dozen of its members are thought to have become or affiliated to suicide bombers.

Mr Bakri Muhammed left London soon after the 2005 bombings because, he said, of constant harassment by the authorities. When Israel carried out attacks on Lebanon during its war with Hizbullah a year later he attempted to join civilians being evacuated from Lebanon by the British military, but was refused. He protested at the time: “What concerns me is my safety. I’d be happy with a month’s visa but this morning they told me I couldn’t because I’m not a British citizen any more.”

He was subsequently informed by the UK government that he would not be allowed to return here. Since then Mr Bakri Muhammed had repeatedly warned that the foreign policy being pursued by the UK would lead to retaliation by Muslims in the West and states would be powerless to prevent this.

A 29-year-old woman at a home in south London, and a man of the same age, were arrested in arrested at an undisclosed location.

The two men shot by police remain in hospital with non-fatal injuries but it is understood officers are yet to interview the pair. It emerged that the shooting was captured by a council camera. Two officers fired their guns and a third fired a taser weapon, the Independent Police Complaints Commission said.

'Angel' did not want victim to die alone

The son of a woman who became known as the "angel" of the Woolwich attacks has spoken about what made his mother stay praying by the side of dying soldier Lee Rigby.

He told The Independent: "She just thought at the time, imagine if that was my son. No one wants to die with no one by their side. She just wanted to comfort the guy." He did not want to be named.

Family friend Joe Tallant said: "She wanted to comfort the man... She put her hands on his chest and prayed."

Saved, to glorify God.
If you have NOT WATCHED the these two murderous Muzzies actually BEING SHOT do not condemn the British cops for shooting them.
The MURDERERS are seen on this video LITERALLY RUNNING FULL SPEED AT THE COP CAR FULL OF COPS, ATTEMPTING TO ATTACK and to kill them AS THE COPS TRIED TO GET OUT OF THE CAR.

One of the muzzies actually made it right TO THE COP CAR OPEN DOOR BEFORE HE WAS SHOT.
The cops were especially vulnerable inside the car. The muzzies had machetes and guns.

Go watch if you want to argue. BEWARE you do see them shot, for damned good reason. They SHOULD BE dead.

Imagine the outcome if a Militia, Christian did this in One of our Countries.
We would have had multiple casualties by now, we would have buildings burning everywhere, we would see massive protests, yet if One Muzzie dies from this, the Cops, Pollies would be screaming hate crimes against a minority group and Islam is the religion of Peace, we won't condone violence against Muslims
If the show as on the other foot, many of our citizens will be in fear of the reprisals from the feral rag heads

Newcastle EDL march 'attracts 1,500'

About 1,500 people are attending a demonstration organised by the English Defence League (EDL) in Newcastle, Northumbria police said.

Hundreds of officers are on duty for the EDL's first march since the murder of Drummer Lee Rigby in Woolwich.

A counter demonstration, by a group called Newcastle Unites, was also arranged before the events in London.

Three men were arrested on suspicion of sending racist tweets, ahead of the protests.

Two of the men were from Gateshead and the other was from Stockton on Teesside.

Police acknowledged there were "heightened community concerns" following Drummer Rigby's death but said they expected the day to pass peacefully.

Several hundred EDL protesters gathered on the steps of St Mary's Cathedral in Newcastle city centre on Saturday morning.

Shouts of "Whose streets? Our streets" rang out from the EDL supporters who also chanted "RIP Lee Rigby".

Northumbria Police said road closures would be necessary from 15:00 BST to allow crowds to disperse.

Again, on this Woolwich tweet grid, there is so much support for Islam and muzzies. It's like they have MOSTLY had QUIET muzzies living amongst them for so long who have tended to try to blend in. But the thing is, as we know, Islam is not peaceful. What you've got is like pleasant honeybees milling around, all placid-like, and then you have the africanized killer bees in amongst them. The problem is that the pleasant honey bees are also to a large extent Africanized killer bees too, but they won't show that until they feel they can. I despair of England at this point. Seriously. Woolwich suspect's friend arrested after appearing on Newsnight

Man detained after claiming on television that Michael Adebolajo was tortured in Kenya and harassed by MI5 agents

guardian.co.uk, Friday 24 May 2013 20.01 EDT

*snip* - kind of long article, could be lying, who knows?

A friend of one of the suspected killers of a soldier butchered in a London street was arrested by counter-terrorism officers yesterday after going on television to allege that Michael Adebolajo was tortured in Kenya and harassed by MI5 – who asked him to spy for them.

The allegations came from Abu Nusaybah, who was arrested under terrorism legislation minutes after finishing recording his interview for BBC Newsnight.

The Guardian understands that Nusaybah is connected to extremists formerly in the banned group al-Muhajiroun. Counter-terrorism officers turned up at reception at the BBC's central London headquarters as his interview was being recorded an hour before it was broadcast. The officers waited, then arrested Nusaybah as he left the BBC's headquarters.

In the interview, Abu Nusaybah in part attributed Adebolajo's radicalisation to his alleged ill-treatment in Kenya.

Nusaybah alleged that Adebolajo was arrested while studying in a village in Kenya last year. After refusing to answer questions, Adebolajo was told that he was "not in the UK" and was then, he claimed, sexually assaulted. On his return, "he became more reclined [sic], less talkative. He wasn't his bubbly self," said Nusaybah, who said that the experience further radicalised Adebolajo.

The Guardian has learned that, last year, Adebolajo went to a lawyer to complain of harassment by MI5, who are drawing criticism today for knowing about the 28-year-old but not assessing him to be a bigger terrorist threat.

He was arrested at the scene of the soldier's murder in Woolwich on Wednesday in the first terror-related death on mainland Britain since the 7 July 2005 bombings.

The Guardian also understands from Whitehall sources that they were aware that Adebolajo was detained in Kenya before being deported.

Nusaybah said he had known Adebolajo since they grew up together in Romford, Essex.

Woolwich attack: soldier's 'killer' in dock on terror link three years ago
One of the alleged killers of Drummer Lee Rigby appeared in court in Kenya suspected of leading a group of Islamists trying to join terrorists in Somalia.

By Zoe Flood in Nairobi, Tom Whitehead, David Barrett

The Sunday Telegraph can disclose that Michael Adebolajo was held by police close to the Somali border with a band of "radicalised" Muslim youths who wanted to join the notorious al-Shabaab group.

He was deported to Britain after he appeared in court in Mombasa in November 2010.

Two months previously the head of MI5 had warned that Britons were training in Somalia and it was "only a matter of time before we see terrorism on our streets inspired by those who are today fighting alongside al-Shabaab". It also emerged that the other suspect in the soldier’s murder, Michael Adebowale, 22, was detained by police in London two months ago after shopkeepers complained about a group of Muslim activists.

The disclosures raise further questions about the monitoring by the security services of Adebowale and Adebolajo, 28, whom sources have said was known to MI5 but not assessed as a "threat to life".

ÞOn Saturday night a further three men, aged 21, 24 and 28, were arrested in south-east London on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder. Police used Tasers to detain two of them and were searching four addresses.

ÞCalls were made for Anjem Choudary, the leader of the al-Muhajiroun group to which Adebolajo has been closely linked, to be subject to a Terrorism Prevention and Investigation Measure, the successor to control orders;

ÞEric Pickles, the Communities Secretary, uses an article in The Sunday Telegraph to warn public bodies, including the police and judges, that it is time for them to bring the full weight of the law to bear on extremists and not be hampered by political correctness;

ÞA leading historian who was a member of a Whitehall panel intended to tackle extremist Muslim preaching at universities told how officials opened a "dialogue" with a body that seemed to endorse aspects of extremism;

ÞIn what was feared to be a copycat attack in Paris, a uniformed soldier was knifed in the throat by a man said to be "bearded and of North African origin", who was on the run on Saturday night. The soldier was badly hurt in the attack, which police were treating as a terrorist incident;

ÞThe father of Damilola Taylor, the boy murdered in 2000 in south-east London, told how he had mentored Adebowale before the former gang member turned to radical Islam.

A report on MI5 and MI6’s knowledge of and assessment of the two suspects will be given this week to MPs on the parliamentary committee that scrutinises the security services.

The Sunday Telegraph has established that Adebolajo was arrested by Kenyan authorities in the coastal town of Lamu, before being taken to Mombasa, where he was detained. He appeared in court in late November 2010 alongside other alleged Islamists. He and the others, who were said to age from 18 to 22, were remanded to a local police station. A court report at the time said he was a "Nigerian who had a British passport" and spelt his name incorrectly. Sources in the country confirmed his identity yesterday and said Adebolajo was subsequently deported. He later complained that he had been mistreated.

Adebolajo is understood to have said in court that he wanted access to legal services and to talk to the British Ambassador to Kenya. He also complained that the police said he was a Christian, when he was a converted Muslim.

"He was very arrogant, he was restrained and handcuffed very well," the source said. "We deported him back to the UK. When he was back in the UK he complained about us, that we tortured him. The British embassy in Nairobi wrote to us about the complaint, we told them that we did not torture him. I do not know if the letter arrived but that was what we wrote to them."

According to newspaper reports at the time, the group boarded a speedboat from Lamu Island to the village of Kizingitini before their arrest. Police suspected Adebolajo of masterminding a plan for the youths to join al-Shabaab in Somalia. Pamphlets connected with al-Shabaab were recovered during the police operation.

The other youths who appeared with Adebolajo said they were recruited from a mosque in Mombasa by a radical imam. While in Lamu, they spent time at an isolated madrassa. Lamu, 68 miles from the Somali border, is considered the key crossing point to the country and is a major area of operations for Kenyan security forces.

The case raises questions about why Adebolajo was not put under greater surveillance or even prosecuted after his deportation from Kenya. Under the Terrorism Act 2006, it is an offence to travel or intend to travel overseas to commit acts of terrorism or take part in terrorist training.

Evidence from the Kenyan authorities could have been used to prosecute Adebolajo.

Several Britons have been convicted of similar offences, including the white Muslim convert Richard Dart and his co-defendants earlier this year. They admitted planning to travel to Pakistan to seek terrorist training, and had discussed attacking the military-supporting town of Royal Wootton Bassett in Wiltshire.

Kenyan police believe that Jermaine Grant, a Briton who is on trial in Mombasa on charges of possessing explosives and planning an attack in the port city, has links to al-Shabaab. Grant’s alleged accomplice Samantha Lewthwaite, the widow of the 7/7 bomber Germaine Lindsay, is on the run after slipping a police dragnet. Some reports suggest she may have crossed the border into Somalia.

Jonathan Evans, the then head of MI5, warned in September 2010 that a "significant number of UK residents" were training with al-Shabaab. At the time security services said Somalia was the most significant destination for foreign jihadis. The Foreign Office said of Adebolajo’s arrest and deportation: "We do not comment on individual cases."

The arrest of the other suspect, Adebowale, two months ago in London, followed complaints from shopkeepers about the activities of extremist Muslims, sources said.

More details of his life were disclosed by Damilola Taylor’s father, Richard, who recalled how he tried to mentor the suspect when he was younger.

Mr Taylor is Nigerian-born while both suspects are of Nigerian descent. He said: "He [Adebowale] was a young lovable boy, quiet. Suddenly I started hearing that he’s getting involved in issues around gangs and drugs and I was not very happy with that. I’m terribly shocked."

The murder of Drummer Rigby has caused concern on several levels across Whitehall, highlighting apparent failures to rein in extremist preaching and the radicalisation of young Muslim men. Writing in The Sunday Telegraph today, Mr Pickles urges politicians, judges and the public sector to take a robust line against extremists.

"Our laws are there to ensure preachers of hate are not given a licence to incite violence or public disorder," he writes. "And the police and judiciary should use their powers when the line has been crossed."

He urges members of the public not to "stand idly by" and for broadcasters not to give fanatics the oxygen of publicity. Local authorities should not give taxpayers’ money to organisations that promote segregation or shelter extremists, he adds.

A senior academic who advised the Government on combating Muslim extremism in British universities today condemns the showpiece counter-terrorism strategy as a "sad shambles".

Professor Michael Burleigh, a research fellow in modern history and the history of terrorism at Buckingham University, was invited to take part in a Home Office and Department for Business advisory group two years ago, which helped update the £63 million-a-year "Prevent" strategy.

Writing in The Sunday Telegraph today, Prof Burleigh says civil servants in charge of the "entrenched bureaucracy" worked to undermine the experts and even met with one Islamic group that he regarded as "the main problem".

Prevent was set up under the Labour government in 2005 after the London bombings of July 7. After the last general election, Theresa May, the Home Secretary, commissioned a review because she regarded it as highly flawed, and was critical of the higher education sector’s "complacency" in dealing with the Islamists on campus. She later admitted that Prevent had handed taxpayers’ money to hard-line Muslim groups that promote extremist views.

One senior counter-terrorism source said: "Would a university allow someone to speak on campus if they were advocating the best way to be a paedophile or an armed robber? No, they would not. But they allow speakers who advocate terrorism."

Greenwich University last night began an investigation into radicalism on its premises after confirming that the older suspect had been a student there.

Research by Student Rights, a group set up to tackle extremism on campus, found that radical Islamist preachers addressed students at 200 official events in the 12 months to March 2013, including at Greenwich.

In February its Islamic society invited Dr Khalid Fikry, who has given speeches in which he appears to suggest that Shia Muslims believe "raping a Sunni woman is a matter that pleases Allah" and stated that "Shia are one of the worst and greatest enemies of our Ummah (community) nowadays". Most recently he spoke at the University of Westminster’s Islamic Society.

University Islamic societies are grouped under the umbrella of the Federation of Student Islamic Societies (Fosis). It has hosted extremist speakers including Azzam Tamimi, who supports the Palestinian group Hamas and has spoken in support of martyrdom, and Haitham al-Haddad, who believes that music is a "prohibited and fake message of love and peace". Fosis has been criticised by Mrs May and Nick Clegg, the Deputy Prime Minister, for its failure to "fully challenge terrorist and extremist ideology".

Its chairman, Omar Ali, said last night: "There has been no investigation or inquiry that has identified a link between the activities of Islamic Societies and acts of terrorism. There’s no evidence to suggest there is more extremism on university campuses than in any other sector of society."

The murder in Woolwich, south-east London, has led to calls for internet companies to take down extremist material from the web, but those were rejected by Google. Speaking at the Telegraph Hay Festival yesterday, Eric Schmidt, its executive chairman, said the company had no plans to change its policy.

"We cannot prima facie identify it and take it down. It establishes censorship as a slippery slope; where do we stop?" he said.

The London Terror Attack Was More Than 'Unforgivable'
Britain has been in denial about the Islamist threat. Time to face it down.
By DOUGLAS MURRAY

London

How many ignored warnings does it take? That is one question that should hang over Britain after the horror of the daytime murder of a British soldier on the streets of south London. On Wednesday afternoon, Drummer Lee Rigby was killed in Woolwich by two men wielding large knives and shouting "Allahu akbar"—God is great.

Islamists have been saying for years they would do this. They have planned to do it. And now they have done it.

The attack itself is not surprising. What is surprising is that British society remains so utterly unwilling not just to deal with this threat, but even to admit its existence. Politicians have called the Woolwich killing "unforgivable" and "barbarous." But expressions of anger should not really be enough.

Attempts to attack military targets in Britain go back to before the millennium and even before, it is important to note, the war on terror. In 1998 Amer Mirza, a member of the now-banned extremist group al Muhajiroun, attempted to petrol-bomb British army barracks. In 2007, a cell of Muslim men was found guilty of plotting to kidnap and behead a British soldier in Birmingham. The plan had been to take the soldier to a lock-up garage and cut off his head "like a pig." They wanted to film this act on camera and send it around the world to cause maximum terror.

In 2009, al Muhajiroun protested at a homecoming parade in Luton for British troops returning from Afghanistan. Carrying banners saying "go to hell," "butchers" and "terrorists," the group was protected by British police officers from an increasingly irate crowd of locals. The resulting outrage toward the police gave rise to the deeply troubling English Defence League, a street protest movement that often turns violent.

Now comes the attack in Woolwich, which the perpetrators—as with the earlier cell—wished to be observed and even filmed. Reports suggest that they invited people to capture their actions on video. The perpetrators gave interviews, machetes in hand, to bystanders with cameras. This horrific scene is something that will stick in the memory.

But it should also have been foreseen. Instead we entered the stage of denial. For there is already, in the reaction to events, more than a hint of what I have previously termed "Toulouse syndrome." The term is named after the attacks last year carried out by a jihadist called Mohammed Merah, who killed three French soldiers in a rampage that concluded with the murders of four French Jews at a school in Toulouse.

In the early stages of the attacks, when little was known, there was significant speculation that the culprit was a far-right extremist. At that stage everybody knew what they were going to say. But once the culprit turned out to be an Islamist, the gaze nearly fell away completely. "Nothing to see here, please move on" was the order of the day.

"Toulouse syndrome" also touched Boston last month. After the bombing at the marathon, media and politicians waited, hoping—some even said as much—that the attackers would be tea-party types. Then everybody would know what to say. But when it turned out to be Islamists?

So it is with the Woolwich killing, which British officials have lined up to denounce. Yes it is sickening. Of course it is barbaric. But what of it? Even all these years after the attacks of Sept. 11, 2011, our societies remain unfit for purpose in facing up to—and facing down—Islamic extremism.

Too many still seek refuge in ignorance and denial that was so memorably displayed by U.S. officials after the Fort Hood shooting in 2009. A man who was a member of the American armed forces, Maj. Nidal Hasan, gunned down his colleagues while shouting "Allahu akbar." On that occasion the American government, like the French government before it and the British government this week, decided to focus on everything about the attack other than what really mattered: the motive. Fort Hood was put down to a case of workplace violence.

There will be many angles to the events in London that must be addressed in the coming days, and we can hope many will receive the appropriate level of public attention. Among them will be one particularly unpleasant irony.

Most of the extremists who have repeatedly expressed their hatred of British soldiers are themselves supported by the British state. A prominent hate-preacher—Anjem Choudary, a leader of the disbanded al Muhajiroun—was even caught on video earlier this year extolling Britain's "jihad-seekers' allowance." As he explained to his followers, "The normal situation, really, is to take money from the kafir"—a slur for non-Muslims. "Allahu akbar. We take the money."

After the video showed up online, a BBC reporter asked Mr. Choudary to clarify how much he's taking—the press has long reported a sum of £25,000 ($37,770) per year. "It's irrelevant," Mr. Choudary replied.

This would not be the first time a country has paid both sides in a conflict. But if the reported figure is anywhere near accurate, it would surely be the first time in human history that a society has paid its opponents better than it pays its own. A British soldier can expect to start in the army on a salary of around £16,000 ($24,172).

The events in south London must cause a re-evaluation by British society of the insanity we have been permitting. The question is not how sad we feel. The only question should be what we do about it.

Another man stabbed in Woolwich
DEBKAfile May 26, 2013, 6:38 PM (GMT+02:00)

It has just been reported that a man was stabbed in the southeast London district of Woolwich Sunday afternoon just 300 meters from the mountain of tributes and people paying respects for the British soldier hacked to death Wednesday by Islamist terrorists. No details are yet available on the victim or the assailant. A demonstration was being held at the scene of Drummer Lee Rigby's murder by members of the English Defense League. The Foreign Office confirmed that one of his suspected killers, Michael Adebolajo, was arrested in Kenya in 2010 and deported to Britain, after preparing to fight with the Somali Shabaab group affiliated to al Qaeda.
